R Ashwin cleared from ball-tampering allegations in Tamil Nadu Premier League
The Madurai franchise had accused DD of tampering with the ball by using towels treated with chemicals during their game in Salem in the ongoing TNPL on June 14.
Siechem Madurai Panthers coach Shijit Chandran said in the complaint, originally addressed to franchise CEO Pooja Damodaran and then sent to the TNPL.
'The ball's condition deteriorated rapidly during our innings, affecting our batsmen's performance. You can hear the sound of every shot our batters played after the powerplay, which were as if they were hitting hard stone instead of a cricket ball,' Shijit Chandran said as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
'We are of the view that the Dindigul Dragons team used foreign substances to alter the ball's condition, including using special towels with pre-applied roughening agent, which is unacceptable and against the spirit of the game, and amounts to cheating,' he added.
After a detailed review of the matter, TNPL CEO Prasanna Kannan said no evidence of ball-tampering had been found. 'The towels in question were TNCA-issued and equally available to both teams. The Playing Control Team - including umpires and the match referee - maintained full oversight of the ball throughout the match. No concerns were raised during play, and no verifiable evidence has been provided. The claims appear speculative and post-facto in nature.'
'Should the franchise possess credible and verifiable evidence, they may submit a formal request for an Independent Commission of Enquiry by 3 PM on 17th June, along with supporting material (video, photographic, or testimonial),' he added.
Dragons had eased past Madurai in Salem on Saturday, with openers Ashwin and Shivam Singh helping them chase 151 in less than 13 overs for their second win in TNPL 2025. Ashwin's Dindigul are the defending champion, having won their first title last season. (ANI)

Ahmedabad airport gets bomb threat email. Here's what we know
The authorities at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on Tuesday received a bomb threat on Tuesday, reported ANI, following which a massive search operation was launched. The local police rushed to the spot and scanned the entire airport premises with the help of cyber crime branch and other security agencies, PTI quoted Assistant Commissioner of Police, 'G' Division, VN Yadav as saying. "The threat turned out to be a hoax as nothing suspicious was found. The Airport police as well as cyber crime are conducting further investigation," he informed. Also, an airport spokesperson said the threat was 'non-specific' and nothing suspicious was found after the search. A Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad spokesperson said, as quoted by ANI, "Following the receipt of a threatening email on 22 July 2025, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad, activated the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee, and the threat was assessed as non-specific." "CISF's Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad conducted comprehensive checks in line with standard security protocols. After a thorough sweep of the premises, no suspicious object or activity was found. Airport operations have continued without disruption," the spokesperson added. As per the details, in the past six months, hoax bomb threats were received by the Gujarat High Court, the Ahmedabad airport and over 20 private schools across the state. A report by PTI stated that the threat was sent via an email at around 7:30 am and claimed that an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was placed inside a cigarette packet. It also claimed that the bomb could detonate at any time. However, no suspicious object has been found as of yet.

People will tell he hasn't played but he was there on the A tour. He's been in cracking form in first-class cricket. He is used to bowling long spells and you need that in England. He will be a really good foil for Siraj and Bumrah. Prasidh is also an option but I would rather go with Anshul," he said.
