AEW star Dustin Rhodes has made it clear that his iconic "Goldust" character is permanently retired. He also stated that he has no desire for another match against his brother, WWE's Cody Rhodes.
Rhodes delivered the news to fans on social media. He responded to suggestions about bringing back the "Bizarre One" and stepping in the ring with his brother one more time.
'Goldust Is Retired'
A fan on the social media platform X suggested a unique faction idea. The fan proposed a team-up of Goldust, Cody Rhodes' old "Stardust" character, and AAA star Mr. Iguana.
Dustin Rhodes politely but firmly shut down the idea. He noted he is happy with his current position in AEW.
"Goldust is retired. Sorry. Happy where I am at," Rhodes responded.
Dustin famously shed the Goldust persona for his emotional debut match in AEW against Cody in 2019. He currently holds the ROH World Tag Team Championship with his "Sons of Texas" partner, Sammy Guevara.

No More Matches With Cody Rhodes
Dustin also addressed calls for a third match against his brother. He has recently expressed great pride in Cody's success since his return to WWE.
When a fan suggested their story wasn't over until they had another match, Dustin disagreed. He explained that their classic 2019 encounter should not be revisited.
He stated that he has no interest in having another match because he doesn't want to "touch something so magical."
The Legacy Of Rhodes Vs. Rhodes
The match Dustin refers to is his bloody and emotional battle with Cody at the inaugural AEW Double or Nothing event in 2019. The match was critically acclaimed and is considered by many to be one of the best in AEW history.
That performance helped establish the tone for the new promotion. It also served as a major career-defining moment for Dustin outside of the Goldust character.

The Goldust character is one of WWE's most enduring and versatile gimmicks. Debuting in 1995, the provocative and androgynous "Bizarre One" used psychological mind games and unsettling mannerisms to get under the skin of his opponents and the audience, pushing creative boundaries during the Attitude Era.
Over several decades, the character evolved dramatically. He became the comedic "Artist Formerly Known as Goldust" and later formed a beloved, fan-favorite tag team with Booker T. This ability to transform from a controversial, boundary-pushing heel to a comedic babyface cemented Goldust as a truly unique and legendary gimmick.

Hulk Hogan's longtime friend and ex-WWE star Brutus ‘The Barber' Beefcake shares crushing regret after legend's death
WWE Hall of Famer Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake had known Hulk Hogan for nearly 50 years. When he debuted as a pro wrestler in the late 1970s, Beefcake was known as Ed Boulder and part of a tag team with Hogan, who went by Terry Boulder. It was Hogan, real name Terry Bollea, who 'recruited' Beefcake, real name Ed Leslie, to be a wrestler out of high school. So Beefcake was thinking of his friend Hogan — who had reportedly been dealing with several health issues — in the days leading up to his death Thursday morning at age 71, and in an interview with TMZ, Beefcake expressed regret about not being able to see him one last time. 4 Brutus Beefcake (l.) and Hulk Hogan (r.) YouTube/WWE 'I was going to try to go to his house a couple of days ago,' Beefcake said in an interview published Saturday. 'My wife said, 'You should just go over there.' And I was thinking, 'Oh, my God,' but if I go to the house and they say, 'No, you can't come in,' it would have crushed me. So I didn't [go,] and now I wish maybe that I had tried to get in and tried to get to see him before he passed.' A cardiac arrest call was placed from Hogan's Clearwater, Fla. home Thursday at 9:51 a.m., police said, with medics arriving five minutes later. He died at 11:17 a.m. Beefcake remembered Hogan as a loyal friend. 4 Brutus Beefcake at the U.S. vs. Canada Border Brawl wrestling event on May 25, 2025. 'I was in a horrible accident and not expected to live,' Beefcake recalled to TMZ. 'And [Hogan] left his family in California — his wife was about to have a baby, his son Nick — to fly to Florida to be there because the doctor said they didn't think I was going to make it. And he flew there to be there for me. 'And when they brought me out of a drug-induced coma, and he said to me, 'Don't even think about it. Brutus, you're going to live.' And I did. And he was there for me at the moment I needed the most.' After getting Beefcake started in the business, Hogan inducted his friend into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2019, a day he says he'll treasure forever. 'I owe him everything,' Beefcake said of Hogan.

WWE star Chelsea Green leaves social media after backlash for Hulk Hogan comments
WWE star Chelsea Green announced she was taking a break from social media on Friday night after she received backlash for her remarks about Hulk Hogan after the pro wrestling icon's death. Green, like many in the pro wrestling world, offered her condolences amid Hogan's death. She appeared on CBS News' 24/7 show on Thursday and called him an "absolute icon" despite his "polarizing political views." Hogan supported President Donald Trump during the 2024 presidential election and was already considered to be a polarizing and controversial figure after leaked audio showed him making racist remarks. He lost favor with some pro wrestling fans because of it. Green's remarks about Hogan drew backlash from fans on social media, and she addressed them in an initial post. "A significant part of my role at @WWE involves engaging w the public & responding to questions, often on live platforms," Green wrote on X. "Yesterday, I was asked to comment on Hulk Hogan on live tv. Let me be clear: my stance on racism is unwavering. I do not condone it—period. "If my response (or tweet) seemed dismissive of real concerns, I sincerely apologize. That was never my intention. I tried to acknowledge a death respectfully, even when the legacy is complicated. I am learning one day at a time and will continue to learn." The backlash appeared to continue, and Green stepped away from social media altogether. "I've tried to keep my page positive and comedic, but today, a lot changed… and it hit harder than I expected. The name calling, the death threats, the faceless accounts," she added. "Social media was supposed to be a fun place and it hasn't been for a while. It's been overwhelming and I need to step away for a little bit." Hogan died on Thursday after suffering a potential cardiac event at his home in Florida. He was remembered across the sports entertainment world. WWE paid tribute to him on "Friday Night SmackDown" with a video of his pro wrestling success and a 10-bell salute.

WWE SummerSlam 2025 Confirmed Matches And Expected Main Events

More Images) WWE SummerSlam 2025 will take place across two nights for the first time ever this year, and the two-night extravaganza is shaping up to be a show for the ages. Among the key attractions inside MetLife Stadium are a WrestleMania 41 rematch pitting Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship as well as the first televised bout between CM Punk and Gunther. SummerSlam 2025 set a SummerSlam record with nearly 58,000 fans in attendance, and this year, more than 40,000 tickets have been sold for each night. The 2025 edition of WWE SummerSlam will mark Cena's final SummerSlam appearance as part of his official retirement tour. WWE SummerSlam 2025 Match Card for Saturday Last Friday, WWE revealed the match card for each night of SummerSlam 2025. There are currently six matches scheduled for Night One on Saturday, Aug. 2: Country singer Jelly Roll is stepping in as a celebrity replacement for rapper Travis Scott after the latter reportedly had a "falling out" with WWE. The WWE Women's Tag Team Championship is also a surprise addition to WWE SummerSlam as Bliss and Flair were originally set to face each other in singles action before Flair requested that the parternship continue due to the mismatched duo's surprising early success. WWE SummerSlam 2025 Match Card for Sunday WWE's second night of SummerSlam will take place on Sunday, Aug. 3, and there are just five announced matches thus far: Styles vs. Mysterio was originally scheduled for June's Night of Champions but was postponed due to an injury to 'Dirty Dom.' Also noteworthy, if Valkyria fails to beat Lynch in their 'Last Chance' match, she will not be allowed to challenge for the IC title again as Long as 'The Man' is champion. WWE SummerSlam 2025 Main Event Matches According to a report from the Wrestling Observer (h/t Sports Illustrated), 'The WrestleMania 41 rematch between John Cena and Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship is the expected close the show on Sunday. As for Saturday night, the World Heavyweight Championship bout appears to be the front runner for the main spot.' The site adds, 'Gunther vs. CM Punk is the favorite to cap off night one of SummerSlam over either of the two Women's World Title matches or any other marquee contest on the card.' In March, Punk faced Gunther at a non-televised live event in Belfast, but the two stars have never faced each other at a WWE PLE. In addition, Seth Rollins was at one expected to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase in or after that main event match, though it's unclear if Rollins' knee injury has altered those plans. If Rollins does cash in, it could mark the second consecutive WWE pay-per-view that ends with a MITB cash-in after Naomi's epic title win at Evolution. WWE SummerSlam 2025 Additional Matches The lone confirmed match that has not been officially set for either Saturday or Sunday was announced in a red hot show-closing segment on the latest SmackDown: A 6-way TLC match for the WWE Tag Team Championship. The SmackDown tag team division has been one of the brand's overlooked bright spots in 2025, and it certainly has more than enough teams to make some more magic. After previously being left off several major pay-per-views, the WWE tag team titles will finally be on the line at a marquee show. The Wyatt Sicks will defend their gold against the following teams: Andrade and Rey Fenix, The Street Profits, DIY, The Motor City Machine Guns and Fraxiom. Suffice it to say, this division has been left off too many marquee shows thus far, but it won't happen again at SummerSlam. Given that only five matches have been announced for Sunday in comparison to six on Saturday, the TLC match is likely to be added to Sunday's portion of WWE SummerSlam 2025.
