James made the big revelation during a Glastonbury talk at the weekend.
Speaking on the stage as revellers watched on, the actor talked about his break-up with actress Imogen Poots.
"This is going to sound ridiculous but I got broken up with and it was massive," James shared.
"We should rename this talk Heartbreak and it was on Heartbreak Therapy."
Continuing, he said: "I was a year and a half ago and I'm feeling great.
"But out of that massive change... I'm so sad. It's very f**king sad."
Revealing how he was broken up with by Imogen, James said: "But it happened in a very abrupt way and it happened to me and my life just permanently shifted, completely changed direction.
"And I thought I lost the person but I also lost the life that I was about to lead and the kids that we named and all that kind of stuff.
"And actually in the last year and a half I have gone through the most monumental change as a result.
"And I feel like I've grown up. I feel like I've become a man. It's mad.
"It's like I'm 38 years old and I suddenly feel like I've grown up."
Talking about how he got over the split, he told festival goers: "I found some friends, relationships, the outpouring of love from my family, the people around me was amazing.
"I ended up going to a Buddhist retreat in the south of France called Plum Village.
"It's the best place in the world. And I went because I was in this pit of pain and now I have this community.
"It's a Zen Buddhist community. It's amazing. And if you haven't gone, really look it up because it really does change your life. But so much has been born from that massive radical change.
"So I know you wanted positive. Well that is positive."
The Sun revealed the former couple's split in February last year after six years together
A source said: 'James and Imogen have extremely busy work lives and it has made it difficult for them to see each other.
'They grew apart and split up last year.
"It hasn't been easy for either of them but they are keeping their heads down and getting on with things.'
The couple got together after James's two-year romance with Irish actress and singer Jessie Buckley ended in 2017.
James previously spoke about juggling his hectic work life with his relationship, and said: 'It comes at a cost because you don't see each other a lot.
'But we are willing to pay that for the benefit of having someone in your life close to you who gets it, who is forgiving, who will give up their Sunday to do an annoying self-tape (audition).'
MOVING ON
It comes after The Sun revealed earlier this month how James had been caught snogging Lily Allen at Lido festival in London.
One onlooker told us: 'James and Lily looked very into each other and they were snogging backstage.
'We were all quite surprised to see them there together, let alone kissing.
'I don't think they've even known each other that long, but it was a fun hang-out backstage and they got taken away by the vibe.'

Former MP Tim Holding weds his long-time partner in stunning ceremony at their multimillion-dollar French chateau - after asking for donations to restore the property

Tim Holding has wed Felicity Selkirk in a beautiful ceremony at their sprawling French chateau. The former MP, who was a Victorian Labor minister in the Steve Bracks and John Brumby governments, tied the knot with his fiancée on 21 June at their magnificent Château de Purnon. The couple said 'I do' in the chapel of their 237-year-old Louis XVI-style chateau, which they bought for $1.19 million in 2020 and have been restoring over the last few years. The 105-room castle is near the French village of Verrue, which has just 400 residents and is located three and a half hours outside Paris. Taking to social media, Felicity shared a glimpse into their intimate wedding ceremony and their stunning French DIY project. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'In Purnon's sublime chapel, surrounded by family and friends, we took the next step in our journey together,' she said. In her vows, Felicity gushed over the 15 years spent with the former MP, revealing that she is 'happiest' when she's with her now-husband. 'For 15 years you've been by my side, you're my calm, my joy, my pride. We've roamed the world, just me and you. I've climbed many a mountain following you. 'It's where I'm my happiest, when we're side-by-side, together forever on this wild ride. So today I promise you all my heart, you've always had it right from the start.' Another clip posted by Felicity to Instagram showed the couple restoring the chapel for their big day, which required a lot of cleaning and fixing in the run-up. In 2023, Tim asked the public to donate to the huge restoration project and labour of love that he took on with his fiancée at the time. As well as the main 18th-century Louis XVI-style chateau, there are two main buildings, a dried out moat, cottages, stables, a wine barrel room, a chapel, a boulangerie and an orangerie. Tim was a Victorian MP from 1999 to 2013, and a year after he resigned, he set off for France. He and Felicity have been regularly documenting their progress on the chateau, with Tim even returning to Melbourne to celebrate the launch of Les Amis de Purnon (Friends of Purnon), a not-for-profit association to support the restoration of Château de Purnon. At the time, tickets were reported to have cost $150 a head. The request for donations attracted criticism from The Australian's Margin Call editor Yoni Bashan, who referred to the restoration as a 'self-enriching vanity project'. 'The people are already paying for this guy to yuk it up in the French countryside. Now, in the ultimate act of p***-taking, he's asking punters to help him pay for it. C'est incroyable! (It's incredible),' the column - written in a response to a piece by The Herald Sun - read. The column also stated that Tim would have left parliament with a pension of around $150,000, while his fiancée is an heiress to the Selkirk Bricks company. The couple first came across the chateau in 2019, and they now live in a small wing of the property that has heating and a bath. The pair had looked at 15 other chateaus before they settled on Purnon, which on the donation website, is described as being in a state of 'serious peril'. 'Dating back more than a century, the slate roof of the castle is out of use, threatening the conservation of the framework which covers the two upper floors of the house and that of the floors,' the website read. 'A little-known treasure, the castle requires energetic and urgent action to save it from ruin and preserve its authenticity.' Tim and Felicity are hoping the castle may be used for weddings, exhibitions, concerts and guided tours once the restoration is complete. The castle and parts of its surroundings have also been listed as Historic Monuments, meaning French authorities have to approve any work being carried out. The couple, along with their passion project, have featured in television shows and magazines such as Good Weekend throughout its restoration.

Cardi B fans are convinced her revenge romance with NFL star Stefon Diggs is already over after spotting major clue

Cardi B 's fans are convinced her new romance with NFL star Stefon Diggs is already over. The Bodak Yellow hitmaker, 32, went Instagram official with the New England Patriots wide receiver, 31, on June 1, but has since deleted photos of them together from her Instagram, causing speculation that they've split up. Diggs has also shared a photo featuring Cardi in a carousel on June 16, but that snap has now been removed, however another photo of him and the singer from a post in May is still visible on his profile. Cardi also shared a clip captioned 'sooo tired' to her Stories on Sunday. In it, she wore just a bathrobe while getting her hair done, as she lamented about her lack of sleep, though she did not address why she decided to delete Stefon's photos. Despite the social media cleanup, Cardi and Stefon still follow each other on Instagram. The hip hop star previously shared a steamy photo dump that included a snap of her and the athlete getting cozy on a yacht, as well as a video of her twerking on him in a hot tub, amid her ugly divorce from Migos rapper Offset, 33. The two also enjoyed a romantic trip to France just a week ago, with Cardi gushing that Stefon rented castle Château de Farcheville for her. She shared several videos on her Instagram Stories on June 24, telling her fans: 'Why this man got us staying in a castle? I'm talking about a real castle.' However, after fans spotted that the duo have removed photos of each other from social media, they quickly started speculating that their brief romance had already ended. 'That ended as quickly as his time in Houston,' one fan wrote. 'Left her husband for a weekend relationship,' another chimed in, referencing her ex Offset. 'Bro didn't renew the 30 day trial.' 'Where digs at ?' another questioned. 'Damn but they was just at the castle,' someone else wrote. Fans also took to Stefon's Instagram, with one asking: 'Where is the picture w Cardi ?! What's going on?' However, amid the speculation some fans believe Cardi may have simply archived her photos with Stefon in order to focus on the promotion of her upcoming album titled 'Am I the Drama?', which is slated for release on September 19. Cardi and Stefon were first rumored to be dating earlier this year when they were spotted together on Valentine's Day in Miami. Diggs has made headlines in recent months for multiple wild partying videos, which revealed had left Cardi furious. In one of the videos Diggs was seen flirting with other women. The clip was filmed during Diggs and Cardi's getaway during Memorial Day weekend, while they were at the same boat party. Cardi B was previously in a longterm, on-and-off relationship with Offset for nearly seven years. They secretly got married in 2017 and have since welcomed three children together but called it quits for good in 2024. Three years into their marriage, she first filed for divorce following infidelity rumors, but the pair ended up reconciling. In July 2024, she filed for divorce for a second time and went on to start dating Diggs. Cardi and Offset have been entangled in a bitter divorce battle amid their ugly split. In it, she said that the rapper has not pitched in a penny for the kids since their split. The I Like It performer also was critical of Offset for seeking spousal support in the split, again itemizing expenses she's paid for without his assistance. 'Kiari, have I asked you for anything?' the vocalist said. 'You want spousal support so bad.' Cardi also said that Offset has 'seen Blossom only like five times' since her birth last fall.

Ozzy Osbourne's pals share heartbreaking reason Black Sabbath rocker, 76, 'won't stop making music' after he performed farewell gig

's pals have lifted the lid on his future plans, saying he won't stop making music as it's 'in his DNA'. The rocker has been on the music scene for decades, and it doesn't look like he will be quitting anytime soon. The husband of Sharon Osbourne, 76, performed his final gig at Birmingham 's Villa Park this weekend - but his nearest and dearest say the Black Sabbath frontman has told friends he still sees a future for himself in the music industry. Despite having neck and back issues and Parkinson's, Ozzy can't see himself quitting after what happened to his late father when he retired. One of Ozzy's closest friends says he 'always thinks about his dad when it comes to retirement' because his father died just a few days after giving up work. 'I would not be surprised if, knowing Ozzy, he would do something around a stage to promote that,' the friend told The Mirror. 'Oz has made it clear many many times that he doesn't want to simply retire and stop making music or feeling the love from live audiences. 'He feels that he will wither away and pass if he stops altogether. His biggest worry - and he has said this often - is that the same thing happens to him as his father. That haunts him.' They claimed 'working is what keeps Ozzy going' and 'it's in his DNA'. Ozzy closed out his final ever live performance with some emotional words at Birmingham's Villa Park Stadium on Saturday night. He reunited with his Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for their first performance in their original line-up since 2005 - and their final ever show as a band. Ozzy has spoken openly about his health in recent years after undergoing seven surgeries in the past five years, including a fourth spinal operation in 2023. And the heavy metal singer had some poignant words for Villa Park as he brought the show to an emotional close in his hometown, Birmingham - where Black Sabbath formed some 56 years ago. Closing the band's final gig, Ozzy said: 'It's the last song ever. Your support has enabled us to live an amazing lifestyle, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.' A message on screen then read: 'Thank you for everything, you guys are f***ing amazing. Birmingham Forever,' before the sky lit up with fireworks. The band's final performance was overwhelming for frontman Ozzy, who repeatedly thanked fans for their ongoing support over his five decades in the music industry. As the 42,000-strong crowd cheered him on, Ozzy admitted at one point: 'You have no idea how I feel.'
