‘Maintain strict vigil at EVM storage facility'

District Collector P Ranjith Basha has directed officials to maintain round-the-clock strict surveillance at the EVM (Electronic Voting Machines) storage facility. He issued these instructions during a quarterly inspection of the godown, conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
The inspection was carried out on Friday at the EVM godown located within the Collectorate premises, in the presence of representatives from various political parties. The Collector meticulously examined the storage of EVMs and reviewed the existing security arrangements inside the facility.
Officials demonstrated the safeguards in place, and the Collector verified compliance with protocols. The transparent inspection aimed to build confidence among stakeholders regarding the secure handling of EVMs.
Participating in the inspection were District Revenue Officer Venkata Narayanamma, Election Department Superintendent Murali and political party representatives including Sai Pradeep (BJP), Manjunath (Jana Sena), Arun Kumar (Bahujan Samaj Party district In-charge), P. Raju (Vice President, Telugu Yuvatha - TDP) and Bajaranna (Congress).

"The ECI is conducting an exercise called special intensive revision of the electoral roll starting in Bihar, and then they said they'll follow it up in Bengal. Under this, new and existing voters have to submit proof of birth & birthplace for those born before July 1987. Proof of birth & birthplace for self and one parent for those born between July 1987 to December 2004. Proof of birth & birthplace for self and both parents for those born after December 2004. If these documents are not submitted within a month, your name will be deleted from the voter list," Brien said. Derek O' Brien further stated that the EC was trying to bring back NRC in from the back door. "The EC (Election Commission) is trying to bring the NRC in from the back door. In 1935 under the Nazis, you were supposed to be given an ancestor pass. Some proof of paper to show that you are an Indian citizen is this the new version of that Nazi Ancestor Pass?... All the INDIA bloc parties will take this up in and outside Parliament..." he added.

Congress stages protest in Srikakulam against ‘misuse' of Central agencies by NDA govt.
The Srikakulam district president of the Congress, Ambati Krishna Rao, alleged that the Union government was misusing Central government organisations such as CBI, ED, Income Tax, Election Commission of India and other statutory bodies for its own political gains while ignoring the administration which is supposed to be done in accordance to the guidelines of the Indian Constitution. Along with party leaders, he participated in Samvidhan Bachao Abhiyan organised in Srikakulam on Saturday (June 28, 2025). He alleged that the Election Commission of India turned into a puppet in the hands of the Union government it was evident with huge difference between polled votes and voted counted during Maharashtra elections. He alleged that the ECI has been doing many mistakes intentionally in revision of voters' list in Bihar where Assembly elections would be held very soon. Mr. Krishna Rao has also alleged that the State government was also ignoring rules and regulations in its administration and putting the State in a debt trap. DCC vice presidents K.V.L.S. Eswari, Ijjorothu Ramana and others participated in the protest.
