New Delhi: An AK-47 rifle magazine has been found in the bag of Asif Mahmud, the young face of the interim government of Mohammad Yunus of Bangladesh. The magazine was found inside Dhaka airport in the luggage of Asif, the advisor (minister) of the Rural Development and Cooperative Department in the Yunus government. What happened at Dhaka airport?
This shocking incident happened when he was going to Morocco to attend the meeting of the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) as a representative of Bangladesh. When Asif went to the airport to take a flight, the magazine was found in his bag during the check. Asif is among those young leaders who played an important role in overthrowing the government of Sheikh Hasina by leading the students last year.
According to the report of Northeast News, Asif Mahmud was going through the Identity and Security Check (INS) at the airport. During this, the scanning machine indicated suspicious items in his handbag. On this, the security personnel took Asif Mahmud's bag and checked it and found an AK-47 rifle magazine inside it. The airport management and security agencies are silent on this matter and the Yunus government is also trying to cover it up. Why was Asif not questioned?
Despite finding the magazine, Bangladeshi security officials allowed Asif Mahmud to take a flight to Turkey. Asif Mahmud first went to Istanbul for the OIC meeting and from there to Marrakech, Morocco. The report claims that Asif Mahmud's handbag was not passed through the mandatory check and security process at the time of entry into the airport. In such a situation, the magazine was found in his bag just before taking the flight.
Bangladeshi security agency sources have said that Asif Mahmud could not give a satisfactory answer to the officers regarding the question related to finding an AK-47 magazine in his bag. Asif made a weak excuse that he forgot to remove the magazine from the bag while packing. In such a situation, he expresses regret over it. The security officials accepted this and let him go. He was not questioned in detail about the magazine being found. Yunus government maintains silence
Bangladesh interim government head Mohammad Yunus and Home Ministry advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury have maintained silence on this issue. There has been no statement from the government on such a big incident as the discovery of an AK-47 magazine inside Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport with an important government figure. There are many discussions in the political corridors of Dhaka about why a government advisor has kept weapons like AK-47 with him.

Illegal B'deshis skipping usual entry points, learning Hindi first: Cops

Mumbai: Many Bangladeshi nationals illegally entering India are bypassing traditional illegal routes through West Bengal's Kalyani, Howrah and Kolkata due to increased border patrolling and are instead opting for roads to Guwahati, shows MIDC police's probe. Upon arrival, they allegedly stay confined to homes for some time to learn Hindi and scrub out all markers of identity from their speech to avoid detection when stepping out to look for jobs. MIDC police, who arrested seven illegal Bangladeshis in Mumbai and Pune last week, have found that agents in West Bengal are charging Rs 50,000-1 lakh each for forged Aadhaar and PAN cards to allow such immigrants to settle in different parts of the country. Of the seven who were arrested, five—all women—were sent to Pune immediately upon arrival in India and confined to a rental home. There, a police officer said, they underwent training in Hindi. The women worked as domestic help and at salons. Police caught them on June 26 and plan to take legal proceedings against the flat owner. Shaikh, a Bangladeshi, entered India through Guwahati and stayed in Palghar while being employed in Andheri for the past year. Authorities learnt that he brought at least six women from Bangladesh, employing them in Mumbai and Pune. Based on information from Shaikh, DCP (zone 10) Datta Nalawade led a team, including ACP Shashikant Bhosale, MIDC police inspector Sanjay Chavan, assistant inspector Yash Palwe, and SIs Mahadev Jagtap and Dhanshree Dembare, that nabbed two persons in Andheri and then the five women in Pune. The police investigation began after a govt resolution was issued on June 23, which held owners of establishments accountable if they employ illegal Bangladeshi migrants, effectively making them responsible for providing shelter to such individuals. It said govt will amend the laws, if needed, to initiate action against offenders. Govt will also implement an online system for document verification, according to the home department's directive.

2 B'deshi nationals nabbed by locals in Cachar, handed over to cops

Silchar: Residents of Cachar district on Sunday caught two Bangladeshi nationals, including a woman, while allegedly attempting to cross the Indo-Bangladesh international border illegally. The incident occurred in the Chowrongee area under Katigorah circle, which lies close to the international border with Bangladesh. According to sources, three individuals were spotted loitering suspiciously in the area. When confronted by residents, one of the three managed to escape, while the remaining two were detained by locals and later handed over to the police. Police sources said preliminary investigation suggests that the duo had entered India illegally several years ago and had been working as labourers in Gujarat. With a crackdown on undocumented migrants reportedly underway in Gujarat, they fled to Cachar intending to return to Bangladesh through the porous Katigorah border. "This seems to be part of a larger pattern where illegal immigrants, fearing detention or deportation from other Indian states, attempt to exit the country through the Cachar border," said a senior police official on condition of anonymity. This is not an isolated incident. Between May 24 and June 25, 88 illegal immigrants were intercepted and pushed back by authorities in Cachar district. Most of these apprehensions occurred in Katigorah and surrounding areas, often following timely tip-offs from vigilant locals. Officials said security has been stepped up along vulnerable border stretches, and intelligence inputs are being acted upon promptly to prevent illegal infiltration and exfiltration. Police are continuing their search for the third individual who evaded capture.
