Debuting his performance piece 'Radical Acts of Unrelenting Beauty' at the Paris museum, Roth stood on a dais, donned the top of a three-hole dress and then slowly headed skyward until the skirt lengthened, bulged and billowed to the size of a granary.

Marisa Berenson, Stephen Jones, Michèle Lamy, Thom Browne, Zac Posen, Becca Cason Thrash, Alexis Mabille, Michel Gaubert and Johan Creten were among the throngs who assembled in the Cour Marly for the world premiere, which started out quietly with a glacial parade of six dancers/helpers in lab coats and white gloves.
Eventually, Roth strolled in, looking forlorn and lost in his hooded white robe — until he stepped into a white meringue of a ballgown, and pleasure, pride and wonder spread across his face.
The performance unfurled in three acts. For the second, Roth traded his ballgown for massive winged appendages, more projections giving him bird or butterfly wings to try on.
Everyone was filming like there was no tomorrow.
A Broadway producer turned rabid fashion fan — and devoted couture client — Roth turned out to be bang on trend with his use of vaporous fabrics, seen earlier in the week on the couture runways of Balenciaga and Iris Van Herpen, who also attended on Wednesday night.
In an interview prior to his three back-to-back performances, Roth described them as 'an invitation to explore the possibilities of beauty, of self-expression, of transformation, even transcendence.'
After the spectacle, guests were funneled into the fashion exhibition running at the museum through Aug. 24 titled 'Louvre Couture: Art and Fashion — Statement Pieces.' Roth was the live primer.

Ibiza Rocks cancels all events after two British men die at resort in a fortnight
A popular Ibiza hotel has cancelled all of its upcoming events after two British men died in separate incidents in the space of two weeks. Gary Kelly, a 19-year-old ice hockey player from Scotland, died at Ibiza Rocks hotel on Monday. His death came just two weeks after another Scottish tourist, 26-year-old Evan Thomson, died after falling off a balcony on 7 July. Rapper Dizzee Rascal and drum and bass band Rudimental were set to take the stage in the famous resort this week, but both performances have been cancelled. The hotel said its advertised events would be cancelled due to the 'seriousness of the situation and out of respect for those involved'. It added in a statement: 'We are deeply shocked and devastated by the recent incidents that have tragically occurred. Our priority is to support those affected and their loved ones during this incredibly difficult time, and to fully assist the authorities with their investigations. 'The safety and wellbeing of our guests has, and always will remain, our highest priority.' The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said it is supporting the families of two British men who died in separate incidents in Spain, adding that it is in contact with local authorities. Mr Kelly played for the Dundee Stars, which said it was 'truly devastated' to hear of his passing. 'Everyone at the club including players, staff, management, and ownership are heartbroken to hear this tragic news,' it added. 'Gary was hugely talented and charismatic individual who had a great future ahead of him. His loss will impact many in the ice hockey community and beyond. He will be sadly missed.' The Aberdeen Lynx Ice Hockey Team said it was 'heartbroken' to hear of the death of 'one of our brightest young stars'. 'Gary was more than just a talented hockey player — he was a young man full of heart, passion, and dedication. On the ice, he gave everything he had. Off the ice, he brought energy, kindness, and an infectious love of life that lifted everyone around him. 'He wore his heart on his sleeve, and that spirit left a lasting mark on our team, our club, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. 'Rest easy, Gary — you will always be one of our brightest stars.' Other ice hockey teams including The Whitley Warriors, for whom Mr Kelly played briefly, and The Glasgow Clan, also paid tribute to Mr Kelly. Earlier this month, Lel Kellighan, mother of Evan Thomson, confirmed his death on social media. 'I'm absolutely heartbroken to write and tell you all, earlier this week my son Evan was in a tragic accident whilst on holiday with his friends in Ibiza and sadly passed away,' she said. Trump l'oeil: How does Trump rate as an artist?
As President Donald Trump considers life after the White House when his term-limited time in office ends in 2029, might he follow the path set by one of his predecessors and make a post-presidency pivot to an art career? Trump's artistic skills are in the spotlight after The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump allegedly contributed a suggestive drawing and lewd poem for Jeffrey Epstein's 50th birthday in 2003. Trump denied having anything to do with the page, but in his denial, he told an undisputable lie: 'I never wrote a picture in my life,' he told The Journal. Trump has, in fact, made many pictures in his life, and the description of the medium used to make the drawing reportedly sent to Epstein—a heavy marker— just so happens to be his medium of choice. Say what you will about the inconsistencies between his words, politics, and actions, but Trump has a consistent, distinctive artistic style. Trump created marker-made doodles showing recurring motifs of city skylines for charity auctions throughout the 2000s, when he hosted NBC's The Apprentice and The Celebrity Apprentic e. 'It takes me a few minutes to draw something. In my case, it's usually a building or a cityscape of skyscrapers, and then I sign my name. But it raises thousands of dollars to help the hungry in New York through the Capuchin Food Pantries Ministry,' he wrote in his 2008 book, . Far from trompe l'oeil (French for 'fools the eye'), a style in which objects are depicted with photographically realistic detail, one of Trump's doodles of the Empire State Building is filled in with sharp black squiggles that resemble his own sharp, jagged signature, while a 2006 sketch of the George Washington Bridge stands apart from the rest and proves Trump has more artistic skill than he might let on. His sketch of the bridge shows a sense of depth and angles. Viewed as a body of work, most of Trump's sketches are rudimentary and his skylines blocky and simple ('Art may not be my strong point,' he admitted in Trump Never Give Up), but they share an aesthetic. And judging Trump's work alongside the art of other presidents—from presidential doodles to former President George W. Bush's post-presidency oil paintings —it's clear that his style is singular. 'It's sort of surprising that Trump's doodles show a bit of artistic talent,' David Greenberg, a journalism and media studies professor at Rutgers University and author of books including Presidential Doodles, tells Fast Company. 'I'd put him in maybe the top third of presidents in his doodling. Of course, it's hard to say. He's no Herbert Hoover, that's for sure.' The National Archives called Hoover 'among America's greatest doodling presidents.' Is there a market for Trump to make a name for himself as an artist out of office? Still, like with a painting by, say, Khloe Kardashian, Trump's doodles aren't valuable for their artistic merit, but for the artist's famous name. Trump's Empire State Building drawing sold at auction for $100 in 1995 for a charity; by 2017, when he was president, it resold for $16,000. By this measure, Trump's potential value as an artist has never been higher. More famous than ever, Trump could do worse than an art career. 2023's Most Brilliant Puzzle Game Finally Comes To Switch And Xbox
'Viewfinder' is a game that everyone should try. After years of being a PlayStation console exclusive, the most inventive game of 2023 — and, arguably, the cleverest puzzle title in years — is finally coming to Xbox and Switch in 2025. With it, a whole new raft of players will see why this debut from a plucky Scottish developer managed to completely bend gamers' minds. Viewfinder, created by Sad Owl Studios, is celebrating its second birthday in style by announcing its arrival on Xbox Series X/S on August 12, with its inevitable and long overdue Nintendo Switch release coming this winter. Published by Thunderful Games — a label known for backing some pretty damn good and thoroughly offbeat indie titles (like Cursed to Golf and LEGO Bricktales) — Viewfinder sits alongside bonce-warping stablemates like 2020's Superliminal and 2021's Maquette. However, it builds on these experiences to deliver some genuinely incredible mechanics that push the boundaries of reality, but also make you appreciate just how clever the developers' minds are to even come up with these ideas in the first place. It certainly warranted more awards than it received, even if it did get a couple of deserved BAFTAs. The core mechanic of Viewfinder revolves around your camera, which you use to take photographs that reshape your bizarre world. Early on, you place pre-made images into the environment to unlock new paths; as you progress, you take and use pictures to overcome obstacles, experiment with perspective, or retrieve seemingly impossible-to-get items. Viewfinder introduces its ideas at a steady pace, letting you freely experiment while consistently making you feel challenged, but not necessarily frustrated. While the narrative never quite hits home — even though it has its moments — Viewfinder has a quiet charm that complements its bizarre yet introspective tone. There are occasional stumbles, including the odd visual hiccup, a relatively short runtime of around five hours, plus an uneven difficulty curve — though this final 'problem' will be based on how your brain is wired for logic — but in any case, these issues are easy to overlook given the wider, stunning experience. There are no details on pricing just yet, but it originally cost $25, which is a solid price point, even if it can be completed in a couple of nights (and what nights you'll have). If you're still unsure, check out my original review from 2023; it landed on my 2023 indie GOTY list at #8, but in retrospect, it really should've been in the top five.
