KTR challenges CM Revanth to farmers' welfare debate, gives 72-hour preparation time

HYDERABAD: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has formally accepted Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's challenge to a public debate on what the governments of the pink party and the Congress did for the welfare of farmers in Telangana.
Addressing a press conference at the BRS party office on Saturday, the former IT minister accepted the challenge, saying that he is ready for the debate 'anywhere, anytime' be it the Assembly, Ambedkar statue, Kondareddypalle, Chintamadaka or Kodangal, and asked Revanth to fix the date, time, and place for the same.
'If none of these suits you, I'll be at the Somajiguda Press Club at 11 am on July 8 ready to expose the truth before the media.'
Rama Rao alleged that Revanth doesn't even have basic knowledge of agriculture. 'I am generously giving him 72 hours to prepare for the debate. Otherwise, he'll show up and may talk about 'basins' and 'okra', making a mockery of himself and the office he holds.' 'Even a bull can explain how agriculture thrived under the leadership of former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao,' he remarked.
Accusing Revanth of acting as a secret ally of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the BRS working president said that Telangana's water resources were being diverted to the neighbouring state under the guise of projects like Banakacherla.
'Revanth is looting Telangana's water and funds, all to please his political mentor,' Rama Rao alleged.
During KCR's government, pioneering welfare initiatives like Rythu Bandhu were implemented with over `73,000 crore deposited directly into the accounts of farmers besides supplying free 24/7 electricity to the agriculture sector, reviving over 46,000 tanks under Mission Kakatiya and helping Telangana become India's highest paddy producer.
He said, 'Not a single woman is receiving the `2,500 monthly pension promised by the Congress. Distribution of scooters to college-going girl students, creation of jobs, unemployment allowance, proved false promises.'
'The Congress has also cheated farmers by reducing the loan waiver from `50,000 crore to `12,000 crore and the government owes every farmer `19,000 under Rythu Bharosa. They have not paid even the crop insurance premiums for three months,' he said.

'On wrong side again': BJP attacks Rahul Gandhi's 'obsession' with China military tech; cites previous comments

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of batting for Chinese military hardware and said that Raebareli MP has a knack for ending up on the wrong side of the patriotic discourse. BJP IT chief Amit Malviya on Monday claimed that in 2021, Rahul Gandhi questioned why Indian forces did not use Chinese-style surveillance drones and even praised the PLA's tactics during the Ladakh standoff. "At an academic interaction in London (2023), he claimed China is winning the 'technology race' and urged India to learn from Chinese military innovation, including drone warfare," Malviya said in a post on X and added that Rahul Gandhi has a curious obsession with Chinese military tech. — amitmalviya (@amitmalviya) "During a 2022 closed-door discussion with defence 'experts', Rahul reportedly pressed for India to 'explore options' similar to China's tactical drone deployment in border areas. Whether it's undermining India's armed forces or amplifying enemy models, Rahul Gandhi has a knack for ending up on the wrong side of the patriotic discourse," he added. Earlier on Monday, Malviya criticised Rahul Gandhi again for spreading fear and incorrect information about the stock market, highlighting that it has generated wealth for numerous retail investors through mutual funds and IPOs. Following SEBI's action against hedge fund Jane Street for alleged index manipulation, Gandhi posted on X, "I clearly stated in 2024 -- the F&O market has become a playground for 'big players', and small investors' pockets are continuously being drained. Now, SEBI itself is admitting that Jane Street manipulated thousands of crores. Why did SEBI remain silent for so long?" BJP IT department head countered that SEBI's ban on a global entity demonstrates robust regulatory measures to protect small investors. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like A failing liver is taking my son away from me! Malviya emphasised that the Modi government's reforms have strengthened SEBI's transparency and independence. He pointed out that major financial scandals occurred during Congress rule, citing Harshad Mehta, Ketan Parekh, and the UTI incident. The BJP representative highlighted India's stock market growth, noting a USD 1 trillion increase in market capitalisation since March 2025. He detailed the mutual fund industry's 576 per cent growth over a decade, with AUM rising from Rs 8 lakh crore to Rs 54 lakh crore. Referring to Gandhi as "Balakbudhhi", Malviya criticised him for spreading market misinformation whilst maintaining his own investment portfolio. He cited increased SIP contributions and successful IPO launches, benefiting ordinary investors. Malviya concluded by questioning Gandhi's understanding of market operations, suggesting that the Congress party's credibility was diminishing while India's markets continued to provide opportunities for millions of new investors under the Modi government's leadership.

BJP trying to intimidate people, Congress leaders; has not fulfilled pre-poll promises: Kharge

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday accused the ruling BJP of reneging on its pre-poll promises and asked people to remain united in the fight to protect their 'jal, jungle and zameen' (water, forest, land). He alleged the BJP was trying to intimidate "everyone" in the country and misusing central probe agencies against its opponents. Speaking at a public rally titled, 'Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan-Jai Samvidhan' at Science College Ground in Raipur amid heavy rains, the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha claimed the poor are being "looted" under the Modi government. Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kharge said he has time to visit foreign nations, but has no time to tour Manipur, which has seen ethnic clashes since May 2023. "The BJP has been trying to intimidate our leaders using central agencies like the ED and I-T, but we will never be scared. Our party leaders in Chhattisgarh, including former chief minister (Bhupesh Baghel), are being harassed (using probe agencies)," he told the gathering. "They (BJP) also tried to implicate (Congress leaders) Sonia Gandhi and Rahul ji in the National Herald case. They always try to defame the Congress," Kharge maintained. The BJP makes lots of promises before polls, but forgets them after coming to power, the Congress president averred. "It is their habit to intimidate everyone. You will survive only when you will not be scared. If we want to protect our jal, jungle, zameen (water, forest, land) then you all have to be united in the fight against them (BJP)," he insisted. "Today, people like Adani and Ambani have been coming here (Chhattisgarh) and occupying land. They are felling lakhs of trees (in forests for mines). Modi ji has been destroying the lives of our tribal brothers and the people of Chhattisgarh," the Congress leader alleged. "Why is (Union Home Minister Amit Shah) Shah visiting Chhattisgarh again and again? Is this your in-laws' place? The chief minister of Chhattisgarh follows their instructions (PM and Home Minister). If they say get up, he gets up. If they said sit, he sits. It is a big betrayal for the self-respect of Chhattisgarh. It is a big insult," he said. Lots of industrialists are coming only to "loot" coal and other mineral deposits in the state and they are not concerned about its people, the Congress president emphasised. "Modi ji and Shah ji have been supporting them (industrialists). Shah has been visiting here to check out for minerals," he claimed.

Tamil Nadu Congress chief stopped from taking part in Kancheepuram temple ritual

Tamil Nadu Congress state president and Sriperumbudur MLA K Selvaperunthagai was allegedly prevented by temple authorities from participating in the 'kumbhabhishekam' rituals at the Vallakottai Murugan temple in 'kumbhabhishekam', a consecration ritual conducted after 17 years, marked the end of four years of temple renovation. He alleged that while he was stopped, BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan was allowed to perform the holy water Soundararajan was taken to the main tower to perform the 'kudamuzhuku' — the pouring of holy water on the kalasam — Selvaperunthagai was stopped initially. After his supporters raised objections, he was later permitted to approach the tower, but was reportedly halted again by Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) officials before participating in the actual ritual. He was also not handed the temple flag, a symbolic honour. 'The 'kudamuzhuku' festival went well and my congratulations. Lakhs visited Thiruchendur temple, and I went there under the supervision of the minister. But officials' apathy was visible. We don't know who is controlling whom,' said Selvaperunthagai later, expressing disappointment at the added that although the situation was handled peacefully, the incident highlighted deeper systemic issues: 'This is a 2000-year-old issue and it can't be settled overnight. Officials did it and we stood with people and watched. I don't want to say anything that affects the Chief Minister or the minister's (PK Sekarbabu) good name.'Selvaperunthagai, who belongs to a Scheduled Caste community, said he was not allowed to see the deity and had to leave for another engagement.'Officials should behave like officials. That is the problem. I don't know why they stopped me and didn't allow me,' he remarked.- EndsMust Watch
