Fletcher Place Community Center's All-Star makeover

Fletcher Place Community Center is celebrating the arrival of summer with much-needed facility upgrades and a new mural from a local artist. Why it matters: Improvements made to the east side gathering spot represent one of four "legacy projects" Hoosier nonprofits are rolling out this year with the support of $1 million in grant funding from the WNBA All-Star 2025 Host Committee. Driving the news: FPCC and community leaders unveiled their All-Star facelift last week. Updates include kitchen improvements, upgrading the REACH Early Learning playground and toddler play space, a new greenhouse and enhancing the community garden. They also shared a mural by Boxx the Artist, a 2024 Art & Soul headliner who has installed more than 10 murals in Indy. What they're saying: Titled " Rooted Together," the goal of the mural was to honor the history of FPCC and its values of hope, compassion and renewal. The Rotary Club of Indianapolis and an anonymous donor also provided funding for the artwork. "To be able to help Fletcher Place ... complete their legacy project, which is going to help children and families for decades to come, is exactly why we wanted to host the WNBA All-Star Game," Mel Raines, CEO of Pacers Sports & Entertainment, said at a recent ribbon cutting. What's next: Three other projects that received funding from the host committee are still underway.

Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed explains recent Instagram post discussing lofty 2025 goals

Texas A&M's 2025 season won't just hinge on starting quarterback Marcel Reed's performance. Still, the redshirt sophomore must improve as a pocket passer for the Aggie offense to reach its full potential under OC Collin Klein. Still, the Tennessee native deserves grace after being thrown in the fire as the starter last season amid Conner Weigman's injury issues. With Weigman now at Houston, it has been Reed's job since the start of the offseason. From what we've seen and heard over the past six months, Marcel has put in the reps with various QB coaches to improve his release, accuracy, and touch before entering fall camp. After the Maroon & White spring game, the lack of blocking up front due to the O-line holdouts did not provide Reed a fair shot. Still, he did connect on several solid passes to new wide receivers KC Concepcion and Mario Craver and looked much more confident in the pocket. Reed does not need to play at an "elite" level for the Aggies to reach their goals due to the depth at running back and veteran offensive line, but that won't stop the former four-star prospect from chasing after his lofty goals. After signing an NIL deal with ENG Aviation, a private jet company dedicated to transporting life-saving organ transplants, Reed caught up with Texas-based journalist Chancellor Johnson, who asked the Aggie signal caller about his recent Instagram post where he posted a photo of himself in his jersey with the description "C-stat (arrow), New York (arrow), Miami," which may have not been obious to all who read it. 'C-Stat (A&M), New York (Heisman), Miami (CFB championship) y'all check the locations, I put them there for a reason." Most quarterbacks at the Power Four level have Heisman and National Championship hopes, which is what makes every game competitive, and why we all love college football. Reed isn't the last QB to speak in this similar vein, and who knows? Perhaps the upgraded wide receiver room, increased running back depth, and a full offseason as the starter will propel Marcel Reed into elite territory in 2025. Texas A&M's priority 2026 WR prospect predicted to land with USC

This Friday, Texas A&M Mike Elko and his staff won't just be celebrating Independence Day knowing that two of the program's priority 2026 prospects will announce their commitments back-to-back, as four-star wide receiver Ethan "Boobie" Feaster and four-star linebacker Tank King have been slight favorites to land with the Aggies since late last month. However, USC, which currently owns the No. 1-ranked 2026 class has been working hard on Feaster, and after fipping former five-star Texas A&M commit Husan Longstreet in the 2025 signing class, landing one of the top wide receiver prospects with a ton of untapped potential should help Longstreet's potentially elite career with the Trojans. While the Aggies were the clear favorites for Feaster, things have reportedly changed this week, leading to Wednesday's news that Rivals insiders Steve Wiltfong and Sam Spiegelman have logged their expert predictions for USC to land the standout receiver over Texas A&M. This is not a huge surprise given Texas A&M's three 2026 wide receiver commits, led by four-star Aaron Gregory, who looks like the best wideout in the cycle. If USC lands Feaster, Texas A&M is not out of the running, as no commitment is set in stone until Early Signing Day on December 4, unless the player shuts down his recruitment, as many of A&M's 2026 commits have done this summer. Feaster finished his junior season with a personal-best 57 receptions, 855 yards, and 14 touchdowns. Through two varsity seasons, the DeSoto product has 1,489 yards and 23 touchdowns. According to On3, Feaster is the 44th-ranked overall prospect and the fifth-ranked wide receiver in the 2026 class. He is the fifth-ranked prospect in Texas.
