Bentley EXP 15 Concept Signals the Brand's Grand Electric Future

Car and Driver7 hours ago
The Bentley EXP 15 concept hints at the brand's future design direction, with some cues set to appear on its first EV next year.
The front end wears a glowing grille and vertical LED headlights, while the body sports a fastback roofline and a raised stance.
The large glass dashboard serves as a screen but can reveal wood trim behind; intricate gold-knurled controls appear on the center console and steering wheel.
With more than a century under its belt, Bentley is steeped in heritage, and its stately designs carry a noble "old money" aura. But Bentley is looking towards the future with the EXP 15 concept, represented by a full-size exterior model and an interior design created using virtual reality. The electric EXP 15 signals the direction Bentley will take with its forthcoming first EV. It also shows that, although some details may transform as Bentley electrifies, its styling will remain as grand and lavish as ever.

The EXP 15 has an unusual shape that doesn't really conform to a traditional body style. It has a raised stance that hints at SUV styling but a sloping fastback roofline. That silhouette draws inspiration from the 1930 Bentley Speed Six Gurney Nutting Sportsman coupe. The EXP 15's surfacing is clean, with a sharp crease running from the headlight into the base of the side windows and pronounced rear haunches. Since the EXP 15 is electric, it has a relatively short hood for a distinguished luxury car. From the rear-three-quarter view, the EXP 15 looks like a chunkier take on the Jaguar Type 00 concept from last year.
The front end is appropriately upright for a Bentley and is dominated by an illuminated hexagonal grille. The grille is comprised of an array of triangular elements that mimic the chrome crosshairs of a classic Bentley grille, bisected by a central spine. Bentley's redesigned badge is inset atop the grille, sitting below the classic Flying B hood ornament. Although EVs don't require such large grilles for cooling, Bentley sees it as a chance to "create a piece of digital art."

The grille is framed by vertical LED headlights that give it a somewhat robotic stare, which are echoed by an illuminated vertical trim piece at the leading edge of the doors. This appendage also houses a vent to channel air along the side of the car. The thin taillights wrap around a body-colored panel holding the Bentley badge, and the EXP 15 features two active roof-top spoilers and an active rear diffuser.
A Decadent Cabin
Just like the Hyundai Veloster, the EXP 15 sports an asymmetrical door setup, with one on the driver's side and two on the passenger's side. Inside, there are only three seats, with the driver sitting alone up front and the left-side rear passenger getting plenty of room to stretch their legs. Bentley also envisions that the extra space can be used for pet carriers or hand luggage. The passenger-side rear seat can rotate 45 degrees to aid ingress and egress and can move forward and back.

The EXP 15 features a "wing-shaped" dashboard, with trim pieces that flow upwards from the center console, one enveloping the steering wheel and the other housing a series of gauges in front of the passenger's seat. The glass that composes the rest of the dashboard can display a digital interface or be turned off, uncloaking wood veneer trim behind the glass. There's also a large physical dial of sorts behind the center screen, which Bentley calls the "Mechanical Marvel" and resembles an old radial plane engine. The movable and lit-up glass elements that surround a Bentley emblem can be used to show information such as the direction of travel or state of charge.
The cabin uses a mix of rich-looking materials, with a wool textile paired with 3-D-printed titanium trim. The switchgear on the steering wheel and center console has an exquisite gold-knurled finish, and there are backlit panels on the doors and around the rear seats that repeat the grille motif.

The trunk, meanwhile, can double as a fancy picnic setup. Two small cushions form seats, a fridge keeps the champagne chilled, and a glowing glass lamp adds ambiance. Another cool trick on the EXP 15 is its Pallas Gold paint, which uses a new ultra-thin aluminum pigment that allows radar sensors to transmit through it without affecting the signal quality. This lets Bentley hide safety devices that can sometimes be an eyesore, such as on the current Continental GT's grille.
Bentley says the EXP 15 isn't intended for production, but the brand did say that the concept previews its future design direction. Specifically, elements of its exterior styling could be seen on Bentley's first EV, which will likely be unveiled next year, although that model is expected to take a more traditional small-SUV form.

Zenvo's Quad-Turbo Supercar Is Nearly Here. This Is What It'll Look Like

It's been nearly two years since Zenvo revealed the Aurora , a V-12-powered hybrid hypercar. The Danish automaker showcased two variants, the road-going Tur and the track-focused Agil, and has since then been fine-tuning the design. Ahead of the car's dynamic debut later this week, the company has revealed the Tur's final exterior shape. Zenvo doesn't mention what's changed, and to be honest, it looks almost identical to the original with a passing glance, but a closer inspection reveals a few tweaks. It has new rear-end styling, with a much more aggressive diffuser and a relocated license plate bracket. It also appears the rear deck is longer than before, housing a reshaped tailpipe and thicker taillights. Photo by: Zenvo Up front, the changes are even more subtle. The front openings now have mesh coverings, there's a bit more sheet metal underneath the daytime running lights, and the hood has been reshaped. While Zenvo is pitching the Aurora Tur as the road-going version, it's also the most potent of the two, even with both using the same quad-turbocharged 6.6-liter V12 engine . The Tur has three electric motors instead of one, upping the powertrain's output to 1,850 horsepower and 1,254 pound-feet of torque. Zenvo claims the car will hit 62 miles per hour in 2.3 seconds and reach a 280-mph top speed. The car will make a public appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this week. When Zenvo announced the car, it said production would not begin until 2026, and it appears the company is on schedule to meet that timeline. Just a few weeks ago, the company announced it would tap Alcon Components to provide the hypercar's braking system. In April, Zenvo showcased the first example of its V-12 engine built by Mahle. 2026 Aston Martin Vantage S Revealed: More Power, But Softer Suspension

When new CEO Adrian Hallmark joined Aston Martin, he said he'd be pushing the brand to come out with more model variants. That brief led to the DBX S, and now this, the Vantage S, a hotter version of Aston's entry-level sports car, arriving about 18 months after the standard version. The headline is more oomph from its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8, 671 horsepower and 590 pound-feet, plus lots of detail changes throughout. Aston Martin says the Vantage S benefits from much calibration work. There are lots of suspension tweaks, with revisions to both the damper hardware and software for a bit more grip at the front and a softer rear. The rear subframe is now rigidly mounted to the body, but the mounts for the rear transaxle are 10% softer. Aston also tweaked camber, caster, and toe settings to compensate. The sum, the automaker says, is a car with more agility and steering feel, better low-speed ride, and more straight-line stability. Photo by: Aston Martin In standard form, the Vantage is an outrageously fast car. Aston Martin claimed 656 hp, but if you told this author the power figure actually started with a 7, he'd believe you. Naturally, Aston's increased the output from its AMG-built V-8, and claims a 0.1-second reduction in 0-60 MPH time, now down to 3.3 seconds. The company also tweaked the throttle mapping for better "feel and precision." There are a number of aerodynamic tweaks, most prominently a larger spoiler on the trunk lid. Aston Martin says the Vantage S develops 245 pounds of downforce at its 202-mph top speed. Other than the spoiler, there aren't a ton of major exterior changes to the Vantage S. Really, the only clue is the red "S" badge on the fenders and the blades in the hood vents. There's also a unique 21-inch forged wheel option, which features red accents. Photo by: Aston Martin Inside, there's all sorts of "S" stuff, standard carbon-fiber and Alcantara trim, "S" badges on the seats, and an optional package that brings with it more red accents. This being an Aston Martin, the interior is totally customizable, so you can choose how much you want to let your passengers know you got the special version. Aston Martin hasn't announced pricing yet, but you can presume it'll be a decent bit more money than the around $200,000 MSRP for the regular Vantage coupe. It's only showing the coupe for now, but the Vantage S is available in Roadster form. If you want one, you can order it now, and Aston is aiming for first deliveries in the last quarter of 2025.
