Aubrey Plaza made her first public appearance since her husband, director Jeff Baena, died last month. The 'Parks and Recreation' star appeared briefly on 'SNL50' on Feb. 16 when she introduced a musical performance.
Plaza welcomed Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard to the 'SNL' stage before the duo performed 'Nothing Compares 2 U,' which was written by Prince and later recorded by Sinéad O'Connor.
'Ladies and gentlemen, Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard,' Plaza said, while holding a microphone as she stood in the audience with her back to the stage.
Plaza was wearing a blazer over a tie-dyed shirt. She previously spoke about her late husband's interest in tie-dying, noting that the style was part of their outfits when they got married.
'Jeff got really into tie-dying during the quarantine, so I decided that Jeff and I were going to wear tie-dye pajamas that he had made for us,' Plaza said on 'The Drew Barrymore Show' in 2021. 'I made a love altar in the backyard of all of our love objects. It was very witchcore, but it happened.'
Plaza has not been seen in public since Baena died by suicide on Jan. 3.
'This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support,' his family said in a statement following his death. 'Please respect our privacy during this time.'
Baena co-wrote the 2004 movie 'I Heart Huckabees,' created the 2021 Showtime anthology series 'Cinema Toast' and directed the 2020 Netflix film 'Horse Girl.'
He and Plaza also collaborated over the years on several projects including 'Life After Beth,' 'The Little Hours' and 'Spin Me Round.'
When Brady Corbet won the Golden Globe Award for best director for 'The Brutalist' on Jan. 5, he mentioned Baena and Plaza in his acceptance speech while honoring people he knew who recently died.
'And finally, tonight my heart is with Aubrey Plaza and Jeff's family. Goodnight,' Corbet said.

Jeff Brazier ‘makes surprising legal move' after concerns for son Freddy

Jeff Brazier has made a major move in his legal case against Jade Goody's mum Jackiey Budden. Over the years Jeff and Jackiey have repeatedly come to blows publicly, with the situation between them becoming so tense that she lost contact with her grandsons for several years. In March Jeff, 45, launched a legal bid to prevent his son Freddy, 20, from seeing his maternal grandmother. It was reported at the time that the TV presenter, who also shares son Bobby with the late Big Brother star, was taking action to 'legally block contact' between Freddy and Jackiey, 68 due to concerns over 'keeping his son safe'. Soon after Jackiey lashed out at Jeff, calling him names when asked about the legal proceedings. Not long after she was photographed 'smoking a joint' with her grandson in South London. A few months on though and Jeff has now reportedly dropped the case after 'making peace' with Jackiey. 'Effectively they've all made peace for the time being and are trying to make things better again, which is doing them the world of good,' a source told The Sun. 'It's actually the perfect outcome for everyone, and exactly what Jade would have wanted. The boys are happier for it, and the constant in-fighting has stopped… for now.' They added that Freddy 'remains devoted' to his grandmother and had been 'threatening to leave the UK to be with his grandmother abroad if Jeff carried on his legal case'. A source also told the publication that Freddy is again living with Jackiey in her flat in South London, but is also spending time with his dad and brother. Last week Jeff reunited with his sons at 101 Dalmatians: The Musical at the Eventim Apollo in London, where he made his West End debut. 'So lovely to have both the lads come along to watch me in @101dalmatiansuk I love how much it made them laugh and it was really special that they were both there to support me. Thanks for coming @freddybrazier_ @bobbybrazier,' he wrote on Instagram alongside a photo with his sons. 'What a show, loved every minute of it! Most of all I loved watching you just play and have fun. I love you Dad,' Freddy commented. On Monday night he also posted a photo of his dad on Instagram and shared a touching caption. 'Grateful for my dad's advice. Grateful that forgiveness is a thing. Grateful that I got to see someone important to me. Grateful for my boys.' Goody died aged 27 from cervical cancer in 2009, when Freddy was just four years old. During his appearance on Race Across the World with his dad last year, Freddy shared a heartbreaking insight into his grief following the death of his mum when he was so young. 'I lost my mum when I was four and that was on Mother's Day, which is really hard. I don't really like showing my emotions. I don't even speak to my dad much about my mum either. I just avoid it. I prefer to bottle it up,' he said. More Trending 'I don't want to feel like I'm a burden to them. A lot of my memories that I have of my mum have come from watching a documentary, YouTube clips, newspapers, they are not my memories. While holding back tears, he continued: 'I don't really remember being held by my mum. If I had more memories of her, it would have made it a whole lot harder for me. 'But I think I would rather that than not really remember the things that I had done with my mum. It's just life really and I've kind of accepted that.' Jeff Brazier has 'dropped' legal case against Jackiey Budden as he patches up his feud with sons Freddy and Bobby

has reportedly dropped his legal case against Jade Goody 's mum Jackiey Budden. It was previously revealed that Jeff, had set up a court date to stop his youngest son Freddy, 20, from seeing his maternal grandmother amid rising concerns over his well being. Jeff has long insisted she is a bad influence on the troubled youngster - with the pair enduring a series of very public disputes over the years. However now The Sun has revealed that the family have now patched things up and Jeff has dropped his legal case. A source told the publication that Freddy is once again living with Jackiey in her flat in South London, but is also spending time with Jeff and Bobby. Last week the TV presenter was seen reunited with his sons at 101 Dalmatians: The Musical at the Eventim Apollo in London, where Jeff made his West End debut. The source said: 'Effectively they've all made peace for the time being and are trying to make things better again, which is doing them the world of good. 'It's actually the perfect outcome for everyone, and exactly what Jade would have wanted. The boys are happier for it, and the constant in-fighting has stopped... for now. While Jeff and Jackiey will never be friends, they added: 'Freddy remains devoted to her — and was threatening to leave the UK to be with his grandmother abroad if Jeff carried on his legal case.' While a few weeks ago it still looked as though court action would be taken, they have instead reached a peaceful resolution. Daily Mail has contacted Jeff's representatives for comment. Back in June The Mail On Sunday revealed that Freddy was again spending time at Jackiey's Bermondsey flat despite his father filing court paperwork in an effort to keep his son away. Family friends say the duo remain 'extremely close,' explaining: 'Jeff was never going to keep Freddy away from his Nanny for very long - they've always had a strong bond, Jeff may hate her for all sorts of reasons going back many years, but Freddy loves her very much. 'They had a great time together, playing with her dog and catching up at her flat - where he has often stayed over the years. Whatever Jeff hoped to achieve with his legal efforts, it hasn't worked.' In June, Freddy announced on Instagram that he was going to a rehabilitation centre in Spain, admitting he had been addicted to smoking since he was 12 and was keen to seek treatment. He said: 'I've been smoking from the age of 12 and it's time to stop it was a bad coping mechanism that turned into an addiction something I relied on and something that made me feel sane and somewhat okay.' But days after the admission, Freddy posted again online saying he had changed his mind, writing: 'You know what I don't need rehab. I just need a holiday with a good group of boys or a retreat.' Freddy lost his mother, former Big Brother star Jade, to cervical cancer in 2009 when he was just four years old. During his appearance on BBC's Celebrity Race Across the World, Freddy spoke on the grief he has suffered following his mother's tragic passing. He said: 'I don't really remember being held by my mum… if I had more memories with her, it would have made it a whole lot harder for me, but I think I would rather that than not remembering the things I had done with my mum.'

Why Jeff and Freddy Brazier have called an uneasy truce over ban on gran Jackiey – as shock twists behind feud revealed

Read on to find out who the surprising 'peacekeeper' was during the bitter row - and Jeff's shock new legal move FEUD OVER Why Jeff and Freddy Brazier have called an uneasy truce over ban on gran Jackiey – as shock twists behind feud revealed IT is a toxic tale of drug use, 'spying' claims and a ruthlessly aggressive public slanging match that has cast a dark shadow over the legacy of Jade Goody. Today, The Sun can reveal the tense, behind-the-scenes machinations that have seen the late reality star's mum, Jackiey Budden, and the father of her two boys, Jeff Brazier, reach the unlikeliest of ceasefires. Advertisement This Morning star Jeff has quietly dropped his legal case against Jackiey after his son even threatened to flee the UK with his gran. It was this fragile detente that saw Freddy, his Strictly star brother Bobby and their dad put on a surprising show of unity this week at a London theatre launch, where Jeff is appearing in 101 Dalmatians. A source explained: 'Freddy is back living with Jackiey again at her flat in South London, but still spending time with his dad and brother, too. Effectively they've all made peace for the time being and are trying to make things better again, which is doing them the world of good. 'It's actually the perfect outcome for everyone, and exactly what Jade would have wanted. The boys are happier for it, and the constant in-fighting has stopped . . . for now. 'There's no denying that Jackiey and Jeff will never be the best of friends, or even close, but for now it's a peaceful solution. Advertisement 'Granted, she still calls him a 'c**k' to her friends but, crucially, she never bad-mouths Jeff in front of his kids. 'Freddy remains devoted to her — and was threatening to leave the UK to be with his grandmother abroad if Jeff carried on his legal case. 'Even a few weeks ago, it looked as though things would never calm down again and he was still trying to use the courts to keep the two sides of the family apart. 'But the metaphorical white flag has been raised — there is peace.' Angry backlash Details of the bust-up first emerged earlier this year when TV host Jeff began bizarre court proceedings in a bid to block troubled Freddy, 20, from making contact with his grandmother — insisting her frequent cannabis use was a dangerous influence. Advertisement It sparked an angry backlash from the aspiring model, who raged that nothing would stop him from seeing his beloved 'Nanna' — and they were later photographed smoking what appeared to be a cannabis joint together near her Bermondsey home. Days later, Freddy revealed on Instagram he was preparing to check into a Marbella rehab facility in a bid to 'get clean', before making a swift U-turn and claiming: 'I just need a holiday.' He has also launched a series of furious tirades at his father behind the scenes — even accusing Jeff of spying on him and having him trailed by paparazzi to keep an eye on his behaviour — something the TV host fervently denies. Another incident saw his father turn up unannounced at a London hairdressers to confront him about spending time with Jackiey. It is understood Jeff has now parked his plans to pursue legal action, recognising that the expensive legal filings and potential court bid would do little to dissuade his son from contacting Jackiey. But he has also enjoyed a growing relationship with his dad in recent years, including appearing together on TV hit Celebrity Race Across The World, where their quirky but likeable double act proved popular with viewers. Devoted Jackiey has insisted that she has only ever been a loving and supportive grandmother to both of her daughter's children — and said she could never understand Jeff's efforts to divide them. Advertisement She added: 'All these years, I've been the closest thing to their mum.' Meanwhile, Freddy has opened up a new battle after splitting from his girlfriend, Holly Swinburn, following a furious row between the pair, who are now accusing one another of wrong-doing in a dispute, with each threatening to escalate the row by involving the police. In June, Freddy was spotted on a date with influencer Natasha Newcombe. Jade, who shot to fame in Big Brother in 2002, passed away in 2009 aged just 27 after a harrowing battle with cervical cancer. The run-up to her death, broadcast and documented in painful detail, gripped the nation and brought a surge in cancer screenings dubbed the 'Jade Goody effect'. Advertisement Before she passed away, she begged Jeff to take care of her two sons, then aged just five and four. He has always insisted he tried to do the right thing by them, often in private, steering them away from the spotlight in their early years. But the tension between him and Jackiey — Jade's eccentric and outspoken mum — has simmered ever since. Jackiey, a former drug addict who raised Jade alone, was known for her brash style and fiery public appearances, including a famously awkward stint on Celebrity Big Brother alongside Jade in 2007. Storm has calmed She claims she has been unfairly sidelined over the years and struggled to maintain a consistent presence in her grandsons' lives due to her feud with their father. Advertisement Freddy's older brother Bobby, now 21, has taken a different path, enjoying a rise from quiet teenager to Strictly finalist and EastEnders heart-throb. He has largely kept his distance from the drama and maintained a diplomatic relationship with both sides of the family, having instead devoted his time to the Hare Krishna movement after becoming involved with the religion in recent years. He was seen this week wearing the group's trademark orange outfit in central London as he took part in one of their rituals. Insiders say Bobby has acted as a 'peacekeeper' during the row, urging his dad and gran to let Freddy make his own choices — and speaking regularly to each of his relatives. A friend said: 'Bobby's had a lot on his plate with work but he is close to Freddy and just wants everyone to get on for his sake. He misses Jade every day and knows that she wouldn't want this fighting.' The boys remain at the heart of their late mother's legacy, and will soon be the beneficiaries of a trust fund left to them, with instructions that it could not be accessed until they reached their mid-twenties — except for education and healthcare. As one insider adds: 'They're growing up fast and have so many opportunities. Advertisement 'And soon they will get the money Jade left for them too, which should give them the strong start in their adult life she always wanted for them. 'Hopefully the peace holds, but when it comes to Jackiey and Jeff, the next fallout could easily be just around the corner.'
