COLOGNE, GERMANY - NOVEMBER 07: Baron Corbin competes in the ring against Braun Strowman during the WWE Live Show at Lanxess Arena on November 7, 2018 in Cologne, Germany.According to a report from Bill Apter from WrestleBinge, Strowman was released because the company's view of him changed, and the amount he was being paid didn't match the role they wanted him to play.

"I think that this time around, they never envisioned him as a full-time, long storyline player," Apter said.
"I don't want to use the term filler, but just a good hand to have around to get the excitement going and maybe put some guys over, which he did. But nothing that they were planning on for a long period, and I don't know if he actually wanted to be part of this for long periods of time."
Strowman has more than done his duty putting guys over. He had an incredible feud with Bronson Reed and also served as the perfect opponent to elevate current United States Champion Jacob Fatu.
Both of these Superstars are now seen as future main eventers in the company, proving Strowman's ability to make opponents seem bigger than ever.
Apter then stated that Strowman could return for brief stints to fill those types of roles again.
"I heard that it was not an angry break, and if they call him six months or a year down the road, 'We need you for three or four months,' he'd be willing to do it again," Apter said.

Strowman first signed with WWE in 2013 and debuted as a member of The Wyatt Family in 2015. Since then, he has consistently been one of the most exciting, athletic, and explosive big men in the history of the company.
During his time with WWE, Strowman took home the WWE Universal Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, and the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship twice.
Strowman also won Money in the Bank in 2018, the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal in 2019, and the Greatest Royal Rumble in 2018.

Just one day after announcing he was cancer-free, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has revealed he is dealing with another significant health issue. In a new social media post, "The Nature Boy" shared a graphic photo of a severe cut on his forehead. Flair explained that this new injury was the reason he was forced to miss a scheduled appearance at the ATL Comic Convention this past weekend. Ric Flair Reveals Nasty Forehead Injury In a post on his X account on Wednesday, Flair showed a photo of a large, stitched-up gash above his left eye. Flair is arguably the most famous practitioner of "blading," an old-school wrestling practice where performers would intentionally cut their foreheads to create blood and add drama to a match. This latest injury is another chapter in a life defined by incredible resilience. WWE Reportedly Interested In Former AEW Star
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. WWE is reportedly looking to add to its referee lineup and has shown interest in a surprising name for the role: former AEW wrestler Leyla Hirsch. According to a new report, the company has contacted the free agent about a potential tryout. Hirsch has been active on the independent circuit since her departure from All Elite Wrestling in February of this year. This new opportunity would present an unexpected path back to a major promotion. A Surprising Opportunity A new report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select states that WWE has reached out to Leyla Hirsch about a potential tryout with the company, specifically for a referee position. The communication reportedly took place in mid-June, though it is not yet known if Hirsch accepted the offer or if a tryout has already happened. "Sources within WWE tell Fightful that they reached out to Leyla Hirch about a potential tryout with the company as a referee," the report stated. "Legit" Leyla Hirsch: A True Competitor The news is surprising given Hirsch's background as a legitimate and accomplished in-ring competitor. Born in Moscow, she has a background in amateur wrestling. This credential, combined with her powerful, suplex-based offense, earned her the nickname "Legit" Leyla Hirsch. She was a promising, rising star in the AEW women's division before suffering a major ACL tear in 2022. While she eventually returned to the ring, she was never able to regain her previous momentum, which led to her departure from the company earlier this year. Hirsch's legitimate background and tough in-ring style make her an unusual candidate for a referee role. WWE/Getty Images More news: WWE Superstar Announces Retirement Match A "Foot In The Door" To WWE The Fightful report notes that taking a referee position could simply be a "foot in the door" for Hirsch to get into the WWE system. It is a path that other performers have taken in the past. Historically, "Dangerous" Danny Davis was a referee before becoming a notorious heel wrestler in the 1980s. More recently, WWE referee Jessika Carr, the first full-time female referee on the main roster, has begun competing as an in-ring talent on the WWE Evolve brand. For an independent talent, any role within the WWE system provides access to the Performance Center and its world-class coaches. This can often lead to other opportunities down the line. While fans may be surprised to see the "Legit" one in stripes, it could be a savvy career move for the talented free agent. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.
