The issue came to light when a Galaxy Z Fold 5 owner attempted to get their Icy Blue model serviced at an authorized uBreakiFix location for a network-related issue.
Eventually, Samsung offered a replacement unit with a $99 deductible — later reduced to $1 — but even then, the replacement came in a completely different color.
Would you still pick an exclusive Samsung color knowing repairs might be harder?

Samsung Care Plus can't always save you
The service center didn't have matching replacement parts in stock, and neither did any of the nearby centers. A technician offered to use a different-colored part, but there was a snag: a Samsung Care rep confirmed that the device wouldn't activate if the housing color didn't match (ridiculous...).Eventually, Samsung offered a replacement unit with a $99 deductible — later reduced to $1 — but even then, the replacement came in a completely different color.

What to expect at Unpacked
Samsung is expected to unveil the
What's surprising here is that this happened despite the user having Samsung Care Plus, the company's premium support package that promises 'complete peace of mind' for accidental damage and repairs. In theory, it should cover issues like this without much hassle. In practice, it seems your peace of mind might depend on what color you picked at checkout.Scrolling through the Reddit thread, you'll find other users sharing the same frustration — especially those who opted for flashy, exclusive finishes like Coral Red or Titanium Jadegreen. Replacement parts for these shades just don't seem to be widely stocked either.Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 at next week's Unpacked event — and leaks point to an exclusive Mint Green color option being available for both.
A question of popularity
It's hard not to see this as a reflection of sales volume. Samsung's exclusive online finishes are only available through its website, which likely limits how many are sold. That lower volume makes it understandable (but still frustrating) that replacement parts aren't as readily available.
At the end of the day, the bold colors are a fun way to make your phone stand out. But if Samsung can't support them properly after the sale even with Care Plus coverage, then maybe it's time to rethink how exclusive these shades really should be.
Based on the aforementioned repair experiences, though, that color could come with complications down the road. If you care about fast and painless service, sticking with the standard colorways might be the smarter call here. It's hard not to see this as a reflection of sales volume. Samsung's eye-catching and colorful limited-edition phone finishes may look great in your hand, but they might not be so pretty when it's time for repairs. According to a recent user report on Reddit, getting a Galaxy flagship fixed in one of Samsung's exclusive online-only colorways can result in significant delays — even for those with Samsung Care+ coverage.

Samsung tri-fold appears in One UI 8 code

Samsung was one of the pioneers in the foldable phone market and we've already seen teasers about its upcoming first tri-fold device. Some rumors suggest we may see the tri-fold at next week's Galaxy Unpacked event and we now have an actual look at the device thanks to the team over at Android Authority who discovered animation files hidden in the latest One UI 8 build. These show the device's design, which includes three rear panels and two inward folding hinges. The more interesting bit is that the hinges on Samsung's tri-fold feature different sizes and will reportedly fold inwards instead of the outward folding approach seen on Huawei's Mate XT. This means Samsung's device will have to be unfolded from right to left as shown in the following animation. A separate video shows a warning not to fold the right side of the device (which has the three rear cameras on its back) inward, as that may end up breaking the display. The device features a cover screen that will reside in the middle when the main folding screen is fully open. Samsung's tri-fold is referred to as Multifold 7 in the One UI 8 code, while previous rumors suggest it is called Q7M internally. While its commercial name is not finalized, previous reports point to it being called Galaxy G Fold. According to previous leaks, Samsung's first tri-fold device will feature a 9.96" folding screen and a 6.54" cover display. It is expected to weigh around 300 grams and may only launch in South Korea and China. Source

Official Galaxy Z Fold 7 cases suggest Samsung is extra confident this year

*Header image is referential and showcases the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. | Image credit — Samsung The official phone cases for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 have surfaced in a new leak ( translated source ). In addition to a stylish new entry, the design of the cases suggests that Samsung is particularly confident in its phone this Fold 7 will have the following cases available directly from Samsung: Silicone case Clear case Clear grip case Clear Magnet case Carbon Shield case Official phone cases for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 . | Image credit — Nieuwe Mobiel Notice a few things missing? You're not alone. The S Pen case is gone, and the remaining cases don't feature any protection for the front of the phone. It seems that Samsung is pretty sure that the Fold 7 doesn't need that extra protection. The new 'Carbon Shield' case is, in my opinion, pretty fancy. However, I would still probably go for a plain black silicone case, I'm just boring like that. The omission of the S Pen seems to signal that Samsung is thinking about removing it entirely, though it's scared to do so. All of these leaked renders also corroborate every other rumor before, as well as the hands-on Fold 7 images that came out today. It is basically confirmed at this point that the Fold will not feature the 'ugly' cameras that users complained about on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. These were the official cases for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 . | Video credit — Samsung However, despite my preference for a plain silicone case, I wouldn't actually use a case at all, unless I needed the magnet case for Qi2 charging. I've never been a fan of phone cases, and why would you want to cover up a phone that's undergone so much improvement? The Fold 7 makes the Fold 6 look ancient, and I want to feel that leap in design philosophy every time I pick it sure, if you're scared of dropping it, all of the cases above will at least protect the back panel. Foldable phones are expensive, so it's a good thing that Samsung is introducing a budget foldable this year as well: the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. If you're not a fan of Samsung's One UI or can't stand the 4,400 mAh battery, then other phone manufacturers have you covered. The Honor Magic V5 is currently the slimmest foldable in the world, has a very impressive 6,100 mAh battery, and also comes with seven years of software support. You've also got the Oppo Find N5, another powerful and slim foldable with a much bigger battery than the Fold 7 . Or, of course, you could wait to see if Apple delivers the foldable iPhone next year. Leaked foldable iPhone screen specs suggest it's already fallen behind the Fold 7 . But it may actually see Apple's vision of a crease-free foldable realized. Leaked renders of the official Galaxy Z Flip 7 cases give us an early look at Samsung's accessories

A leaked render of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 . | Image by AndroidHeadlines This year's summer Galaxy Unpacked is coming July 9, and Samsung is expected to officially announce the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. We've already seen multiple leaks of the phones themselves, but a new leak has revealed all the accessories Samsung might offer for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 . If the leak is accurate, Samsung's flip foldable will launch with four cases and an anti-reflective screen protector. The cases are a Kindsuit case, a Silicon Ring case, and two types of Clear case. All of them look the same as the ones Samsung offered last year with the Galaxy Z Flip 6, except the new clear magnet case. The clear case doesn't defy any expectations, and it has two simple parts that cover the upper and lower parts of the device. One of the versions features a ring-shaped grip on the lower half and resembles last year's silicone case. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 | Images credit—Android Headlines Samsung's clear case also has a version that replaces the grip with a ring of magnets. Their goal is to provide Qi2 support, and the renders might as well confirm that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 won't have built-in MagSafe. Although there's no information about the pricing, this version will likely be more expensive than the base clear case. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 | Image credit—Android Headlines Like its name suggests, the Silicon Ring case has a ring grip on the back. It looks more or less identical to the non-magnet clear case, and last year's version was $39.99. Samsung may offer the Silicon Ring case in mint, coral, blue, and black colors, which match the rumored colors of the Flip 7 . Samsung's faux leather offering is the Kindsuit case, which may return for the Galaxy Flip 7 . That one will be offered in three colors – camel, taupe, and black. Last year, this was the most expensive case, retailing at $99. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 | Images credit—Android Headlines Lastly, Samsung could also provide an option for better protection of the bigger outer screen. The anti-reflective screen protector for the Flip 7 cover screen has a pill-shaped cutout for the camera and will ship with extra accessories for easier and better application. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 | Images credit—Android Headlines I think the accessories for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 look great. However, it strikes me as odd to get Qi2 support only with a clear case. I'd expect Samsung to equip the priciest cases with every available feature, but the leak doesn't mention anything about magnets on the Kindsuit cases. Otherwise, the accessories won't surprise anyone, but that's not the idea. The idea is to protect our phones and make them look more personalized. Secure your connection now at a bargain price!
