Dola, who is believed to be abroad, is wanted by the NCB for his alleged involvement in the seizure of 20 kg of Mephedrone, commonly known as MD, from the Dongri area two years ago. The 57-year-old had supplied the contraband to the accused from whom it was seized, said NCB sources. Subsequently, a non-bailable warrant was issued against Dola by a local court while the Interpol issued a Red Corner Notice against him following the NCB's request, the sources mentioned.
In the notice issued to the public on Wednesday, the NCB said that information related to Dola's whereabouts can be submitted to its additional director in Mumbai via telephone (022-22620428) and email (zdmzu-ncb@nic.in). Name and other identification details of potential informants would be kept 'strictly confidential', the notice mentioned.
In May, a city-based narcotics trafficker with international linkages, who was allegedly involved in the seizure of 20 kg MD, was placed under preventive detention as per provisions of the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act. He was later transferred from the Arthur Road prison to Chennai's Puzhal Central Prison and the NCB froze his assets worth ₹6.4 crore, suspected to be proceeds from his drug-trafficking activities.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had, in June, secured the deportation of Dola's son, Taher, an accused in a ₹252-crore synthetic drug case, from the United Arab Emirates. Taher was wanted by the Mumbai police for allegedly operating an illegal MD-manufacturing unit in Sangli. Mumbai police had seized 126.14 kg MD from the facility, valued at approximately ₹252 crore, in March 2024.

CCB seizes 123 kg of ganja; three arrested in Dakshina Kannada
Karnataka: A large cache of ganja weighing 123 kg was seized by the Mangaluru City Crime Branch in a major crackdown on narcotics smuggling, with three individuals arrested for allegedly transporting the contraband from Andhra Pradesh. Acting on a tip-off, CCB officials intercepted two cars near Mathadakere in Kantavar Cross, located in Beluvai village of Moodbidri taluk, Dakshina Kannada district, on Thursday. The contraband was reportedly being smuggled across state borders, they said. The arrested individuals have been identified as Masood M K (45), Mohammed Ashiq (24), and Subair (30), all residents of Kasaragod district in Kerala, officials added. In addition to the cannabis, officials also seized two vehicles—one registered in Karnataka and the other in Kerala—and five mobile phones. The total value of the seized goods is estimated at Rs 46.2 lakh. A case has been registered at the Moodbidri police station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The operation is part of an ongoing effort to dismantle interstate narcotics networks. Investigations are underway to trace the origin and supply chain of the seized contraband, officials added.

Mumbai police order CCTV cameras at medical stores in a month to curb illegal drug sales
Mumbai: To check illegal sale of scheduled drugs, the Mumbai police has asked all pharmacy stores to install CCTV cameras in their premises within a month. Owners of medical stores and chemist shops are unhappy with the move as they believe such measures will not help. Scheduled drugs refer to medications regulated under the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945, on the basis of how they are manufactured, stored, distributed, and prescribed. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Commission for Protection of Child Rights, New Delhi, too, had recently raised concerns about the sale of scheduled drugs and inhalants without valid prescriptions. The Anti-Narcotics Cell and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found several medical stores in Mumbai sold habit-forming drugs without maintaining proper records. According to the order, every medical shop in Mumbai and its suburban districts will have to install CCTV cameras at all entrances, exits, and sale counters in such a way that the faces of customers and transactions are recorded. The cameras must have a minimum resolution of 2 megapixels, and footage must be stored for at least one month. Officials from the District Drug Control Authority and Child Welfare Police Officers can inspect CCTV footage. Medical shop owners have been given a 30-day period to comply with the order. Senior officials said the initiative is part of a larger crackdown on the misuse of prescription drugs, often diverted into the narcotics trade. Abay Pandey, president of the All Food and License Holders Foundation, told TOI: "Firstly, the police have no powers to check medical stores if there are not accompanied by FDA officials. Secondly, these CCTV cameras won't serve any purpose as the prescriptions and medicine strips are written in small fonts. How is the camera going to help them?" Prasad Danave, president of Retail and Dispensing Chemist Association Mumbai, said, "How is the camera going to keep a tab on the medicines sold? What about the online sites that sell abortion pills to a 14-year-old girl? Is there any check on them?"

Rajasthan: MDMA worth over ₹3 crore seized in Jaisalmer, 2 held under anti-drug crackdown

Police said the two intended to sell the MDMA in smaller quantities within Jaisalmer town. Shivhare said the crackdown was part of a statewide anti-narcotics drive. The suspects are being interrogated to uncover further links in the supply and distribution chain. According to police, Prakash has a previous case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act registered against him at Mandore police station.
