The installation of these cameras has been strategically distributed across various key areas of the city.
For instance, 100 cameras have been placed in Satpur, Ambad, and Indiranagar areas. Sarkarwada now has 32 cameras, while Chunchale is covered by 52 cameras. As many as 156 cameras have been deployed across Nashik Road, Upnagar, Deolali Camp, Panchavati, and Adgaon areas.
Currently, another 84 cameras are in the process of being installed in the Bhadrakali area, further expanding the reach of the surveillance network.
This comprehensive surveillance will expand even more with the help of the Smart City project. As part of this initiative, 1,300 additional CCTV cameras have already been installed at 350 different locations. These cameras are soon expected to become fully functional, integrating with the police's existing and planned network.
The combined effort will provide extensive and robust security coverage across the entire city of Nashik, enhancing public safety significantly.
A police officer, while talking to TOI, said, "With the exception of cameras in the Bhadrakali area, where plans are afoot for live transmission to the Bhadrakali police station, other cameras will be standalone with the capacity to store the footage for about a month.
"
The officer added, "Thus, the police can check the footage of the cameras as and when required. While investigating a crime, the police generally take help of CCTV cameras to check from where the criminals may have arrived and in which direction they left after committing a crime."

The city police are getting the cameras installed from various companies using their Corporation Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. Scam victim turns whistleblower: Hyderabad MBA graduate ends influencers' 'betting' innings; helps cops bust racket after losing Rs 50 lakh, friend to suicide

Hyderabad MBA graduate exposed an online cricket betting scam after losing a significant amount of money and his friend to suicide HYDERABAD: After losing over Rs 50 lakh and a close friend, an MBA graduate from Hyderabad has turned whistleblower helping cops' crackdown on online cricket betting. In June, the Cyberabad police filed two FIRs and arrested five online influencers for allegedly luring thousands of Telugu youth to sites promoting this illegal trade. The FIRs were lodged based on a month-long investigation carried out by the 27-year-old who recently returned to the city from Italy. He has two master's degrees — in management and IT — and decided to take on the fraudsters after he himself fell prey to the menace. His friend, who lost Rs 60 lakh to betting, died by suicide. 'I clicked the link and joined the Telegram channel 'The Mars Toss,' he said. There he found one of the accused, Pottavathini Deepak, offering cricket match outcomes and encouraging members to place bets through offshore websites recommended by him. 'Unable to not cope with the losses, manipulation, and lies from influencers, my friend died by suicide at his residence in Bhopal in Dec 2024,' the whistleblower said. Shaken, the Hyderabad youth started investigating the influencers' activities. He joined their Tele g ram channels and identified patterns. 'All of them are deceitful. They convince victims that they have access to cricket teams and can fix tosses and matches,' the whistleblower told TOI. He added: 'Occasionally, some predictions come true leading them to create reels boasting their fabricated successes. They work for various betting sites, receiving fixed monthly payments up to Rs 10 lakh depending on their social media and Telegram channel followers. They actively promote betting websites.' Posing as a representative of betting sites, he contacted influencers and obtained their personal details. With this evidence, he approached Miyapur inspector K Kranthi Kumar in June who directed him to cybercrime police. 'All I want is to prevent more people from falling victim to deceit. They are knowingly cheating lakhs of Telugu youth. I am grateful to Cyberabad police for acting swiftly and arresting some of the fraudsters,' the young man told TOI. 'He played a proactive role in identifying the accused and bringing their details to our notice,' said a senior police official. A few initial bets were successful, so I continued and started investing more and more money. By May 2025, when I placed the last bets, I had lost over lakh

'Fake narrative': Professor guided Pune woman on filing false rape complaint, says city top cop; medical report inconclusive

Pune's police commissioner refuted claims of deteriorating law and order after a woman's rape complaint was found to be false and misleading PUNE: Police commissioner Amitesh Kumar said on Sunday that a fake narrative about the city's "collapsing law and order" situation was being built based on an "entirely false and misleading complaint of a very serious nature" authorities had received recently. Kumar did not specify the nature of the complaint while speaking at the inauguration of a new police chowkey under the Sinhagad Road police station. However, his observation came against the backdrop of a 22-year-old woman's complaint that an unidentified delivery agent entered her 11th-floor flat in Pune last Wednesday, sprayed some chemical to render her unconscious, and raped her. She had also alleged that the man used her cellphone to take a selfie and keyed in a threat message, 'I will come back'. "However, our teams busted the same within 24 hours by establishing that the complaint given by the woman was entirely false and misleading and tended to hide information from police," Kumar told TOI later. The woman called her friend to her house. The selfie was clicked with her consent, which she later edited. The woman complained to the police about an unknown courier delivery person, which is not the case. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it legal? The investigations have also revealed the two had some arguments following which the woman lodged the misleading complaint." Deputy commissioner of police (Zone V), Rajkumar Shinde, said: "We have received her medical report from the Sassoon General Hospital. However, these reports are inconclusive." The woman holds a BE (data science) degree and works with an IT company in Kalyaninagar. Her complaint created a major uproar across the country before the police established there were discrepancies in her account. Investigators also said she herself wrote the threat message after the friend left her flat. On Saturday, the police got her to record her statement before a Judicial Magistrate First Class in view of the frequent changes she kept making in the narration of the incident. This was also after she and her friend were made to sit in front of each other and questioned. She has also been referred to counselling. Referring to these events as "a very serious complaint" received by the authorities, Kumar noted that a fake narrative was being constructed, one alleging that Pune's law and order systems were "collapsing". Officials from Kondhwa police on Saturday also recorded the statement of a woman professor with a private engineering college who was in touch with the woman before the registration of the rape complaint, they said. "The professor is the complainant's friend and guide and was in touch with the complainant on Wednesday. During investigations, we realised that the complainant had sought all the directions from the professor to lodge her complaint and on how to deal with investigating authorities," Shinde said. "If required, we will question the professor again. We have recorded the woman professor's statement as part of the investigation in the case," he added.
