Police uncover RM5m drugs hidden in cow dung in Kelantan raids
Acting Director of Bukit Aman's Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (JSJN), Datuk Mat Zani @ Mohd Salahuddin Che Ali, confirmed the arrests of six suspects, including five men and one woman aged 25 to 39. The syndicate, active since 2022, allegedly targeted school students and teenagers in Kelantan, Klang Valley, and Johor Bahru.
The breakthrough came after a year-long intelligence operation. Police first intercepted a Perodua Axia on Jalan Gajah Mati, Banggol Chica, finding 115 grams of 'pil kuda'. A subsequent search at the suspect's home uncovered another 112 grams. Behind the house, officers discovered 20 kg of the drug hidden in a cattle shed beneath cow dung.
Simultaneous raids led to the arrest of another suspect with 15.4 kg of 'pil kuda' in his Toyota Hilux. Further operations in Pasir Mas and Tumpat netted three more individuals, including the wife of the primary suspect. Authorities believe the syndicate laundered drug profits through businesses like a seafood restaurant, salon, and online ventures.
All suspects tested negative for drugs in initial screenings, though two had prior drug-related records. The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, with suspects remanded for seven days.
Mat Zani stated that the syndicate used the cattle shed as a storage hub before distributing the drugs. Police remain vigilant in curbing drug abuse, particularly in Kelantan, a high-risk border state. - Bernama

Two men nabbed in Mukah for drug possession, abuse

MUKAH (July 4): Two local men, aged 17 and 21, were arrested by narcotics police here on Thursday for suspected drug possession and abuse during an inspection along Jalan Mukah-Selangau. Mukah district police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias in a statement today said the duo were stopped at around 3.30pm by a team from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division of the Mukah District Police. A search of both suspects led to the discovery of a transparent straw tube each, containing crystalline substances believed to be methamphetamine. 'The total weight of the drugs seized was 0.61 grams with an estimated value of RM100. 'Both suspects also tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine during urine tests,' he said. According to Muhamad Rizal, one of the suspects works as a shop assistant while the other is a labourer. Both have been remanded at the Mukah Police Station lock-up to assist in further investigation under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, he added. The offence under Section 12(2) carries a fine of up to RM100,000 or a maximum jail term of five years, or both, while Section 15(1)(a) provides for a jail term of up to two years or a fine not exceeding RM5,000, along with a mandatory supervision order.

Johor odd job worker escapes gallows, acquitted of drug trafficking charge
JOHOR BARU: A 52-year-old odd job labourer escaped the death penalty when the High Court here acquitted him of a drug trafficking charge. Justice Suriyati Hasimah Mohd Hashim acquitted Kua Seng Poo, who was charged under Section 39B(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, for trafficking 69.33g of methamphetamine. She ruled that the prosecution had failed to prove the custody of the drug especially when there was a conflict of evidence between the police arresting officer and the investigating officer. A total of four witnesses were called during the trial including an arresting officer, storekeeper, chemist and investigating officer. According to the charge sheet, the accused had committed the offence at about 1.15pm in a place in Taman Sentosa at about 1.15pm on Sept 23, 2021. Deputy Public Prosecutor Rashidah Baharom prosecuted while lawyer N. Mariappan represented the accused.
