Los Angeles overcame a three-run deficit after squandering a five-run lead.
Ohtani hit a 1-2 pitch from Ryan Thompson with one out to break a tie at 11-11. Earlier in the inning, Andy Pages and Enrique Hernandez had RBI doubles and Max Muncy tied the game with an RBI single off Kevin Ginkel (0-1), who gave up four straight hits to open the ninth.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had a grand slam and five RBIs, Ketel Marte homered twice and Eugenio Suarez and Randal Grichuk also went deep for the D-backs in the slugfest, which featured seven homers and 14 extra-base hits.
Ohtani added two doubles and four RBIs and Hernandez had a homer, three hits and three runs for the Dodgers, who earned their major-league-leading 14th comeback victory.
Los Angeles' Freddie Freeman, who singled to open the ninth, had two hits and a sacrifice fly while extending his hitting streak to 14 games. Pages had two hits and three RBIs, and Mookie Betts finished with two hits and an RBI.
Alex Vesia (1-0) gave up two homers in the eighth but got the win. Tanner Scott pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his ninth save.
Hernandez homered to open a two-run second when Los Angeles tied it at 3-3, and the first seven Dodgers reached base in a five-run third off Eduardo Rodriguez. The frame included a two-run single by Pages.
Gurriel drove in a run with a groundout in the fourth, and his 401-foot slam off Anthony Banda tied the game at 8-8 in the fifth. Suarez walked with the bases loaded off Luis Garcia in the sixth for the go-ahead run.
The D-backs got bases-empty homers by Marte and Grichuk off Vesia in the eighth for an 11-8 lead.
Dodgers starter Roki Sasaki gave up five hits and five runs in four-plus innings, leaving with an 8-4 lead that Gurriel's homer overcame. Sasaki walked two, hit one and had no strikeouts. He started on five days' rest, his shortest rest period of the season.
Rodriguez gave eight runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out three in 2 2/3 innings.

Maria Sharapova 'puts LA mansion with bowling alley and stunning views on the market for £18.5MILLION!' As ex-tennis star and British fiance Alexander Gilkes 'set sights on European return'
Former tennis star Maria Sharapova has reportedly put her extravagant Los Angeles mansion up for sale for a whopping £18.5million. The five-time Grand Slam winner is ready to move out of the luxury home - which boasts an indoor bowling alley and gorgeous sea views - after 13 years, a report has claimed. Sharapova is engaged to British businessman Alexander Gilkes, 46, and the couple are understood to be keen on moving to Europe, the Sun has claimed. According to the Wall Street Journal, the minimalist Japanese-inspired home - fit with exposed concrete walls and a large pool - is up for sale for £18.5m. The 38-year-old showed off her extraordinary home in an interview with Architectural Digest in 2019 and hailed the 'indoor-outdoor' feel she was able to achieve in its design. On her striking pool, placed right outside the dining area, she said: 'Usually you have a pool and then a lawn and then a home. But I wanted the pool really close to the home. 'I didn't want that space between, I wanted to see the water from kitchen so getting it a close as possible to the home was a challenge but we managed it.' Elsewhere, Sharapova's pad includes a second-floor balcony which provides stunning views across Los Angeles, with Catalina Island visible in the distance. The former Wimbledon champion rocketed to fame when she beat top seed and defending champion Williams 21 years ago to win her first Grand Slam at just 17. During her storied time on court, Sharapova become the first Russian player to complete the career Grand Slam after wins in Melbourne, New York, Paris and London and the third-youngest woman to triumph at Wimbledon. But her career was marred by a 2016 failed drugs test, which saw Sharapova suspended for two years after she was found to have ingested meldonium, a substance which had been banned at the start of that year, ahead of the Australian Open. Her suspension was later reduced to 15 months after she was found to have taken the drug as per her doctor's advice, and Sharapova returned to competition in April 2017, and won the Tianjin Open seven months later. After struggling with chronic shoulder issues for a number of years, Sharapova announced her retirement in 2020, sharing an emotional goodbye message with her followers that spoke to her deep connection to the game. Maria and Alexander first started dating in 2018 just two years after Alexander - who has deep royal ties - ended his seven year marriage to Meghan Markle's best friend Misha Nonoo. The former tennis star is engaged to British businessman Alexander Gilkes (right) and the pair have one child together The British businessman proposed to the five-time Grand Slam tennis champion in December 2020. He presented her with a dazzling £300,000 diamond engagement ring. The couple welcomed their first child in 2022.

World Athletics monitoring outstanding Grand Slam Track payments to athletes
Sebastian Coe says World Athletics is closely monitoring outstanding athlete payments from Michael Johnson's Grand Slam Track series, admitting: 'There is no point in pretending this is a satisfactory situation.' Johnson unexpectedly cancelled the final Los Angeles leg of his new four-meeting series last month following low spectator numbers at the opening three editions in Kingston, Miami and Philadelphia. The series announced a total prize fund of $12.6m (£9.3m) at its launch earlier this year, but a number of athletes are understood yet to receive payment. It is not unusual for a time lag between competition and remuneration but, given the abrupt end to the aborted first season, runners are increasingly concerned over individual payments that stretch well into six figures. 'It's not good,' said Lord Coe, the global governing body's president. 'The one thing that World Athletics has always stood strongly behind is the athletes. So yeah, this is not a good situation. It's a startup, but the athletes do need paying.' He added: 'For these things to work, they can't be vanity projects. They have to be suffused in practicality and deliverability. I just want the events that are going to add lustre, that we can find space for, and we will encourage them to at least have the courtesy of spending that kind of time and that kind of effort, both intellectual and resource, in making sure they work.' Grand Slam Track champions at each meet receive $100,000 (£74,000) in addition to substantial appearance fees. Britain's 400m Olympic medallist Matthew Hudson-Smith won the short sprint category in Kingston and Philadelphia, with Josh Kerr triumphing in the short distance category in Miami. While Grand Slam Track declined to comment, it is understood agents have been informed that their athletes will receive payment for the Kingston event by the end of this month, with later meet payments following before the end of September. The Guardian understands that some athletes have received appearance money from the opening meet. Asked if World Athletics has the power to intervene on athletes' behalf, Coe replied: 'Well, let's just watch this space.' Johnson's brainchild has been touted as a direct competitor to World Athletics' Diamond League circuit, which had stood unchallenged as the primary season-long athletics competition since it succeeded the Golden League in 2010. Speaking to the Guardian in April, Johnson denied fears that the $30m of investment in Grand Slam Track could run out before he is able to change the sport. 'We're in this for the long haul,' he said. 'Startups aren't profitable in year one. You know, if anybody comes to you with a startup, saying: 'Hey, we're going to be profitable in year one,' run away as fast as you can. But we will continue to grow.' Coe insists he remains fully supportive of privately funded athletics events. 'It was in everybody's interest for something like this to be successful,' he said. 'We're not the 'computer says no' command-and-control federation. So we were very clear that this had to be done properly and executed properly. Hopefully, [create] an additional attraction in the sport.' Meanwhile, Coe confirmed World Athletics remains committed to introducing DNA tests for all elite female athletes ahead of September's world championships. Coe initially announced the policy in March to 'guarantee the integrity of female women's sport'. It will involve a non-invasive one‑time cheek swab or dry blood test. Tests are due to begin in the coming weeks once the World Athletics Council has confirmed procedural regulations.
