10 best sunglasses for women, recommended by a stylist

Independent19-06-2025

With sunny summer days ahead of us, now's the time to update your sunglasses collection. This year's trending styles come in the form of fun eyewear with statement details and twists on classic designs.
While the best sunglasses for you will depend on your taste, you may also want to consider which styles are most likely to suit your face shape. If you have more of a triangular face, consider 'enhancing your features with round or square oversized frames', says Daphnée Duchatel from French eyewear brand Jimmy Fairly.
If your face is rounder, 'a thinner cat-eye frame is preferred. With the 1990s skinny sunglasses trend resurfacing, this style breaks up the roundness of your features by elongating and softening the face', adds Duchatel.
Finally, 'oval sunglasses are ideal for square face shapes, as they help soften and balance angular features'.
With all this in mind, keep scrolling for my pick of the best sunglasses from high street favourites, designer brands and lesser-known labels.
How we tested
I tested several pairs of sunglasses on sunny days. Looking for on-trend styles and classic designs that will stand the test of time, I considered how much protection each pair offers, how good they look, whether they feel comfy on the nose and behind the ears, and if they are likely to slip during sweaty heatwaves.

Jurgen Klopp hints he may NEVER return to management as former Liverpool boss admits ‘I no longer had a normal life'

JURGEN KLOPP has suggested his managerial career might be over after admitting he doesn't want that life "anymore". The German coach quit Liverpool at the end of last season after nine years in charge of the Anfield outfit. 2 2 Having now had more than a year to reflect on his career options, Klopp, 58, candidly revealed he believes his time in the dugout could be over. Speaking to German outlet, Welt, the former Borussia Dortmund boss admitted life as a football coach took him "too far away from a normal life". He recalled how he lost 16 kilos between his time leaving Borussia Dortmund and joining Liverpool, thanks to being on top of his diet and exercising - something he couldn't do when mulling over tactics. Klopp said: "I was in a tunnel, but never with myself. Now I pay more attention to myself. "As silly as it sounds, I stopped doing what I always wanted to do. "But it took me too far away from normal life – and ultimately, I no longer had a normal life. "Whatever normal life is: my car knew three ways: to the stadium, to the training ground, and home." Klopp explained how while he had plenty of visitors in Liverpool, he barely had any time for them - referencing how he had been to two weddings in the last four months as opposed to none in 23 years before that. Following his Liverpool exit, Klopp has found new roles as Red Bull's Head of Global Soccer and in the latest Hotel: Trivago, advertisements. But the Premier League and Champions League winner hasn't been short of top clubs wanting to add him to their ranks, with Bayern Munich inquiring over his availability. Arne Slot shows his class as he leads Anfield in chant about Jurgen Klopp after sealing 20th title for Liverpool However, despite chats with Jose Mourinho and Roy Hodgson about coaching, his gut feeling is that while he loved his job, he doesn't miss it. Asked about his links to Bayern, Klopp said: "But I don't want that anymore. I have a job now that fulfills me and is also intense. "I don't sleep in the morning and I don't go to bed later at night, but I can organise my work much better. "My wife, for example, is really happy with it because we can plan things much better that we couldn't before... "Of course I enjoyed it too. Some days I couldn't believe my luck. Just look where I came from - and then I made it to Liverpool FC, and it worked out pretty well there. "If I were to go back to coaching somewhere, it would all start again. I'm me! I can't just take over and coach. "Then I'd be completely involved everywhere again. And I just don't see that happening anymore." On his chats with Hodgson and Mourinho, he continued: "He (Hodgson) came up to me and asked how I was. In the same breath he said to me: 'I miss it.' "And I was like: 'What?' Roy is 77 years old - and he wants to be a coach again. Unbelievable! "When we played against Crystal Palace with Liverpool, I always asked him whether his apartment was damp or why he was standing on the pitch now. "But Jose Mourinho also said to me: 'This is not the end.' There are those coaches who always want to do that. I loved being a coach, but I was never addicted." Klopp also ruled himself out of taking a job at one of the Red Bull teams. By Dave Kidd NOW we know Jurgen Klopp's final major trophy haul at Liverpool — one Champions League, one Premier League, one FA Cup, two League Cups and (if you must) a World Club Cup. But where does his reign stand among the greatest of the Premier League era? In black-and-white terms, Klopp is way behind Sir Alex Ferguson and Pep Guardiola, the only two men to have won multiple Premier Leagues and a Champions League at the same club. Those two sit alongside Brian Clough, Bob Paisley and Sir Matt Busby as the undoubted all-time managerial greats of the English game. But Klopp ranks in the next tier down — with Arsene Wenger, Jose Mourinho (the Chelsea version), Bill Shankly and Don Revie. These were all men with the strength of character to transform their clubs in their own image and enjoy success but who did not win as much as they might have done. Had Klopp managed to keep his intentions under wraps and ended up with another title, perhaps even a treble or quadruple, he'd have edged himself up into that highest echelon with Ferguson, Guardiola, Clough, Paisley and Busby. But deciding the timing and the manner of your exit is one of the toughest calls for any manager or sportsman. Klopp got it wrong. Or click here to check out all of Dave Kidd's articles.

Influencer mum-of-4 slammed for 'embarrassing' style choices aged 37 insists she won't stop wearing beloved belly tops

AN INFLUENCER mum who's regularly trolled over her wardrobe choices has insisted she won't stop wearing her beloved belly tops. Anna Saccone Joly regularly shares videos and pictures of herself and her family - husband Jonathan and their four kids - on her social media pages. 2 2 But she's found herself targeted over her wardrobe, which has included a tonne of crop tops since she had a "mummy makeover", including a tummy tuck, in August 2023. Lots of people in the comments on Anna's videos have insisted she's too old, at 37, to be wearing the stomach-baring ensembles. "The belly tops are embarrassing at nearly 40," one person insisted. "Give your children's clothes back to them!" another added. "If you don't like others comments & opinions…" a third commented. "Stop flaunting it over social media then - go be a mother to your kids instead of trying to be one of them!!!" However, YouTuber and influencer Anna hit back at the comments as she lip-synced along to Billy Joel's My Life, pretending to sing: "I don't care what you say anymore this is my life. "Go ahead with your own life, leave me alone!" "I guess I didn't realise we were meant to dress like old maids in our late 30s," she added in the caption. And others agreed with her in the comments section of the TikTok, encouraging Anna to wear exactly what she wants. Woman Undergoes 5 Life-Changing Surgeries "You can never be too old to wear a belly top," one wrote in the comments. "Agree!" Anna replied. "So pretty and even with surgery you should be able to show off you new look," another added. "I would wear one in winter if I was you!" a third said. "We spend our entire young lives being judged for what we wear and look like," someone else commented. "Getting to a point where you are comfortable and confident in a style that works for you is the goal. How to blast belly fat WITHOUT going to the gym or dieting Chew your food This mindfulness trick is used to focus your brain on the food you are eating - how it tastes and feels - rather than scoffing it in a hurry. If the brain does not register that you have eaten, you'll soon crave more food. Avocado a day Eating avocado every day can fight visceral fat in women, which collects around the organs in the stomach and can lead to diabetes, heart attack, and some cancers, according to a University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign study of 105 people. Avoid fizzy drinks Losing belly 'fat' may just be a case of preventing bloating, which can be onset by fizzy soft drinks. Instead, keep hydrated with water. Reduce alcohol Alcohol does no favours at all for our health or figures. It is 'empty calories', meaning it contributes to your calorie intake without giving any nutritional benefit. Hangovers can also lead you to eat more fatty foods, while putting you off exercising. Sleep more Various studies have shown that if you're not sleeping well, it can cause weight gain. People are more likely to crave junk food when they are sleep deprived because, not only are they in need of an energy boost, but their appetite hormones are all over the place. Reduce stress Stress causes an imbalance of hormones, particularly cortisol. This hormone has been linked with obesity and excess belly fat. Find ways to reduce your stress to avoid the so-called 'stress belly'. "I recently lost some weight and now wear tops similar to this. "I'm 37 and have spent literally DECADES hating my body - I freaking earned the right to wear whatever the hell I want." "You look great, it's flattering on you," another said. "Clothing doesn't have specific ages. Not sure why anyone cares lol!" "I'm 36 and wear whatever I like!" someone else wrote. "I WILL NOT LIVE MY LIFE IN THE OPINION OF OTHERS!! All the haters are just JEALOUS!!! PERIOD." "If I looked as good as you, I'd be rocking that outfit everyday," another commented. "You do you hun!"

Katie Price's boyfriend JJ Slater 'unfollows' Conor McGregor after her wild time partying with the UFC star in Ibiza

Katie Price 's boyfriend JJ Slater has reportedly hit the unfollow button on Conor McGregor after she attended a raucous party with the UFC star in Ibiza. The 47-year-old was seen nearly spilling out of her tiny bikini as she had a wild time partying with the 36-year-old sports star at the famous Ocean Beach Club. Conor later shared a snap with Katie from the event on Instagram, captioning it: 'Katie Price Forever.' But it seems the snaps didn't sit well with JJ, 31, who wasted no time in unfollowing Conor on Instagram, according to The Sun. A source told the publication that JJ had been following Conor on social media for around half a year after Katie introduced them at his pub in Ireland. They explained: 'Katie was already following Conor on socials, and after that he followed her back and JJ also started following Conor. 'Now, after Katie was snapped partying with Conor in Ibiza, JJ has unfollowed Conor. 'He didn't like seeing the pictures of them having a whale of a time on the party island, he thought it looked disrespectful.' MailOnline has contacted JJ's representatives for comment. JJ, who found fame on Married At First Sight UK, has been dating Katie since earlier this year. Katie sparked further health fears from fans as she cuddled up to Conor with her tiny frame on display. She was all smiles with her pearly-white teeth as she showed off her slender arms and waist as well as razor-sharp jawline. Katie, also known as Jordan, boasted a bronze complexion as she danced beside Irish mixed martial artist Conor, 36. Conor went shirtless for the booze-filled party, wearing just a pair of red shorts and a white hat with his heavily tattooed chest on display. Since arriving in O Beach in Ibiza, Katie has caught up with famous pals including Wayne Lineker, Dean Gaffney and Jamie O'Hara. The mum-of-five previously addressed her shrinking figure back in May on Snapchat to worried fans. She said: 'Yes I've lost weight. Yes that what I've wanted to do, I've wanted to lose weight. 'Because the past three, four years ago when I broke my feet and I was in a wheelchair for 10 months because they said I'd never walk again, and obviously you put weight on being in a wheelchair. 'And then I did all the IVF stuff, that also puts on weight. So yeah I did put on weight and I hated it, I felt uncomfortable and it wasn't me.' Last month, Katie branded herself 'ugly and disgusting' as she watched back video footage of herself undergoing plastic surgery in Turkey. In January, the mother-of-five flew abroad for 'tweaks' to her sixth £10,000 face lift and documented the trip for a new YouTube video. Speaking on The Louis Theroux Podcast last year, Katie explained that she has never been happy with her body. She said: 'I always said I haven't got body dysmorphia but there's definitely something, I don't know what it is... 'I've never looked in the mirror and thought I'm pretty or whatever.' However, despite having had at least six face lifts, Katie insists that she is not scared of aging.
