HBO Announces New Cast Members for Upcoming Harry Potter TV Series

After seven core-series books, 11 films including three Fantastic Beasts prequels, a stage sequel, and countless spinoffs and inspirations in the form of theme parks, video games, merchandise, and more, the Wizarding World is set to soon expand to one more medium: TV.
Warner Bros. Discovery announced plans in 2023 to develop a new live-action Harry Potter series, with each book in the main franchise to be adapted into one of seven seasons that will come out over 10 years on cable network HBO and its streaming platform HBO Max.
'I'm looking forward to being part of this new adaptation which will allow for a degree of depth and detail only afforded by a long form television series,' said J.K. Rowling, who authored the novels that first published in 1997 and who will be an executive producer of the series.
'The series will feature a new cast to lead a new generation of fandom, full of the fantastic detail, much loved characters and dramatic locations that Harry Potter fans have loved for over twenty-five years,' Warner Bros. Discovery said in its announcement.
The original movies launched the careers of stars like Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, while also featuring beloved actors such as Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter, and Ralph Fiennes.
With the first season of the reboot expected to be released in late 2026 or early 2027, Warner Bros. Discovery has steadily revealed more and more of the names set to take part, most recently announcing nine roles on June 9.

Cosy country pub in Oxfordshire added to Michelin Guide

A cosy country pub in Oxfordshire has been added to the Michelin Guide for 2025. The Bat and Ball on High Street in Cuddesdon reopened in February as the latest venture from Ben Moss's Montgomery Group. Already owning the popular The Lamb Inn pub in Little Milton, Mr Moss doubled up with the acquisition of The Bat and Ball and hired Rick Owens as head chef, formerly of Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons. With rave reviews since opening its doors to the public, the cosy watering hole has now been included in the Michelin Guide. READ MORE: David Beckham takes swipe at Cotswolds neighbour Jeremy Clarkson The Michelin Guide write-up reads: "From the same team as The Lamb Inn at Little Milton, this Oxfordshire pub is an object lesson in how to inject new life into the village local. "The owners have brought some love to the place, retaining a pubby feel, real ales and a dart board, so it remains a community hub for drinkers as well as diners. "Whilst there is a lack of pretence, the kitchen team are serious about their cooking, sourcing top ingredients and cooking them with care. "Well-judged Scottish cod with capers and beurre noisette is a prime example of the commitment to true, honest flavours." Rod Stewart shares special message for Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis

Rod Stewart welcomed Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis onto the Pyramid Stage during his Legends slot at the festival on Sunday (29 June), in a heartwarming move to mark Eavis's 90th birthday. Eavis, who will turn 90 in October this year, arrived on stage in a wheelchair, accompanied by his daughter Emily, the festival's organiser. As Eavis entered the main stage at Worthy Farm, Stewart, 80, greeted him with an embrace and a kiss on the cheek.'Happy Birthday to Michael Eavis, he's the guy who founded Glastonbury,' Stewart told the crowd. 'Let's all give him a big round of applause. Michael, where are ya? Don't be shy!' Stewart then launched into a performance of his 1975 hit 'I Don't Want to Talk About It', featuring a singalong from the enormous crowd. Eavis's appearance wasn't the only surprise of the show. Stewart brought out Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall straight afterwards, for a rendition of Simply Red's 1989 track 'If You Don't Know Me by Now'. He then welcomed Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie Wood, for their 2004 Faces hit 'Stay With Me', followed by Scottish star Lulu. Elsewhere, Stewart's set included hits such as 'Maggie May' and 'Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?'. His performance came just days after he endorsed Nigel Farage in a newspaper interview, telling Brits to 'give Farage a chance'. He claimed that the Reform UK leader is 'coming across well' when asked about the political future of the UK. Eavis also made headlines earlier this week when he stated that those who disagree with Glastonbury's political leanings 'can go somewhere else'. The event has long been known for its strong political undercurrent, with stages such as Left Field and Green Fields' Speakers Forum regularly hosting politicians, pundits, and celebrities. Asked by the Glastonbury Free Press, the festival's resident newspaper, if the event still stands for something, Eavis did not mince his words. 'Oh heaven's above, yes, of course it does,' he said. 'And I think the people that come here are into all those things. People that don't agree with the politics of the event can go somewhere else!' US pop star Olivia Rodrigo will be closing the festival with her headline performance on the Pyramid Stage at 9.45pm on Sunday night. Keep up to date with 's Glastonbury live blog here.
