
TTE returns bag containing valuables to passenger
A Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE), B. Avinash, of the Vijayawada Division, South Central Railway (SCR), proved his honesty by handing over a bag left in the train by a passenger.
Gold jewellery, worth about ₹2 lakh, ₹37,000 cash and an Aadhar Card were found in the bag.
The TTE noticed the bag in the A3 coach of Gowthami Express (from Rayanapadu to Kakinada town). Mr. Avinash alerted the on-duty Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and called up the passenger.
After confirming its ownership, the TTE handed over the bag to the owner, who thanked Mr. Avinash, the RPF and the Ministry of Railways for the sincerity of the staff.
Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Narendra A. Patil, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM) Vavilapalli Rambabu and other officers on Friday commended the TTE for his sincerity.

Thieves attempt robbery in Visakha Express train at Piduguralla, railway police open fire
Robbers made a vain bid to loot passengers in Bhubaneswar-Secunderabad Visakha Express train at around 3 a.m. on Sunday (June 29, 2025.) Alert Government Railway Police (GRP), who were on escort duty in the train opened fire on the thieves and prevented the offence. The GRP, Palnadu district and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) police launched a hunt to nab the thieves, who escaped into the nearby villages. RPF Assistant Security Commissioner B. Sailesh Kumar, who visited the spot said when the train reached Tummalapalem village two robbers pulled chain in S1 coach and tried to stop the train. Nadikudi GRP SI Venkatadri, who noticed thieves opened fire and chased them. 'Other members of the robber gang who were waiting near the tracks pelted stones. When another constable too opened fire along with the SI, the thieves escaped into the dark,' Guntur Deputy Superintendent of Railway Police (DSRP) Akkeswara Rao said. 'After the robbery attempt, the train was stopped for 17 minutes at Tummalapalem village. Efforts are on nab the thieves. Police opened nine rounds of fire on the gang,' Mr. Sailesh Kumar told The Hindu. 'This is the second robbery attempt on Pidiguralla-Nadikudi area in just five days. Thieves attempted to rob passengers in S4 bogie in Visakha-Charlapalli Special train two days ago by pulling the chain,' the Assistant Security Commissioner said.

RPF Nagpur division of Central Railway rescues 61 kids in 2 months, saves 12 lives
Nagpur: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Nagpur Division of Central Railway rescued 61 children under Operation Nanhe Farishte during April–May 2025, which is only behind Bhusaval among the divisions in the state. RPF had rescued 36 children in Nagpur division during the same period in 2024. The effort is part of a broader initiative across Central Railway to assist lost or runaway children and reunite them with their families. RPF across all divisions of Central Railway rescued 235 children during the two months, as compared to 149 in April–May 2024. Division-wise, Bhusaval rescued 62 children (45 in 2024), Mumbai 53 (52 in 2024), Pune 51 (10 in 2024) and Solapur 8 (6 in 2024). These operations are conducted in coordination with the Government Railway Police (GRP), frontline railway staff, and NGOs like Childline. Most of the rescued children had arrived at stations without informing their families due to personal or family issues, or in search of urban opportunities. Trained RPF personnel engage with the children, counsel them, and coordinate reunification with guardians. Parallely, under Operation Jeevan Raksha, Central Railway RPF personnel also saved the lives of 12 passengers (9 males and 3 females) who were in dangerous situations while boarding or alighting from moving trains during April-May 2025. This figure is up from seven persons (5 males and 2 females) during the same period last year.

Inspector Rajoul Nagar of GRP said on Saturday that the joint team of GRP and RPF caught Jaiswal near foot overbridge of platform-1 of Varanasi Junction and recovered from him a fake identity card of a TTE, along with a smartphone, Northern Railway Tatkal ticket booking form and Rs 570 cash. Posing as a travel ticket examiner, he had been selling fake travel tickets and extorting money from passengers travelling without ticket at railway stations between Varanasi and Gaya. He came on the radar of GRP and RPF after he sold two fake sleeper class tickets to a woman recently. When she arrived to board the train, it came to light that no such compartment was attached to it and she filed a complaint. Railway police started searching for him. Three days back, when he sold another fake ticket to a person, the latter checked its PNR and alerted govt railway police. Following these developments, apart from GRP and railway protection force, Central Bureau of Investigation personnel too swung into action and arrested him on Friday evening.
