Time of India20 hours ago
Bhopal: CM Mohan Yadav has reiterated the state govt's commitment to implementing 27 per cent reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs). He said the matter had been delayed in court due to the earlier announcement being made without proper survey or preparation.
Officials have now been instructed to draft a bill for the Assembly based on factual, data-driven findings.
Yadav said the state govt was actively working to extend the benefit of reservation to those who were left out under the existing 14% quota. In this regard, a 10% reservation for economically weaker sections of the general category has also been implemented.
Efforts will also be made to allow students who were unable to join due to court proceedings to now receive their appointments.
He further said that the state govt has resolved pending promotion cases of officers and employees. The process of the caste-based census has also been initiated following the initiative of Prime Minister Modi. Yadav expressed these views during a media interaction at Samanvay Bhawan on Saturday.
Letter to Chouhan on moong MSP
Yadav has written a letter to Union agriculture and farmers welfare minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, requesting that a target be set to procure at least 40 per cent of the total moong production at the minimum support price in the interest of farmers.

Chirag Paswan says he will contest Bihar polls, backs demand for domicile policy in government jobs

PATNA: Asserting that he was contesting the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar, Union minister Chirag Paswan on Sunday voiced his support for the introduction of domicile policy in government jobs in the state. Paswan, who heads the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), made the announcement while addressing a rally in Saran district that borders his Hajipur Lok Sabha constituency. "People have been asking me whether Chirag Paswan will contest the assembly elections. I want to announce from Saran that yes, Chirag Paswan will contest the elections for the sake of a better future of Bihar," he said, evoking thunderous applause. "I will contest the election for the people of Bihar, for my brothers, mothers, for my sisters. We will build a system in Bihar that will truly take the state forward on the path of development. I will realise the dreams of my father and work for 'Bihar first, Bihari first'. I will live and die for Bihar and its people," he added. Paswan also supported the demand for introducing a domicile policy for government jobs in the state, becoming the only NDA leader to do so. Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has promised implementation of "100 percent domicile" if the Mahagathbandhan, helmed by his RJD, came to power in the state after the elections. "For the sake of the youth of Bihar, I am in support of the introduction of a domicile policy in government jobs. This has been a long-standing demand of job seekers," Paswan said. "I must inform you that the domicile policy was introduced in 2006, but it was withdrawn by the opposition parties when they came to power. The RJD and Congress never think about the betterment of the youth of the state. They always mislead people. If they come to power, they will snatch over half of your wealth via inheritance tax," he claimed. The Nitish Kumar government has already ruled out the possibility of the introduction of a domicile policy, stating that any such move would be against the Constitution. Attacking the RJD, Paswan alleged that the people talking about Bihar's development now are the ones who had ruined the state in the '90s.

Fake govt order issued before Assembly polls leads to infra works worth crores, probe begins

Maharashtra's Rural Development Department (RDD) is probing a fake Government Resolution (GR) issued just days prior to the 2024 state Assembly polls leading to infrastructure works worth crores. The department has asked all Zilla Parishads in the state and all Superintending Engineers of Public Works Department (PWD) to not act on the said GR as it has already led to the tendering and sanctioning of works worth at least Rs 6.94 crore in Ahilyanagar district of western Maharashtra. The RDD has a budget head called 2515 1238 which deals with providing basic amenities to villages as suggested by elected representatives. On October 3, 2024, just prior to the Assembly polls, a GR was issued sanctioning developmental works worth Rs 6.94 crore for Ahilyanagar district under the above-mentioned budget head. Based on the said GR, tenders were issued at the district level. The 25/15 scheme implemented in rural Maharashtra by the RDD is an important scheme for carrying out various development works according to local needs. Under this scheme, infrastructure works such as village roads, drains, Pandan roads (roads leading to farms), roads connecting cemeteries, public toilets, Gram Panchayat office repairs, gymnasiums, market stalls are mainly undertaken. These works are carried out at a cost of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 25/30 lakh each on the recommendation of the local MLA. At the district level, the works are implemented through the Zilla Parishad or the Public Works Department. Under the scheme, works worth Rs 1,500 to 2,000 crores are carried out in the state in a year. 'When the contractors sought payment of works done, the file of the same was noticed by officials in Mantralaya who cross-checked with the issued GRs. It was found that no such GR was ever issued on October 3. It was a work of forgery and cheating. The payment was stopped and departmental inquiry was ordered,' said a senior official from the RDD. On March 28, 2025, the RDD issued circular to all ZPs and the PWD's all Superintending Engineers about the existence of fake GR and to be remain careful while sanctioning works at local level. The circular stated, 'The correspondence from the state government's official e-mail id of should only be considered official regarding the budget head 2515 1238.' The circular also advised to immediately contact the RDD in case of any doubt regarding any GR. It also advised to initiate criminal proceedings. The Assembly elections were held last year. The Central Election Commission implemented the model code of conduct (MCC) for the elections from October 15. Before MCC, developmental works worth thousands of crores of rupees were approved by the state government through all government departments and government decisions for the works were published in a hurry. 'It seems someone took advantage of this. As of now, we have come to know about one district alone. We do not know how many such GRs were issued and whether they were used in other districts,' the officer added. In Ahilyanagar district, the fake government decision has led to as many as 45 development works in four talukas namely Ahilyanagar, Parner, Shrigonda and Nevasa.
