Mahindra Racing Formula E team is set to achieve big things this year
Mahindra Racing's achievement was highlighted by Formula E, which shared a post on Instagram to laud the team. The picture of team drivers Edoardo Mortara and Nyck De Vries was captioned: 'What a turnaround from @MahindraRacing surpassing their Season 10 points total in the first 5 rounds,' along with clapping emojis.
The team was struggling at just 47 points last season, but it has already made 51 points in 5 rounds out of 16 races. As a result, it's in fifth position in the Teams' Standings this year. While Mortara stands at 8th position in the Drivers' Standings with 27 points, De Vries is at 11th position with 24 points.
In its run so far in Formula E's inaugural season, Mahindra Racing has participated in 136 races, out of which it has won just 5 and clinched 24 podiums. They are yet to win a pole position or a podium this season so far, but it's great going and good results are sure to follow.
The current season has seen a lot of ups and downs already. It started on a strong note for the team as Mortara and De Vries managed to take 5th and 6th positions in the season opener Sao Paulo E-Prix, respectively. De Vries slipped to 8th position in the second race in Mexico, whereas Mortara failed to leave an impression. The two bounced back strongly at Jeddah E-Prix Round 1, where De Vries climbed to an impressive 4th position and Mortara finished 7th. But they once again slipped to 10th and 13th positions in Round 2.
At the Miami E-Prix this month, Mortara once again bounced back by clenching 5th position, but De Vries finished 11th in the race. Team principal Frederic Bertrand is always seen encouraging the drivers and had written after the impressive Miami E-Prix, 'We keep pushing, fighting, improving! Great job @mahindraracing this week-end in Miami! Both cars in top 10 on the grid - 100% duel in S11! - points again with P5/P11 at the end of the race - we scored points in 100% of races in S11, - we get to P5 in teams championship.'

Sydney, Jun 28 (PTI) Former Australia keeper-batter Brad Haddin believes the Indian team, led by Shubman Gill, needs an "attitude adjustment" as the visitors try to find a way out of their fielding woes in the ongoing five-Test series in England. Indian fielders, especially Yashasvi Jaiswal, dropped several catches as Gill's side lost the opening Test at Headingley by five wickets to go 0-1 down against Ben Stokes' team. The 47-year-old Haddin, who played 66 Tests and scored more than 6,500 runs across formats for Australia, said that all the great cricket teams across different eras had good fielding as their distinguishing feature. "Every great team, no matter what era you are playing, the one standout they've always had... they've been great fielding teams. And, I think, that's the one legacy (Shubman) Gill can start to leave now on this team," said Haddin in his Willow Talk podcast. "It needs an attitude adjustment if you want to field well and compete the whole time, it's only attitude," Haddin added. Young opener Jaiswal, who was fielding in the slips and gully region, crucial catches off the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah, leaving the pace spearhead frustrated. Indicating that Indian players' poor fielding was evident during this year's Indian Premier League, Haddin said the catching had left a lot to be desired during the two-month-long T20 tournament. "In the IPL this year, the catching was horrible. Yes, we talk about talented bowlers, batsmen, but it was the catching that was a real problem." He said that there was nothing stopping India from becoming the best fielding side in the world given the kind of talent they had. "And the one thing I'd say to India, is find a way to be the best fielding team in the world because you've got the talent everywhere else," he said. India will hope to overcome their shortcoming and level the series when the second Test gets underway in Birmingham on July 2.

In a meeting with the (AIFF) technical committee on 17 April, Paul reportedly said that the players showed a lack of desire and spirit. According to the minutes of the meeting accessed by the Hindustan Times, Paul said the team had issues with player attitude, team unity, and even 'patriotism.' These included issues related to Player's attitude (sic), patriotism and overall team spirit,' the minutes read. However, Paul later clarified that he did not talk about patriotism and that he didn't know how the word got into the minutes. More from Football Indian football legend and current executive committee member of AIFF, Bhaichung Bhutia, said Paul should explain what he meant and name the players who weren't giving their best. Bhutia and Paul were teammates during India's successful run between 2007 and 2011. 'And he should name the players who he felt had not given their best so that they are not chosen anymore,' Bhutia said. While speaking on the matter, Paul said that he didn't see the same hunger to perform for the country during the Bangladesh clash that players like Bhutia, Climax Lawrence, Deepak Mondal, and Sameer Naik had shown in the past. He added that it's his job to highlight these issues, even if some people don't like it. He also said that the team is in a transition phase with a mix of experienced and new players, which could be why they haven't gelled as a unit yet. 'I missed the desire that I saw in so many of my seniors and contemporaries such as Bhaichung bhai, Climax Lawrence, Sameer Naik, Deepak Mondal to name a few. The desire to play for the national team overrode everything including injuries,' Paul was quoted as saying by HT. 'It is my responsibility as national team director to point that out. Since that match, India lost two more games - a 0-2 defeat against Thailand in a friendly and a in another AFC Asian Cup qualifier.
