Four FRU officers remain in ICU after Teluk Intan crash, condition improving, says police chief
The officers currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Teluk Intan Hospital are Corporal Haslizal Mohd Ali, 44; Sergeant Mazlan Mat, 50; and Corporal Mohd Izwan Ishak, 39. Corporal Syed Isfan Syed Mohammad, 32, is being treated at the ICU in HRPB, Ipoh.
Hilir Perak District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Bakri Zainal Abidin told Harian Metro that the most recent officer discharged from Teluk Intan Hospital was Sergeant Mohd Parih Ali, 44, at 6.30pm on Tuesday.
'As of this morning (Wednesday), three officers remain in the ICU at Teluk Intan Hospital, and one at HRPB. I pray for their full recovery. Doctors have reported positive developments.
'They are now conscious, stable, and breathing with oxygen support. This was described as a positive sign. Most of their injuries were caused by the impact of the accident.
'Full recovery may take time, but the Hilir Perak District Police Headquarters remains committed to ensuring the welfare of the victims' families.
'This is why we have been conducting regular hospital visits to meet with the families, identify their needs, and provide welfare support,' he reportedly said after attending a special assembly at the Hilir Perak District Police Headquarters, where he presented 75 certificates of appreciation to those involved in managing the incident.
The first officer to be discharged was Corporal Nizam Tarmizi, 38, on the day of the incident, followed by Lance Corporal Muhammad Aniq Taufiq Rozi, 26, on May 14; Corporal Mohd Harrisul Ikhsan Mohd Mahabudin, 39, on May 16; and Corporal Mohammad Zulnaidi Muhammad Zulkifli, 34, on May 17.
Bakri added that senior police leadership have also made visits to the victims and their families to offer moral support.

Three more arrested in Bukit Puchong abduction case
KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 — Three more youths have been arrested in connection with the abduction of a man in Bukit Puchong that was caught in a video that went viral this week. 'Preliminary investigation showed that the motive of the abduction is related to debts,' the police official said. He added that the case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

Multiple allegations against Penang doctor show lack of effective action, says women's group
The Women's Centre for Change (WCC) is appalled by the lack of effective action by authorities against a Penang medical officer who has now been arrested for the fourth time in a string of alleged sexual offences or indecent behaviour towards female patients. Despite three prior arrests in February and March 2025 for separate incidents involving three different women, the doctor was arrested again last month for allegedly molesting another female patient. The latest incident reportedly took place on June 29 at a private clinic in Bayan Baru, where the victim had sought treatment for abdominal pain. 'According to police, the doctor had asked her to undress and allegedly touched her breasts during the consultation. Earlier news reports indicated that the doctor had allegedly photographed or filmed at least two female patients under the guise of medical procedures, where the women were told to run in place, topless,' WCC said in a statement today. 'These recurring allegations raise serious concerns about the apparent lack of effective action and accountability within medical institutions, enforcement agencies, and prosecutorial authorities. WCC asked: Why has the suspect still not been charged in court, despite police confirming four months ago – in March 2025 – that investigation papers for the three prior cases had been submitted to the deputy public prosecutor (DPP)? Despite multiple arrests, why has the suspect been allowed to continue practising medicine – including taking locum shifts at private clinics? What concrete actions, if any, have been taken by the hospital and health authorities following their internal investigations? 'How many more women must be violated – deceived, secretly recorded, molested or worse – before meaningful and effective action is finally taken? The public is no longer just waiting for answers – it is demanding effective action.' WCC added that the Health Ministry, Penang Health Department, the police, and the Attorney-General's Chambers owe the public full transparency and accountability. 'The Malaysian Medical Council and Malaysian Medical Association also have a duty to act. WCC therefore calls for the following immediate concrete actions: • That the Ministry of Health, Malaysian Medical Council, Malaysian Medical Association and other relevant authorities immediately suspend or revoke the doctor's licence to practise – including barring him from locum duty pending the outcome of criminal proceedings. • That the police and Attorney-General's Chambers expedite investigation and prosecution in all four reported cases – and move swiftly to charge the suspect without further delay. 'Above all, we seek justice for the victims and urgent action to protect other women at risk,' it added.

Teenager killed and two seriously injured in car crash after collision with lorry on A4
A 19-year-old woman has died after a car collided with a lorry in Wiltshire, police have said. Emergency services were called to the scene on the A4 Bath Road, Corsham, shortly after 1.30pm on Thursday, after a Hyundai i10 crashed with a Scania tipper HGV. The young woman, who was a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene, Wiltshire Police said. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers. Wiltshire Police said the female driver and a male passenger in the Hyundai were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the lorry was unhurt by the collision at the junction with the B3109, the force said. Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Team have launched an appeal for anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time. The road, which was closed for several hours while emergency services responded, has since reopened. Wiltshire Police said in a statement: 'We are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Corsham yesterday (24/07) in which a 19-year-old woman sadly died. 'At about 1.30pm a Hyundai i10 was in collision with a Scania tipper HGV on the A4 Bath Road at the junction with the B3109. 'A female passenger in the car was pronounced dead at the scene.
