The Ineos Grenadier was already one of the most versatile and off-road focused cars on sale, but it just got even more capable thanks to off-road experts at Letech. The German firm famous for modifying the Mercedes G-Class has just added portal axles and other upgrades to both the Ineos Grenadier and the Quartermaster pick-up. Advertisement - Article continues below
Orders for the Ineos Grendaier Trialmaster X Letech have opened in Europe with the Grenadier costing 170,000 euros (roughly £150,000) and the Quartermaster costing 1,000 euros more - excluding VAT.
That marks a steep increase over the regular Grenadier Station Wagon and Quartermaster, which both kick off at £62,495 here in the UK. There's a good reason though because Letech has added all the necessary modifications you need to take the Ineos almost anywhere.
The most significant change is indeed those portal axles - something we've seen previously on the Mercedes-AMG G 63 4x4². Portal axles essentially elevate the ride height via gears in the wheel hub - Mercedes saw a gain of 110mm to the G-Class' ground clearance by employing the tech in the G 63 4x4². The Ineos gets a giant increase of 186mm to give a total of 450mm and it's not just ground clearance where it impresses because wading depth is up from 800mm to 1,050mm as well. Skip advert Advertisement - Article continues below
Powering both vehicles are the same BMW-derived straight-six turbocharged petrol and diesel engines - meaning that the 3,500kg towing capacity is retained. The Station Wagon (the SUV style model) has a payload capacity of 540kg while the Quartermaster pick-up comes with a 642kg capacity.
Letech's Grenadier and Quartermaster Trialmaster are also fitted with a new heavy-duty five-link front and rear suspension layout and 37-inch Mud Terrain off-road tyres from BFGoodrich. The 18-inch forged alloy wheels are also new, while Letech has added a high performance braking system, extended wheel arches, a front-mounted winch and a rear ladder attachment. There's also a jerry can, which might be just as well because we struggled to get over 20mpg in the Quartermaster recently.
Making sure you can see where you're going off-road, Letech has added six old-school roof lights, plus there's a roof rack a spare wheel carrier and exclusive 'Trialmaster x Letech' Door Sill Scuff Plates and A-pillar badging to ensure no one mistakes it for a regular Ineos.
The standard Ineos' five-year/unlimited mileage factory warranty is retained with Letech's additions being covered by a two-year warranty.

Amazon Prime Day vs the high street: Where can you find the best deals?

The Amazon Prime Day 2025 sale is here, bringing four days of discounts on top brands such as Apple, Ninja and Dyson. As is often the case during major sales events like Prime Day, competing high street retailers will match or even beat Amazon's prices in a bid to compete with the online giant. Until midnight on Friday 11 July, The IndyBest team and I will be bringing you the best Prime Day deals on air fryers, mattresses, vacuum cleaners and lots more. As ever, we'll also be keeping a close eye on the high street retailers that are offering better deals or perks on top products, which you can find in this guide. Right now, Amazon is leading the way with the best discounts on hero products. However, that could very much change over the next three days. But, if you're not a Prime member and don't fancy forking out for a membership, you can use this page to see what popular products you can make a saving on. Prime Day is a good chance to save on big-ticket items on your wishlist, such as the Dyson airwrap. The coveted hair tool is rarely discounted, so I was pleased to see it included in the sale. There's a decent 17 per cent off at Amazon, but if it drops out of stock or you're not a Prime member, you can get it for the same price at Very. The airwrap i.d. was released last year and comes with a companion app that adjusts the airflow and heat settings according to your hair type. Beauty writer, Elena Chabo's, verdict was that it'll 'set you up for almost every styling need, halve your styling time and minimise damage to hair'. You can save on rarely discounted Apple tech currently at Amazon. This includes the iPhone 16e, which we've seen drop to less than £500 for the first time since its 2025 launch. Competing high street retailers are yet to match this offer, but if you're looking for alternative deals, you can get £50 off at John Lewis. If you shop at John Lewis, you'll also get £10 off an Apple iPhone case when you use the code ' IPHONECASE10 '. Tech critic, David Phelan, called the 16e an 'outstanding choice' in his review. Compared to its predecessor, the iPhone SE, you get 'more storage', a 'bigger display' and 'a bigger battery'. Eufy is one of our favourite brands for robot vacuums and video doorbells, and currently Amazon has discounted a series of its products in the Prime Day sale. Take, for example, the omni C20 robot vacuum, which Amazon has slashed the price by £220, but if you don't have a Prime membership, you can nab it for the same price at Eufy. All you need to do is use the discount code ' WS24T2280'. You'll need to be quick, though, as just like the Prime Day deals, the offer is only available until 11.59pm on Friday 11 July. Amazon has knocked 30 per cent off the price of our best robot vacuum in the Prime Day sale, making it the best offer we can find right now. However, if you're not a Prime member, you can still get £250 off when you buy the robot vacuum directly from Eufy. All you have to do is use the discount code ' WS24T2351' when you checkout, and the deal is yours. Our tech critic, Alex Lee, described the robot vacuum as 'the most hands-off machine we've tested yet'. As well as vacuuming and mopping, he was impressed with its ability to refill itself with water and clean its own mop pads. Oura is known for its smart rings, with its ring 4 earning the top spot in our round-up. Amazon has the best offer on the ring 4 right now with 20 per cent off, bringing it down to its cheapest ever price at the online retailer. If you're not signed up for Amazon Prime, you can still save on the smart ring at John Lewis. It's £12 more, but you can save a further £5 if you buy an Oura ring 4 sizing kit before you purchase the ring itself. In his review of the ring 4, senior tech critic, Alex Lee, wrote that 'no smart ring comes close in the activity department'. He praised its ability to automatically track 40 different workouts 'really effectively', as well as its sleep tracking that beats the Apple Watch. If you want to nab a Ninja deal, you're best bet is to shop its deals in the Prime Day sale. At the moment, this is where you'll find the best offers on its appliances and cookware. For now, the only competing offer that's worth a look is on its staysharp knife set. You'll get the best savings at Amazon, but if you can do without a pair of scissors, you can also pick up the knife block for £1 more at QVC. an essential in my kitchen for years.

My £1,200 Samsung phone was blacklisted - by a network that I've never even used! SALLY SORTS IT

I took my Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 in for a repair to a damaged screen in January this year. The repairer informed me that they could not fix it as it's been blacklisted by Three UK. I was shocked as my network provider is O2 and I purchased the £1,200 phone new directly from Samsung in September 2022. Since then, it has always been in my possession. The device has now been blocked. I can't afford to replace it. Please help. F. S., New Malden, London. Sally Hamilton replies: The mystery of your blacklisted mobile is particularly baffling as you have never been a customer of Three. Initially, you spent considerable time on the phone to both Samsung and O2 urging them to help unblock your device. You said they made every effort to help but concluded that only Three could resolve the problem. After a slow start, Three launched an internal investigation which, maddeningly, also concluded that it could not help. The firm simply sent you a deadlock letter to enable you to escalate the complaint to the Communications Ombudsman. You hit yet another brick wall when the Ombudsman said it could not consider your complaint as you are not a Three customer. Arrgh! I was your last hope if you were ever going to be able to use your pricey phone again. On my request, Three reopened your case. It kept in touch with you throughout the process. It was three weeks before I finally received the good news that your phone had been unblocked and removed from the blacklist. Three confirmed your device had been blacklisted on November 22, 2022, but could not confirm whether it was Three or another provider that had requested this, or the reason. It won't share details of the mechanics of the blacklisting process either in case fraudsters take advantage of the information. Devices are blacklisted via their International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number, which is unique to each phone. Providers or networks tend to do this if a mobile is lost or stolen, if there are security issues, if a customer fails to pay their bill, or the device has been reported as used for fraud or spam purposes. Theft victims may find they are unable to claim on their insurance until the device has been confirmed on the blacklist. No one was able to work out what happened in your case. It's possible the IMEI number from another phone might have been mistyped when it was reported stolen. We will never know. You were grateful for my intervention and can finally get your phone repaired. It's a pity there is not a simpler and speedier way for innocent victims of blacklisting to get their devices removed from the list. Granddaughter in Australia can't access account Our granddaughter emigrated to Australia with her parents 16 years ago at the age of three. At the time she had a Child Trust Fund with Nationwide Building Society. Recently, she tried to access the £402 balance, but Nationwide blocked the account because she has not been into a branch. Can you help? F .S., Nottingham. Sally Hamilton replies: You said your granddaughter posted certified copies of her driving licence and passport to Nationwide's head office, along with a covering letter explaining that she would like to withdraw her money. But these were not accepted. Staff told her only the original documents would do. She was reluctant to send these to the other side of the world as she feared never seeing them again. Nationwide insisted the only way to resolve matters was for her to go into a branch and present identification in person. But as she lives in Queensland, Australia, and has no plans to visit the UK, this was not possible. You say friends of hers with CTFs at other banks have been able to access their accounts online, but she doesn't have an internet account with Nationwide. Scam Watch Households should beware a scam email impersonating British Gas, consumer website Which? has warned. The tricksters claim you have an overdue bill which needs paying as your last direct debit 'hasn't gone through'. The fraudulent email says you are £7.21 overdue and you are prompted to click a link to pay the remaining balance. But the link will lead to a malicious website designed to steal your personal and financial details. Do not click on the link – instead, forward the email to report@ She faced an additional frustration recently when the building society distributed £50 to eligible members as part of the so-called The Big Nationwide Thank You. This was a bonus handout following its purchase last year of rival Virgin Money. Your granddaughter was issued a cheque but was unable to pay it into her Australian account as that country's banks no longer accept cheques in foreign currencies. I stepped in to ask Nationwide to resolve both the problem of the CTF and the bonus cheque and give her access to her £452. It took about three weeks but eventually Nationwide found a way 'given the exceptional situation'. It agreed to verify your granddaughter's ID over the phone and sent the CTF funds and the bonus to her Australian account by bank transfer once it received an emailed copy of a recent bank statement. A spokesman for Nationwide says: 'We apologise for the time it has taken to find a solution and we will offer her £50 as compensation.' By coincidence, reader D. F., from Stroud, Gloucestershire, had a similar tale regarding her grandson's savings account with Coventry Building Society. Now 21, he emigrated aged six to New Zealand, but in January tried to access the cash to help with his university costs. He was told this could be done only by closing the account and raising a cheque for the £787.86 balance. This was done, but New Zealand also no longer accepts foreign currency cheques. All was resolved by reopening the old account, paying the cheque back in and raising another in the name of his grandmother. This could be done only on receipt of a letter of consent from the grandson who also had to provide a copy of his passport and driving licence, validated by a Justice of the Peace. After a tedious five months of effort, D. F. will shortly be able to transfer the money from her account to her grandson's. Straight to the point I booked an easyJet flight from Newcastle to Paris for June 6 but the airline cancelled the flight the night before. I was given no explanation. I've tried twice to claim compensation through the website but it keeps telling me my details don't match the customer on the booking, when it does. It's almost impossible to speak to someone on the phone. N.A., Durham. Easyjet apologises and says you will be compensated. It says the first claim was filled out incorrectly while the second was rejected due to a mismatch of information. *** I bought a television from John Lewis for £2,999. It has a 'price promise', which means if I find the same product at another retailer for a lower price within seven days of making the purchase, it will refund the difference. I found one for £2,699 so submitted a claim, but it was rejected. I made the purchase at 10.30pm on a Tuesday so thought I could make a claim up to the same time the following week. I made the claim around 4pm the following Tuesday, but John Lewis won't accept this. R.W., via email. John Lewis says it recognises your frustration and has refunded the price difference. *** In May my phone, which had my bank card in the case, was stolen out of my pocket while I was in Benidorm. The thief used my Apple Pay, which was linked to a different bank account, to transfer money to the account linked with my physical card. They withdrew £1,450 from cash machines. I couldn't freeze the account until four days after the card was stolen as I no longer had my mobile phone to do this on the app. I later attempted to dispute the transactions with the bank, but it says they aren't fraudulent. B.B., via email. Your bank apologises and is paying you the £1,450 along with £250 in compensation. Write to Sally Hamilton at Sally Sorts It, Money Mail, Northcliffe House, 2 Derry Street, London W8 5TT or email sally@ — include phone number, address and a note addressed to the offending organisation giving them permission to talk to Sally Hamilton. Please do not send original documents as we cannot take responsibility for them. No legal responsibility can be accepted by the Daily Mail for answers given.

Ferrari Exec Delivers Brutal Blow To Manual Lovers

Don't get excited about a manual Purosangue or 296 While Porsche still has a few manual sports cars, it's been over a decade since Ferrari abandoned the stick shift with the California. While many enthusiasts get all giddy at the idea of a manual Ferrari, the truth of the matter is that the people who buy these cars mostly chose the automatic, hence the Italian marque's decision to discontinue this gearbox option. 0:03 / 0:09 Audi A5 replaces A4: So, what's changed? Watch More Although Ferrari recently hinted at a comeback for manual models, that now seems to be in doubt once more. At the reveal of the stunning new Amalfi, a Ferrari exec had a cheeky response when asked about the possible return of a manual. Go Used Or Go Home 'You missed! The manual gearbox, we already have it, in many of our classic cars,' said Enrico Galliera, Ferrari's chief marketing and commercial officer when speaking to Evo. 'You can go and drive our fantastic manual gearboxes on our fantastic events for our classic cars. Whoever wants to have this kind of classic experience, they can buy and restore our fantastic classics and come to our events.' Although we weren't there to cast judgment on Galliera's tone when answering the question, this response had more than a hint of exasperation to it (we counted at least four 'fantastics' in there) and possibly stems from him being asked about manual Ferraris one too many times. 'We offer Corsa Pilotti on classic cars because many people don't know how to use the manual cars,' continued Galliera. 'It's an important experience that we can offer on our classic cars for the time being.' Then again, this isn't a brand that chases volumes, and looking beyond pure vehicle sales at Ferrari as a business, things are going well. Operating profit over the same period was up by 23%, net revenues grew by 13%, and net profit was up by 17%. So, it's not as if the absence of a manual is affecting its bottom line. Looking back at the California, thousands were sold with the dual-clutch automatic, and a mere three examples had a manual. That's a lot of investment for a feature that so few buyers want. Furthermore, it's not as if rivals are bombarding the market with manual options. Lamborghini, for example, last sold a manual in 2013 on the Gallardo. Nostalgia is a powerful tool, though, and we're sure Ferrari would have no trouble selling a limited-run, bespoke manual model that recalls the past. What we don't see is the manual returning as an option on regular production models like the 296 or Purosangue. As Galliera made clear, your best bet is to indulge in a classic Prancing Horse if you want to shift gears yourself. About the Author Karl Furlong View Profile
