As part of early leaks, the iPhone 17 Pro was rumoured to come with an anti-reflective display coating, replacing Apple's popular Ceramic Shield for enhanced scratch resistance and reduced glare. However, this upgrade may not come in this year's iPhone Pro model, therefore, Apple may stick to the Ceramic Shield or fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating as the current iPhone models. While other tech giants, including Samsung, are providing anti-reflective coating, Apple is yet to bring such upgrades to its iPhones. In early leaks, a tipster who goes by the name Instant Digital highlighted Apple's plan for bringing an anti-reflective display coating for iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. This new display technology was supposed to be used to make smartphones more scratch-resistant, and first for iPhones as well. These anti-reflective coatings are also available in the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy S25 Ultra models, which not only make visuals pleasing by reducing reflection but also make the smartphone more scratch-resistant.

Now, according to a Macrumor report, Apple has dropped plans of bringing anti-reflective display coating to iPhone 17 Pro models. Reportedly, the process for applying the anti-reflective coating on iPhones was quite slow, considering Apple makes millions of units that are sent across the world. Therefore, it was not possible to integrate the technology this year, despite its benefits.

Samsung has confirmed that it will hold its next Galaxy Unpacked event on 8 July. While the company hasn't officially revealed the devices it will launch, it is all but certain to unveil the new Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold lineup. Apart from the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7, Samsung is also reported to be launching the Galaxy Z Flip FE and the Galaxy Watch 8 series at the event. A new Galaxy Buds lineup could also make its debut, along with potential hints about Samsung's latest One UI 8 update. Madhav Sheth-led smartphone brand AI+ will launch its first set of devices on 8 July. The first two models from the company, called Pulse and Nova 5G, will also be available on Flipkart and Shopsy. According to a dedicated Flipkart microsite for the Nova 5G, the phone will feature a 50MP primary camera and come in five colour variants. It will pack a 5,000mAh battery and support up to 1TB of expandable storage via microSD card. Tecno Pova 7 will debut in India on 4 July. The new phone will feature customisable lights around the camera module, which Tecno calls the Delta Light interface. If it follows its global counterpart, it could be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate processor, feature a 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, and come with a 6,000mAh battery and 70W wired fast charging. Honor has confirmed it will soon launch a new smartphone in India, the Honor X9c, which will be an Amazon exclusive. While there is no confirmed launch date yet, the phone is likely to debut in July. The Honor X9c is expected to feature a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 4,000 nits of peak brightness. It is likely to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage.

Samsung's next Galaxy Unpacked event is set for 9 July, and the company is expected to unveil its latest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. A new leak has revealed alleged specifications for both devices, pointing to slimmer designs and upgraded displays. According to details shared by tipster Setsuna Digital via Weibo, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could feature an 8-inch internal display paired with a 6.5-inch external screen. The device is expected to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset. Design-wise, it may incorporate an aluminium frame and a glass ceramic back panel. It is tipped to measure 8.9mm in thickness when folded and just 4.2mm when open, weighing around 215 grams. This would make it significantly thinner and lighter than its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which comes in at 12.1mm folded and 239g. The Fold 7 is also said to include a 10MP selfie camera with a 100-degree field of view. Moreover, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is also expected to receive several upgrades. It may come with a 4.1-inch cover display and a 6.9-inch internal screen, both offering a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 2,600 nits peak brightness. This could mark a notable step up from the Galaxy Z Flip 6, which features a 3.4-inch outer screen and 6.7-inch main display. Battery capacity could also see an improvement, with the Z Flip 7 rumoured to house a 4,300mAh unit, up from the 4,000mAh battery found in the previous generation. The new model is tipped to measure 13.7mm when closed and 6.5mm when open, and weigh 188g, offering a sleeker profile than its predecessor. Apple set to launch cheaper MacBook with iPhone 16 Pro's chip in 2026: Report
Apple is looking to accelerate sales of its MacBook lineup as it plans to bring a new affordable model to boost its numbers, according to a post by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. As per Kuo, Apple's new affordable MacBook is expected to enter mass production in late Q4 2025 or early Q1 2026. The upcoming laptop could feature a 13-inch display and is likely to be powered by the company's A18 Pro processor, which debuted in the iPhone 18 Pro series launched last year. The affordable MacBook could come in four colour variants: Silver, Blue, Pink, and Yellow. The Cupertino-based tech giant wants to return MacBook shipments to the COVID-19 peak of around 25 million units in 2026, compared to the 20 million units it is expected to ship in 2025. The new affordable MacBook, Kuo predicts, could account for 5-7 million units in 2026. Notably, if Kuo's prediction turns out to be true, the processor could be the only point of difference between the new affordable MacBook and the entry-level MacBook Air, which starts at $999 ( ₹ 99,900 in India). Unfortunately, the analyst does not give any indication of how much cheaper the new Apple offering could be compared to the current laptop range. Assuming the leak turns out to be accurate, we should have plenty of updates in the coming months regarding the pricing and other features of the new affordable MacBook. In a separate post, Kuo also noted that Apple is working on seven head-mounted devices, many of which are set to launch in 2027. The company is reportedly banking heavily on this category and has a significant competitive advantage thanks to robust hardware and ecosystem integration. However, the challenge for the tech giant will be developing an AI-powered operating system and software. One of the key devices that Apple is working on is a Meta Ray-Ban like smart glasses. These glasses are one of the major focus for company with expected shipments of around 3-5 million in 2027.
