Nitish Kumar Reddy faces legal trouble after getting ruled out of England tour; here's why
Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has found himself in legal trouble as a Delhi-based talent agency has filed a case against him for unpaid dues. According to News18 CricketNext, the agency named Square The One has taken Reddy to the Delhi High Court, with the matter listed for July 28.
Why is Reddy facing legal trouble?
Reports suggest that Reddy breached the management agreement with the agency and failed to clear pending payments. Reddy had ended his three-year-long association with the agency last year during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. He reportedly signed with a manager of another player while on the tour and ditched his old company.
Square The One reportedly managed Reddy's off-field commitments for the past three years, during which he made a name for himself with performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and international games. The agency claims it was still owed money even after the partnership ended.

As per a report in India Today, the agency is said to have helped Reddy get several brand endorsements and commercial deals during their partnership. However, the Indian cricketer refused to pay anything and claimed that he got all the deals on his own.

Reddy ruled out of England series
The 21-year-old, who became a household name while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023, has been a promising name in Indian cricket. He featured in all five Tests of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, scoring 298 runs and taking five wickets.
He was also part of the ongoing India vs England Test series, playing the second and third matches before a knee injury in training ruled him out of the final two games. Reddy has flown back home, with Shardul Thakur replacing him in the playing XI for the ongoing fourth Test at Old Trafford, Manchester.

Gautam Gambhir needs to loosen up, may be take a "chill pill", feels cricketer-turned-analyst Sanjay Manjrekar, who strongly believes that India earned a creditable draw in the fourth Test against England here despite some not-so-great tactical calls by the national team's head coach. "Even if he hadn't performed the way he did, we would still have had complete faith in his talent. What matters is that he's living up to his expectations and potential. More importantly, the so-called pressure of captaincy doesn't seem to affect him when he bats; he plays as a batsman, not as a captain," he added. Manjrekar, the veteran of 37 Tests, is known to speak his mind on various issues pertaining to Indian cricket, which at times doesn't conform to the popular point of view. After listening to Gambhir's press conference, the Mumbaikar couldn't help but express his take on 'JioHostar'. "Yeah, you can tell there are certain questions that get under his skin— especially when people question Gill as a young captain and batter. And honestly, those are valid doubts. "Even people who deeply understand cricket wonder whether this was the right time to hand him that opportunity. I just hope we can all understand this better," Manjrekar said. Over the past decade, whether it is some recently-retired superstars or current head coach and one or two senior players, there is always talk about "outside noise" which loosely means anyone who is critical of the team other than those present inside the confines of the dressing room. "It's not about 'you guys think' and 'we think'— we're all part of the same industry and the same country. I'd just like to see him take a chill pill, relax a bit, and be open to tough questions. Whether that will happen, I'm not sure," said Manjrekar. Manjrekar was also dismissive of Gambhir's assertion that Karun Nair wasn't dropped after his poor run of scores but just the best eleven was picked. "And to suggest that Karun Nair 'wasn't dropped'... come on. You guys see it as a drop; for them, it's about 'picking the right team'. If someone is dropped, he is dropped," he added.

Delhi High Court to hear pleas against Centre's nod to release Udaipur Files film on July 30
The Delhi High Court on Monday (July 28, 2025) said it would hear on July 30, the pleas challenging the Centre's nod to release the film "Udaipur Files — Kanhaiya Lal Tailor Murder". The Court was also informed that an application has been made by the producers of the film to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for re-certification of the movie, and it is likely to be considered shortly. A bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela listed the pleas for hearing on Wednesday (July 30, 2025) after a request for adjournment was made on behalf of one of the petitioners. The two petitions were listed before the High Court in pursuance to the Supreme Court's direction to the petitioners to approach the high court against the Centre's decision of giving nod for the film's release. The petitions have been filed by Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind president Maulana Arshad Madani and Mohd Javed, who is an accused in the Kanhaiya Lal murder case. The apex court, on July 25, had said that film-makers' appeal against the High Court order staying the film's release was infructuous for they had accepted the July 21 Centre nod for the film's release, subject to six cuts in its scenes and modifications in the disclaimer. Udaipur-based tailor Kanhaiya Lal was murdered in June 2022 allegedly by Mohammad Riyaz and Mohammad Ghous. The assailants later released a video claiming that the murder was in reaction to the tailor allegedly sharing a social media post in support of former BJP member Nupur Sharma following her controversial comments on Prophet Mohammed. The case was probed by the NIA and the accused were booked under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, besides provisions under the IPC. The trial is pending before the special NIA court in Jaipur.
