Cong will win 100 MLA seats in next polls: CM Revanth

Hans India3 days ago
Hyderabad: Exuding confidence, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday assured the party high command that the Congress party in Telangana would win not less than 100 MLA and 15 MP seats in the next polls. Describing the party leadership from village level to top level as party's 'brand ambassadors', the CM said their heartbeat reflected the gusto of winning even in the next Assembly polls and confidence of sending at least 15 MPs from the state to form the Congress government at the Centre.
Addressing the Samajika Nyaya Samara Bheri meeting attended by village level party leaders and cadre at the LB Stadium, the CM promised AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, who was the chief guest at the meeting, that Telangana would contribute its part for the Congress to form the government at the Centre. 'These village presidents and mandal presidents have come from across Telangana, including from tribal areas. By reading their heartbeats, I promise on their behalf that we shall not only come to power in Telangana for the second time in a row with 100 MLAs but also send 15 MPs to Delhi.
Take forward my message to Soniaji and Rahulji,' he said in Hindi, to cheers and applause from the crowd.
The CM urged the partymen to counter the 'poisonous campaign' being spread by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) through social media. He said the intensity should be such that their 'social media fortress' should be shattered into pieces.
He assured the partymen at different levels of 'doing justice', if they work hard in the upcoming local body polls.
While pointing out the likelihood of delimitation of the Assembly constituencies, Revanth Reddy said that there would be opportunities for top performers to become MLAs as Telangana would get many additional MLA seats. He also highlighted the possibility of women reservation getting implemented by the next polls and assured to support women candidates and asked them to groom themselves to grab the chance.
Over the issues of new recruitments in his government, the Chief Minister challenged the Opposition leaders for an open debate.
'I shall apologise by bowing to their feet if they prove that the government has failed to provide employment to 60,000 people. I will bring all of them to the LB Stadium and if the headcount is less than that figure, I am ready to bow to Kishan Reddy, KCR and KTR,' he affirmed, referring to Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao and BRS working president KT Rama Rao.

KTR reaches Press Club after accepting CM Revanth Reddy's debate challenge

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday reached Somajiguda Press Club in Hyderabad for a public debate with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on farmers' issues. Rama Rao, who had accepted the Chief Minister's challenge for the debate, reached the Press Club along with several party leaders. Addressing the party leaders, he alleged that the Chief Minister was running away from debate after throwing the challenge. "We came to know that the Chief Minister is in Delhi. We were ready for debate with Deputy Chief Minister, Agriculture Minister or any Minister but nobody turned up," he said. He alleged that 600 farmers committed suicide during the last 18 months. He said the Congress betrayed people after coming to power by making 420 promises and six guarantees. KTR claimed that he has brought the list of farmers who committed suicide, whose loans were not waived and who were not given a bonus and the financial aid under Rythu Bharosa. Stating that water, funds and jobs were the key issues during the Telangana movement, KTR alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is diverting river waters to his friend, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, sending funds to Delhi and giving jobs to his people. On the reports that Revanth Reddy was visiting Delhi to get "fertiliser bags" for the state, the BRS leader remarked that "people know what bags he was carrying to Delhi to save his chair". Police stepped up security at Press Club since morning as a large number of BRS leaders and workers gathered there. Before leaving for Press Club, KTR told media persons at the BRS office, Telangana Bhavan, that he was ready to debate on farm loan waiver, bonus for paddy and all other issues related to farmers. Addressing a meeting of Congress workers on July 4 in the presence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, the Chief Minister had thrown a challenge for public debate on what the previous BRS government did and what the Congress government was doing for the welfare of farmers. Accepting the challenge, KTR had offered to meet at any location chosen by the Chief Minister - whether in CM Reddy's constituency Kodangal, his native village Kondareddypally, or even at the Ambedkar statue or Somajiguda Press Club in Hyderabad. When there was no response from the Chief Minister, the BRS leader declared that he was ready for debate at the Press Club. The BRS leader said that it has become the Chief Minister's habit to run away after throwing a challenge for debates. KTR said he was ready for a debate with the Chief Minister on any issue. KTR said that they were ready for debate even in the Assembly, provided their mikes were not cut in the middle. The former minister alleged that the Congress government failed to implement even one out of 420 poll promises. He said the BRS had been questioning the government for the last 18 months for failing to honour its commitments.

Punjab govt withdraws Channi-era decision to hand over Bhakra Beas Dam security to CISF, announces 3,600 special educator posts

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], July 8 (ANI): Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Monday said the state government has reversed a key decision taken during the previous Congress regime regarding the security of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB). While talking to ANI, Cheema said, 'During the Congress party's tenure, a letter was issued agreeing to hand over the security of the Bhakra Beas Management Board, and the then Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi had said that the security of the Bhakra Beas Dam would be handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Today, we have withdrawn that decision.' He added that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government would also bring the matter before the Punjab Legislative Assembly. Cheema also announced a series of developmental initiatives, including large-scale recruitment for special education and the promotion of traditional sports. He said that the state cabinet has approved the recruitment of 3,600 special educators to teach children with special needs. 'We have announced 3,600 vacancies to teach them. In the coming time, recruitment will be done for these vacancies, and we will educate those children well so that they can contribute to society,' he said. The minister also highlighted the establishment of two new universities in the state and spoke about legislative steps taken to promote traditional rural sports. 'Regarding the bullock cart race organized at the Kila Raipur Sports Festival, we have also made a new law. In the coming time, this sport will be held across Punjab,' Cheema added. The announcements come amid the government's push to boost employment, strengthen regional traditions, and assert state control over key infrastructure. Earlier, Cheema was appointed as to leader of the 5-member Cabinet Sub Committee to monitor the war against drugs. CM Bhagwant Singh Mann has asked the Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendent of Police to make Punjab drug-free state. Divulging details, Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla informed that over 200 Police teams, comprising over 1400 police personnel, under the supervision of 96 gazetted officers have conducted raids at as many as 488 locations across the state leading to the registration of 84 first information reports (FIRs) across the state.
