9-1-1 Season 9: Everything We Know About the ABC Drama's Fall Return

9-1-1 Season 9: Everything We Know About the ABC Drama's Fall Return

Yahoo20 hours ago
Even if math isn't your strong suit, you should know that 9-1-1 fans minus the 118 equals one very long summer.
Season 8 marked a major turning point for the ABC procedural, with the death of Captain Bobby Nash (played by Peter Krause) thrusting the firehouse into uncharted, uncertain territory. With the pain of his loss still fresh, along with the myriad changes that follow such an unexpected event, fans are eager to see how the 118 will navigate this strange new world in Season 9.

Aside from Krause, however, the show's entire roster of series regulars is expected back for Season 9, including Angela Bassett as Athena Grant, Oliver Stark as Evan 'Buck' Buckley, Aisha Hinds as Hen Wilson, Kenneth Choi as Chimney Han, Jennifer Love Hewitt as Maddie Han, Ryan Guzman as Eddie Diaz and Gavin McHugh as Christopher Diaz.
So, what new drama awaits those familiar faces? Read on for a complete breakdown of everything we know about 9-1-1 Season 9 so far, then drop a comment with your own hopes for the 118's return this fall.
Though an official premiere date has not yet been announced, we do know that new episodes of Season 9 will air Thursdays at 8/7c on ABC this fall. 9-1-1 will be followed by spinoff 9-1-1: Nashville at 9 pm, then Grey's Anatomy Season 22 at 10 pm.
Production on the procedural's ninth season is expected to begin sometime in mid-to-late July, according to Oliver Stark, who said in a June 24 interview that he's returning to set 'in about a month.'
Ryan Guzman had 9-1-1 fans concerned in May when he posted a farewell story to Instagram, fueling speculation that Eddie's time on the show was coming to an end.
'Well, it officially happened,' Guzman said. 'It's the last day on this lot. Stage 6, I'll miss ya. Seven years. That's crazy.'
But this turned out to be much ado about nothing. Guzman was merely saying goodbye to the Fox lot, where 9-1-1 has filmed since it premiered in 2018; the show is relocating to Burbank for Season 9.
Following Bobby's untimely demise, the 118 is in serious need of new leadership. Hen was the logical first choice, but when she turned down the promotion, the fandom's collective attention shifted to Chimney, whose inspiring finale speech all but guaranteed him the gig.
If you were hoping to spend more time in the home that Bobby and Athena built, you're out of luck. Despite initially balking at the idea, Athena ultimately put the house up for sale in the Season 8 finale, leaving curious fans to wonder where she'll be putting down roots next. And could Athena's major life changes also apply to her career? Only time will tell.

The Biggest New Las Vegas Restaurant Openings, July 2025

Las Vegas's dining scene moves quickly — powerhouse casinos usher in new behemoths with Champagne and sparklers while off-Strip restaurants continue to open doors in homey neighborhood strip malls. Here is a list of new and notable spots that opened in Las Vegas recently. For the best restaurants in town, check out Eater Las Vegas's Essential 38 or Eater's guide to eating and drinking in Las Vegas. The most exciting new entrant to the Las Vegas dining scene is Via Via, the new food hall at the Venetian Resort. A veritable who's who of popular talent, the hall attracts some of the hottest of-the-moment restaurants to what had been its generic mall-style food court. The biggest get may be Howlin' Ray's, the Los Angeles cult-favorite fried chicken joint known for drawing 45-minute lines for its Nashville-style hot chicken sandwiches. Chef Ray Garcia, also well-known in Los Angeles, reanimates his B.S. Taqueria with house-made chorizo and birria nachos. Other popular stalls at Via Via include James Beard Award nominee Mason Hereford's New Orleans restaurants — Molly's Rise and Shine slinging bacon, egg, and cheese biscuits by morning, and Turkey and the Wolf taking over with fried bologna sandwiches after 11 a.m. New York noodle spot Ivan Ramen serves spicy pickles, wagyu pastrami buns, and ramen that a critic once described as 'so good it will make your eyes explode.' The Lower East Side's Scarr's Pizza brings its in-house milled flour pizzas — minus the usual NYC wait — and Florence's legendary All'Antico Vinaio expands with a second Vegas location. Rounding it out, the team behind Death & Co. debuts Close Company, a new cocktail destination from one of the most influential names in modern bars. The latest venue to reshape the Las Vegas Strip skyline is the Arizona-based Bottled Blonde. The three-story building on the southeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road near Blake Shelton's Ole Red opened with the towering figure of a blonde pin-up model embracing an equally oversized beer bottle. The 20,000-square-foot sports bar has more than 40 televisions for daytime watch parties and multiple bars. Drinks take the form of margaritas and mules, plus an extensive draft list and 'Capri Sin' cocktails in nostalgic juice pouches. Bar snacks look like Parmesan truffle fries, tuna wonton nachos, and wood-fired pizzas. The latest Thai restaurant to take up residence in Chinatown blends traditional flavors with purple-hued lighting, ferris wheel shooters, and tableside presentations. One such offering is the cajete, a dish with Mexican influences that combines crab meat, crispy papaya, avocado, tomato, and lime dressing in a molcajete for dipping with shrimp chips. The yellow curry is vibrant and aromatic, chicken wings are spicy with fried garlic and shallot, and a sticky rice dessert gets topped with mango, strawberry compote, and peanut. Wash it down with Thai iced tea or shots from a rotating ferris wheel. Veteran Las Vegas chef Ricardo Romo, whose career spans top kitchens on and off the Strip, has debuted Tuscan Cove Bar amd Patio in Southern Highlands. The new restaurant is a partnership with Steven Kennedy of All In Hospitality and marks Romo's third restaurant in the area. Romo is best known as the co-founder and executive chef of Southern Highlands's Roma Kitchen and Chef's Roma Kitchen, which he and his team took over in Henderson in late 2022. The 5,000-square-foot Tuscan Cove seats 70 and offers a patio lit with string lights and a fire pit. Highlights from Romo's menu include a wedge salad, loaded supreme pizza, a rotating cheese and charcuterie board, and a chicken prosciutto Caprese sandwich. The centerpiece bar serves local beers, wine by the glass, and cocktails like a cucumber mint mule. The team behind Stray Pirate is back with Prowl, a sultry, jungle-themed cocktail lounge that opened next door on East Fremont. Swapping shipwrecks for shadowy rock walls, the new spot channels Elvis's Jungle Room with moss, lava rock, glowing orbs — and a digital black panther slinking across screens behind the bar. General manager and drink maestro Chris 'Tater' Gutierrez keeps the focus on inventive cocktails: think fresh sugar snap peas, hibiscus-ginger beer, or roasted pepita orgeat. The cheeky menu includes drinks like Sex Panther, served in a ceramic cat head, and For a Good Time Call — with an amusing Easter egg for anyone who dials the included number. With fewer than 50 seats, retro booths, and a couple of wild bathrooms (butterflies! fireflies!), Prowl is playful while still serving up the kind of inventive drinks fans expect from Gutierrez. Just beneath BrewDog's massive 30,000-square-foot rooftop brewpub on the Las Vegas Strip, UnderDog Beer Hall offers a casual vibe, tabletop games, and Skee-Ball. Underdog is equipped with giant screens, a new pizza-focused menu, and beers on tap — including BrewDog favorites like Elvis Juice and guest pours from local Las Vegas breweries. The team behind Chubby Cattle's conveyor-belt hot pot restaurant and the high-tech X-Pot on the Strip is back with a new late-night venture. Chubby Skewers opened with a menu of Northeastern Chinese Dongbei-style barbecue from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. Skewers start at just $1, with options like wagyu beef, duck tongue, and spicy cold noodles. The space channels the energy of old-school Chinese street stalls with bold reds, neon lights, and low tables. See More: Vegas Restaurant Openings

Hip-hop mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs acquitted on most serious charges in split verdict

Hip-hop mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs has been found guilty of two of the five charges he faced in his racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking trial. On count one of the five-count indictment – racketeering conspiracy – the jury found Combs not guilty. On count two – sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, pertaining to Cassie Ventura – the jury found Combs not guilty. On count three – transportation to engage in prostitution, also pertaining to Ventura – the jury found Combs guilty. On count four – sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, pertaining to the woman identified by the pseudonym "Jane" – the jury found Combs not guilty. On count five of the indictment – transportation to engage in prostitution, also pertaining to "Jane" – the jury found Combs guilty. Combs faces a maximum prison sentence of 10 years for each count of transportation to engage in prostitution. Following six weeks of testimony presided over by U.S. District Court Judge Arun Subramanian that saw the prosecution present 34 witnesses and the defense present none, the jury of eight men and four women deliberated just over two days days before reaching their verdicts. Tune into ABC at 10/9c Wednesday for an ABC News special, 'Verdict: The Diddy Trial,' on the Sean 'Diddy' Combs trial, and streaming next day on Hulu and Disney+. Subramanian said he will decide whether Combs get released today. He said that the decision might take some time – including giving the lawyers time to write letters arguing for and against release – but that it will happen sometime today. Prosecutors asked for a 'few hours.' Comey said the government plans to pursue 'significant incarceration' for Combs. Court is adjourned for now. Combs got down from his chair and knelt on the floor after the verdicts were read, appearing to pray while some of his attorneys embraced. Marshalls then escorted Combs out of the courtroom while some spectators in the gallery cheered and applauded. MORE: Everyone who testified for the prosecution in the Sean 'Diddy' Combs trial Combs was initially indicted in September 2024 on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking by force and transportation to engage in prostitution. A superseding indictment in March 2025 included additional allegations of forced labor under the racketeering conspiracy count, while another superseding indictment the following month added an additional charge of sex trafficking and one of transportation to engage in prostitution Federal prosecutors accused Combs of using his many businesses, and the people he employed to run them, to conduct a criminal enterprise to illegally coerce women into sex and conceal his alleged illicit conduct to protect his reputation. The alleged activities included "sex trafficking, forced labor, interstate transportation for purposes of prostitution, coercion and enticement to engage in prostitution, narcotics offenses, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice," according to the indictment. In addition to the racketeering charge, the indictment also included two separate counts each of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion and transportation to engage in prostitution, both involving two alleged victims. Combs' attorneys countered that Combs may well be a violent man – one who indulges in unconventional sexual conduct, abused illegal drugs and committed domestic violence – but he wasn't part of a broader criminal organization. 'This case is about those real-life relationships, and the government is trying to turn those relationships into a racketeering case,' Combs' attorney, Teny Geragos, told jurors in her opening statement. 'The evidence is going to show you a very flawed individual, but it will not show you a racketeer, a sex trafficker, or somebody transporting for prostitution.' MORE: Sean 'Diddy' Combs rejects plea deal ahead of sex trafficking trial The prosecution called 34 witnesses over six weeks of testimony, beginning with Combs' former girlfriend Cassie Ventura, whom Combs was seen physically assaulting in a widely circulated hotel surveillance video from 2016. Other witnesses included two alleged Combs victims who testified under the pseudonyms "Mia" and "Jane," as well as two male escorts to testified that they were paid to participate in so-called "freak-off" sexual encounters with Combs, Ventura and other alleged victims. The jury also heard from witnesses to alleged abuse and sexual acts, and a forensic psychologist who testified regarding why people often remain in abusive relationships. One of the most high-profile prosecution witnesses was Scott Mescudi, aka rapper Kid Cudi, who testified that he was told Combs allegedly broke into his home and had someone set his car on fire after learning that he was dating Cassie Ventura. Combs previously denied any involvement in the car fire. The defense, which twice during testimony unsuccessfully asked the judge to declare a mistrial, called no witnesses before resting their case on June 24, just two hours after the prosecution rested theirs, electing only to read additional evidence into the court record. Combs told the court at that time that he did not wish to take the stand in his own defense. Federal prosecutors the following day told Judge Arun Subramanian that they were no longer including attempted kidnapping and attempted arson as underlying crimes in the alleged racketeering conspiracy charge against Combs. Instead, prosecutors signaled that they would push sex trafficking and forced labor as primary predicate acts that the jury could find to convict Combs of racketeering conspiracy. Defense attorneys had argued that no evidence was presented directly tying Combs to the arson that damaged rapper Kid Cudi's vehicle. Defense attorneys also argued that the alleged kidnapping of Combs' former employee, Capricorn Clark, by Combs to confront Kid Cudi was far removed from the heart of the case. Federal prosecutors did not elaborate on their decision in their letter to the judge. The prosecution delivered a nearly five-hour-long closing argument on Thursday, June 26, summarizing 28 days of testimony and evidence. The defense spent four hours the next day presenting their summation, followed by the prosecution rebuttal. Deliberations began on Monday, June 30 after Judge Arun Subramanian gave the jury their instructions. On Tuesday, the jury told the court that they'd reached a verdict on four of the five five counts with which Combs was charged, they were unable to reach a verdict on the first count -- racketeering conspiracy -- prompting the judge to instruct them to continue deliberations. This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
