Swift action from public halts Lahad Datu fire from spreading

LAHAD DATU: Swift action by the owner and neighbours prevented two four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicles from being completely destroyed in fire at Palm Height, here, Thursday night. The State Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said the department received a distress call following the incident at 10.39pm. A team of 10 firefighters was deployed to the scene in two machineries. Upon arrival the team reported that a fire broke out at the garage of a house and two vehicles were damaged. The team reported that a Toyota Rogue and Toyota Fortuner suffered 20 per cent damage while the ceiling of the garage suffered five per cent damage. 'The team reported that no victim was involved in the incident. The fire was put out by the owner and members of the public. Cement truck crashes into office in Tawau, two hurt

TAWAU: Two people were injured after a cement mixer truck lost control and crashed into the office building of a concrete manufacturing company at Batu 5, Jalan Apas here on Friday. The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received the emergency call about the 10-ton vehicle losing control at 8:50 a.m. In the accident, both victims, aged 60 and 36 respectively, reportedly sustained minor injuries from the impact of the collision. One of the victims was successfully rescued from the vehicle by members of the public and was subsequently sent to Tawau Hospital by ambulance for further treatment. Meanwhile, a fire team from the Tawau Fire and Rescue Station, led by Senior Fire Officer (PBK) II Jehrey Ibno, conducted monitoring at the scene. The fire team also carried out information gathering and inspections related to the risk level at the accident site. Two hospitalised after bus, car collide in Ranau

The Fire and Rescue Department responded to the 10.16pm call and arrived at the scene 21 minutes later. Of the 23 people involved, 20 passengers were uninjured, while the 65-year-old bus driver sustained injuries and a female passenger was found unconscious. Both received immediate medical attention before being transported by ambulance to Ranau Hospital for further treatment.
