Rumors are rife about a Squid Game USA spinoff. In this article we're sharing everything we know about its potential existence, from the latest news to the most likely release date.
Now, first off, Squid Game USA has not been officially announced. Neither Netflix nor the show's creator Hwang Dong-Hyuk have confirmed its existence publicly.
However, there have been reports of a certain major Hollywood director helming an adaption. In addition, the Squid Game Season 3 ending certainly seems to allude to the format going international.

Squid Game Season 3 Ending
Gi-hun dies at the end of Squid Game Season 3, sacrificing himself for the life of a newborn baby. That marks the end of Gi-hun, but what happens next could usher the start of another character's journey.
Cut to six months later and we're in Los Angeles. The Front Man is here to drop off Gi-hun's belongings. As his car drives down the street, he looks to an alley and sees a woman playing ddakji, otherwise known as the traditional Korean children's game used by the Salesman to recruit players for Squid Game.
What's even weirder, however, is that this woman is none other than Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett.
Squid Game Season 3 Last Scene
In the final scene of Squid Game Season 3, she stares directly at the Front Man. "Alright, let's go again," says the man playing ddakji. "As you wish," she replies.

Why is Cate Blanchett in Squid Game?
According to the Squid Game creator, the presence of Cate Blanchett in Squid Game Season 3 was not to set up a USA-based sequel.
"I wanted to convey that in this late capitalist society, the system remains strong, deeply entrenched, and powerful—and that these kinds of games are still continuing in the US," Hwang Dong-Hyuk tells Vanity Fair.
Will Cate Blanchett star in Squid Game Season 4?
No, Cate Blanchett will not star in Squid Game Season 4. Dong-Hyuk addressed the rumor directly in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter.
"I didn't end it on that note in order to deliberately leave room for further stories to happen. Gi-hun and Front Man, through these characters, the games in Korea have ended. And because this story started out with me wanting to tackle issues about the limitless competition and the system that's created in late capitalism, I wanted to leave it on a note highlighting the fact that these systems, even if one comes down, it's not easy to dismantle the whole system — it will always repeat itself."
"That's why I wanted to end it with an American recruiter. And I wrote that scene wanting an impactful ending for the show, not in order to open rooms for anything else."
Is There an American Squid Game?
An American Squid Game spinoff is looking likely - but neither Dong-Hyuk nor Blanchett will be part of it.
"A new English-language Squid Game series is in the works at the streamer, with David Fincher coming on to develop it," wrote Deadline in a report in late 2024.
So, could the Fight Club and Se7en director really be set to helm Squid Game USA? Fincher himself hasn't said a word about it, and Netflix has yet to officially comment on its rumored English-language iteration.
Squid Game Creator Denies Sequel
Dong-Hyuk is reluctant to confirm Fincher's involvement. He says in an interview with VF:
"Honestly, nothing has been said to me officially by Netflix about this. I've only read it in articles myself as well. I've always been a huge fan of David Fincher's work — from Se7en — and I've loved his films. So if he were to create an American Squid Game, I think that would be very interesting to watch. I would definitely click on it immediately after it's released, if it were to happen."
What is the American Squid Game America Release Date?
There is no current release date for the Squid Game America spinoff. It's not been confirmed, and doesn't even have a name at this point. However, if it is indeed in production, the earliest we could see it is 2027, roughly two years after Squid Game Season 3.
What is Squid Game Season 3 About?
As per the official Netflix description: "A failed rebellion, the death of a friend, and a secret betrayal — Squid Game Season 3 picks up in the aftermath of Season 2's bloody cliffhanger. Although Gi-hun is at his lowest point yet, the Squid Game stops for no one."
When Does Squid Game Season 3 Release?
Squid Game's third and final season released on June 27, 2025.
Will There Be A Squid Game Season 4?
No, there are currently no plans for Squid Game Season 4. The showrunners have explicitly stated Squid Game Season 3 is the last season. However, as mentioned, there are rumors of a Squid Game USA-based spinoff.
Where to Watch Squid Game Season 3?
Squid Game Season 3 is a Netflix exclusive, meaning you'll need a subscription to the platform in order to watch it.
All six episodes of Squid Game Season 3 premiered simultaneously on Netflix. You can watch them from June 27, 2025.
How Many Episodes Are in Squid Game Season 3?

Liam Payne's Family React to Netflix's ‘Building the Band': 'I Couldn't Be Prouder'

Liam Payne's final TV project Building the Band will air on Netflix tomorrow (Wednesday 9th July). Hosted by Backstreet Boys star AJ McLean, the show will see 50 singers select their potential bandmates based purely on vocal chemistry without ever seeing one another in isolated booths—think Love Is Blind meets The Voice. Nicole Scherzinger will serve as a mentor and judge, and will be joined by guest judges Kelly Rowland and the late Liam Payne, who sadly passed away on October 16, 2024, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As the new series airs on Netflix, here's how his family reacted to the show. Following the trailer release, Nicola shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram Stories. 'Over the years I've shared many achievements and momentous occasions as a proud sister and I couldn't be prouder of this show,' Nicola, 37, wrote. 'And I know you are so proud too.' She continued: 'Watching this over the past few months has given me/us a way to still feel close to you and see you at your best and I'm so glad the world gets to see it all now too. You truly are a shining star, miss you more than words can say, love you more than that.' Ruth also responded to the trailer, writing on her own Story: 'I didn't know whether to share this but it felt weird when I've raved about Liam's work and achievements for the last 15 years. I'm heartbroken he never got to see how great he is in this show. 'He knew he had done a good job. We all told him this when we were at filming, but watching it back, wow!' The 34-year-old continued: 'You're a star Liam, you always were and always will be. There are a range of emotions I felt watching this, but one of the main ones is immeasurable pride always. Miss you more everyday.' A statement from Netflix said: 'Liam Payne's family reviewed the series and is supportive of his inclusion.' A source added: 'Netflix have gone out of their way to make sure his family are happy. Producers sent them the footage so they are fully aware of what to expect and they have given it their blessing.' Building the Band starts on Netflix on Wednesday 9th July. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow reveals he canceled Batmobile purchase after home burglary

Joe Burrow looked like a superhero last season while keeping the Cincinnati Bengals afloat despite the team allowing the 25th-most points per game in the NFL. The two-time Pro Bowler will no longer have the car to fit the part, though. Advertisement Burrow revealed on Netflix's latest season of "Quarterback" that he canceled his previous purchase of a real-life Batmobile, Batman's go-to ride in Gotham City. Burrow rethought the acquisition after his Cincinnati home was broken into last December. The burglary occurred while Burrow and the Bengals were on the road playing the Dallas Cowboys in Week 14. He had originally mentioned he was buying the replica vehicle, which goes for $3 million, during last year's in-season "Hard Knocks" series that featured all four AFC North teams. "I didn't end up getting the Batmobile because I just had other things I wanted to deal with at that point," Burrow said on "Quarterback," which was released Tuesday. Advertisement After a 27-20 win over the Cowboys on Dec. 9, Burrow found out his house was ransacked. Law enforcement responded to Burrow's home around 8:14 that night. While Burrow was away, a bedroom window on the back side of his house was broken and rooms were rummaged through. A federal grand jury in Cincinnati charged three men believed to be operating as part of a South American Theft Group, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Ohio. "Quarterback" shows a conversation between Burrow and then-Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo from last winter. Burrow explains the fallout of the burglary, noting stolen jewelry but also, more importantly, an invasion of privacy. As shown in "Quarterback," Burrow discusses the inconvenience of having news vans camped out by his house and even talks about the possibility of him moving houses. Advertisement "I just get very uncomfortable," Burrow told the show in another scene. "My life is very public. That comes with the job, but there's certain parts of your life that are yours. Your house is one of those."

Video: Jake Paul faces off Katie Taylor, Amanda Serrano on top of Empire State Building

It was business between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano. Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano are taking women's boxing to new heights – quite literally. The two boxing stars faced off Tuesday on top of the Empire State Building ahead of their highly anticipated trilogy bout – which takes place Friday at Madison Square Garden in New York. The championship fight serves as the headliner to an all-women's boxing card that streams on Netflix. Given what's at stake, the faceoff was tense, but also respectful. The two broke a smile mid-staredown. YouTube star and boxer Jake Paul, who's promoting the event under Most Valuable Promotion, led the faceoff. You can watch the Taylor and Serrano square off on top of the Empire State Building in the video below. Taylor, 39, is putting her undisputed super lightweight title on the line against 36-year-old Serrano. Taylor won their first two encounters. In 2022, Taylor overcame adversity to escape with a split decision win at MSG. Then last November, Taylor and Serrano put on an instant classic, with Taylor winning by unanimous decision amid some headbutt controversy at the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium. The rematch was the co-main event to the heavily hyped Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight on Netflix. Taylor vs. Serrano 3 is considered the biggest rivalry in the history of women's boxing.
