Duo held for drugs in Lahad Datu

District Acting Police Chief Supt Jimmy Panyau said the duo were detained following the Op Tapis conducted by Narcotic Crime Investigation Division (BSJND). He said the operation is among efforts to combat drug activities in the district.
Advertisement Jimmy said in the first operation about 1pm on Wednesday, a 42-year-old foreigner was detained behind the shop in Taman Aman 3, Jalan Silam. 'The man was found possessing 30 packets of translucent plastic containing substances believed to be syabu weighing 5.55 grammes. 'The suspect also tested positive for Amphetamine and Methamphetamine. The seizures were estimated worth RM610.50,' he said. The second suspect, a 31-year-old local, was detained at the security post in Jalan Segama. He said the suspect was in possession of 0.78 grammes of syabu, and tested positive for Amphetamine and Methamphetamine. 'Both suspects are in our custody and investigations carried out under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952. Teacher found dead in Tenghilan, brother arrested

GDL, PSV driving licences to be suspended till completion of crash investigations: RTD

KUALA LUMPUR: The Road Transport Department (RTD) will suspend the licences of commercial vehicle drivers involved in crashes until investigations are completed, its director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said. Should the holder of a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licence or Goods Driving Licence (GDL) be found guilty after the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) investigation, their licences will be terminated. Advertisement 'To ensure commercial vehicle drivers are competent, RTD will ensure that suspended individuals must undergo and pass a refresher course before their licences are reactivated or removed from the suspension list. 'The refresher course will be organised by the RTD at locations to be determined later and drivers will be charged fees to cover the cost of the course,' he told reporters after a licence presentation here today. He shared that five commercial vehicle drivers have been suspended, including those involved in the fatal PDRM Federal Reserve Unit lorry crash in Teluk Intan and the bus that hit a height restriction barrier in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan yesterday. In other developments, Aedy Fadli said the RTD has issued 510 compound notices to express buses, tour buses and goods vehicles since the enforcement of wearing safety belts came into effect in stages from July 1 and that 80 of the notices were issued to drivers and 396 to passengers and attendants. Search ongoing for man believed taken by crocodile

KINABATANGAN: A man is feared missing after he was reportedly attacked by a crocodile while fishing near a river at Tomanggong Estate, Sukau, on Sunday afternoon. Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station acting chief Yus Pg Pinsin said they received an emergency call from the Sukau Police Station at 1.14pm. Advertisement The victim, identified as Mare Miri, was believed to have been attacked by a crocodile during a fishing activity. A team from the Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station was deployed to the scene and a search and rescue operation is underway.
