Michigan football recruiting surges with 4-star OL Marky Walbridge commit

USA Today4 days ago

Michigan football recruiting has been on a heater, and you never interrupt a school when it's on a heater.
The Wolverines have been on multiple commit watch ever since the conclusion of the June official visit cycle and thus far have netted two pledges in four-stars DT Titan Davis and WR Zion Robinson. The question then became, who's next?
With Sherrone Moore at the helm, you always know that offensive line is going to be a priority for the maize and blue, yet Michigan only had one offensive lineman committed in 2026 in Cartersville (Ga.) Cass four-star IOL Bear McWhorter. Until now.
After what appears to be a successful official visit to Ann Arbor for Victors Weekend, Needham (Mass.) St. Sebastian's four-star offensive lineman Marky Walbridge committed to Michigan football over Alabama, Penn State, and Boston College.
Walbridge is rated highest by On3, which has him as the No. 235 player in the country, regardless of position. He's listed as an interior lineman by On3 but an offensive tackle by 247Sports -- which ranks him as a three-star.
Here is what the class looks like with Walbridge in the fold using the 247Sports Composite rankings:

Former Auburn basketball star Jabari Smith to sign $122M deal with Houston Rockets

AUBURN — Former Auburn basketball standout Jabari Smith Jr. has a new deal with the Houston Rockets, according to a report from ESPN's Shams Charania, in the form of a five-year, fully guaranteed $122 million rookie contract extension. Selected by Houston with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Smith's new contract should have him with the franchise through the 2030-31 campaign. Advertisement He remains part of a core that includes Fred VanVleet and Steven Adams. They'll be joined by newly acquired Kevin Durant for the 2025-26 season, fresh off earning the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference playoffs last year. Smith averaged averaged 12.2 points and 7.0 rebounds last season, despite breaking his left hand in January. Through three seasons, Smith has averaged 13.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in the NBA. According to Charania's report, Smith is the only player from his draft class who has recorded 2,500 points and 1,500 rebounds so far in their NBA careers. At Auburn, Smith averaged 16.9 points and 7.4 rebounds in his lone season with the program. Alongside fellow 2022 draft pick Walker Kessler, Smith helped Auburn to a 28-6 campaign, as well as a top-10 end-of-season ranking, despite the Tigers' round of 32 exit in that year's NCAA Tournament. Michigan football lands elite DL over Alabama

The post Michigan football lands elite DL over Alabama appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Michigan football team picked up an impressive addition to its 2026 recruiting class on Wednesday as elite four-star defensive lineman Titan Davis announced his commitment to the Wolverines. Davis had narrowed his list of college options down to two as he was down to Michigan and Alabama, and like we have seen in each of the last two seasons on the gridiron, the Wolverines took down the Crimson Tide. This is a huge recruiting win for head coach Sherrone Moore. Advertisement 'BREAKING: Four-Star DL Titan Davis has Committed to Michigan, he tells me for @on3recruits,' Hayes Fawcett said in a post. 'The 6'5 270 DL from Saint Louis, MO chose the Wolverines over Alabama.' Titan Davis had a short message to share after committing to the Michigan football team: 'I'm home GO Blue 〽️!' He said. Michigan started 2024 with a win over Alabama in the Rose Bowl College Football Playoff semifinal on New Year's Day. The stakes weren't as high on New Year's Eve in the ReliaQuest Bowl, but the Wolverines beat the Crimson Tide to end 2024 as well. Now, it's the offseason, so the Michigan football team will have to settle for recruiting wins over Alabama. Advertisement Davis is a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports. He is the #101 player in the 2026 class, the #13 DL and the #2 player in the state of Missouri. Davis currently attends DeSmet High School in St. Louis. Missouri is an SEC state, but Davis is going to play for Michigan in the Big Ten. 'Ascending defensive end with a prototypical frame that could fit into an odd or even front at the next level,' Davis' scouting report reads. 'Began his prep career playing quarterback before flipping to the other side of the ball and finding instant success in the trenches. Flashes the ability to separate and bypass base blocks with his lateral agility. Not the most destructive defender at this stage, but can find a flat back and shoot his hands to gain extension. Solid get-off frequently gives him an advantage in passing situations.' All signs point to Davis going on to have a very successful career at Michigan and beyond. 'Quick to unleash a bull-rush, but can also rip his way around the corner and has the stride length to finish,' his scouting report continues. 'Enters senior year believed to be north of 6-foot-4, 265 pounds with adequate length in the arms. Must improve pad level and learn how to bring it every single snap, but appears to be rounding into form as he nearly doubled his production as a junior for Missouri's 6A champs. Projects as a potential multi-year contributor and possible impact player for a College Football Playoff contender. Should offer plenty of alignment flex and could very well end up finding a home on the inside depending on how the body matures.' Advertisement After the commitment from Titan Davis, the Michigan football team now holds the #28 recruiting class in the country, according to 247Sports. The school in 29th? Alabama. When all is said and done, the Wolverines will likely finish with one of the top classes in the country. They are just getting started. 4-star OT chooses Michigan football over Alabama, Penn State

The post 4-star OT chooses Michigan football over Alabama, Penn State appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Michigan football team is getting hot on the recruiting trail as the Wolverines just landed their second commitment of the day. Wednesday has been a good one as Michigan first landed a commitment from four-star wide receiver Zion Robinson, and then it got better when four-star offensive tackle Marky Walbridge committed to the Wolverines as well. Walbridge was choosing between Michigan, Penn State and Alabama, and he chose to play for head coach Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines. Advertisement 'BREAKING: Four-Star OT Marky Walbridge has Committed to Michigan, he tells me for @on3recruits,' Hayes Fawcett said in a post. 'The 6'6 270 OT from Needham, MA chose the Wolverines over Alabama & Penn State.' Marky Walbridge kept things short and sweet with his Michigan football commitment message: 'Go Blue 〽️,' he said. Walbridge is a four-star recruit according to On3, but according to 247Sports' composite rankings, he is a three-star. Walbridge is the #447 player in the 2026 recruiting class, the #38 OT and the #2 player in the state of Massachusetts. He currently attends St. Sebastian's high school in Needham, MA. Advertisement The Michigan football team picked up a recruiting win over Alabama earlier this week as well when four-star defensive lineman Titan Davis chose the Wolverines over the Crimson Tide. These recruiting wins are just the latest victories for Michigan in their recent run of dominance against Alabama. Michigan and Alabama played each other on the gridiron twice during the 2024 calendar year, and the Wolverines won both matchups. The two teams played each other in the Rose Bowl College Football Playoff semi on New Year's Day to start the year, and Michigan won that one before winning the national championship about a week later. Then, the two teams played again on New Year's Eve in the ReliaQuest Bowl to end the year. Alabama was a big favorite, but Michigan won that game as well. From winning on the field to winning with recruits, Michigan has had Alabama's number as of late. That has to feel great for the Wolverines. This is another good pickup for Sherrone Moore and the Michigan football team, and the Wolverines have quickly seen their 2026 recruiting class surge in the rankings. Michigan's class was ranked #32 in the country earlier on Wednesday, and it is now all the way up to #15, according to 247Sports. Even more good news for Michigan: The program is still expecting multiple commitments to come in the coming weeks. This class should end up being one of the best in the country.
