Greater Noida brings OTS scheme for plot owners
'The scheme offers relief on interest and late fee dues on unpaid premiums and lease deeds. An estimated 2,000 flat buyers stand to benefit. Many of them have faced delays in executing lease deeds due to mounting dues,' said the authority's chief executive officer Ravi Kumar NG.
The scheme will remain effective until December 31.
The initiative will help expedite lease registrations and resolve long-pending cases. A formal office order with implementation details will be issued shortly, said officials.
Meanwhile, the board meeting, presided over by Uttar Pradesh chief secretary and authority's chairman Manoj Kumar Singh via video conferencing, took a series of important decisions to address civic needs and infrastructure gaps.
The discussed issues included the homebuyers, flood safety, and housing for airport security personnel among others.
To boost the city's flood preparedness, the board also approved building a regulator on the Aimanabad Bandh. This regulator is designed to prevent Hindon River floodwaters from entering populated areas of Greater Noida during heavy rains. It will also help prevent erosion in areas around the Bisrakh drain, said officials.
The Irrigation Department will carry out the construction, while the Greater Noida authority will fund the project with ₹10.56 crore. The funds will be released soon to begin the tender process, they added.
To support the upcoming Noida International Airport, the authority also approved a proposal to provide rental housing for Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel deployed for airport security.
A total of 467 vacant flats in Sector Omicron 1A, falling under the MIG and LIG categories, will be allocated for this purpose. The move aims to ensure accessible, secure accommodation for CISF staff working at the strategically significant airport, said officials.

Chandigarh: Punjab govt has decided to seek legal opinion on the Bhakra Beas Management Board's (BBMB) decision to make an advance payment to the Centre for the deployment of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the Bhakra-Nangal Dam and other BBMB installations. Punjab finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema said on Wednesday that the matter was discussed during a state cabinet meeting earlier in the day. "The CISF deployment is unacceptable to Punjab. We will take legal opinion on the issue. The state police is capable of guarding the dams," Cheema said, as he reaffirmed state govt's opposition to the deployment. Cheema said Punjab govt had already objected to CISF deployment at the Bhakra-Nangal Dam, with a resolution passed in the assembly on July 12. He added the consent for CISF deployment, given by the previous Congress govt in 2021, had been withdrawn, and AAP govt had made it clear that it will not bear the cost of the CISF deployment. Cheema added the Punjab assembly, in its unanimous resolution opposing CISF deployment, had expressed confidence in Punjab Police's ability to secure BBMB assets, given that no untoward incident had taken place in 70 years. Despite Punjab govt's strong objections to the Centre's move, the BBMB has gone ahead with making an advance payment of Rs 8.56 crore to the Union ministry of home affairs (MHA) for the deployment. As per the plan, the deployment will be in "hybrid mode" and CISF will be deployed along with the Punjab Police personnel, with the latter guarding the less important installations like powerhouses. In May, the Centre sanctioned a contingent of 296 armed CISF personnel for providing a counter-terrorist security cover to the Nangal Dam in Punjab amid the standoff between Punjab and Haryana over the sharing of water from the dam. The BBMB has decided to make the payment to deploy CISF at the Bhakra Dam after taking legal opinion, reportedly on the plea that it was well within its jurisdiction as it functions under the Union ministry of power. CISF personnel could later be deployed at the Pong Dam next year. Earlier, following instructions from the MJA, the partner states of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh jointly approved the deployment of CISF at all important dams at a 2022 board meeting. On the Supreme Court refusing to entertain Punjab's petition on July 28 against the release of additional water to Haryana, Cheema said the court judgement had still not been received.

Govt has opened 1 million sq km of new offshore area to step up oil & gas hunt: Hardeep Puri
New Delhi: India is witnessing a renewed surge in oil and gas exploration with the opening of nearly one million square kilometres of erstwhile 'No-Go' offshore areas in 2022, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, informed the Parliament on Tuesday. "This move has unlocked significant exploration frontiers, especially in deepwater and frontier regions such as the Andaman-Nicobar (AN) offshore basin, and has been instrumental in triggering the current momentum in offshore activity," the minister said in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha. Since 2015, Exploration and Production (E&P) companies operating in India have reported 172 hydrocarbon discoveries , including 62 in offshore areas. The minister highlighted the geological significance of the AN basin, which lies at the junction of the Andaman and Nicobar Basins within the Bengal-Arakan sedimentary system. The tectonic setting, located at the boundary of the Indian and Burmese plates, has led to the formation of numerous stratigraphic traps that are conducive to hydrocarbon accumulation. This geological promise is further amplified by the basin's proximity to proven petroleum systems in Myanmar and North Sumatra. The region has attracted renewed global interest following significant gas discoveries in South Andaman offshore Indonesia, underlining the geological continuity across the region, the minister said. While the favourable geology sets a strong foundation, Puri emphasised that the real breakthrough has come from the government's strategic policy interventions and a new exploration approach. The revised strategy has enabled aggressive acquisition of seismic data, initiation of both stratigraphic and exploratory drilling, and increased engagement with international exploration partners, several of whom have shown keen interest in the newly accessible frontier blocks, he stated. In a significant development, ONGC and Oil India Ltd (OIL) have launched an ambitious exploration campaign in the Andaman ultra-deepwater region. For the first time, drilling operations are targeting depths of up to 5,000 metres. One such wildcat well, ANDW-7, drilled in a carbonate play in the East Andaman Back Arc region, has yielded encouraging geological insights. These include traces of light crude and condensate in cutting samples, heavy hydrocarbons like C-5 neo-pentane in trip gases, the minister further stated. These findings establish, for the first time, the existence of an active thermogenic petroleum system in the region, comparable to those in Myanmar and North Sumatra. While commercial reserves remain to be established, this campaign has validated the presence of a working petroleum system and laid the foundation for focused exploration in the area, the minister said. Providing an overview of the exploration outcomes so far, the minister informed that the ONGC has made hydrocarbon discoveries in 20 blocks, with an estimated reserve of 75 million metric tonnes of oil equivalent (MMTOE). OIL, on its part, has made seven oil and gas discoveries over the past four years, with reserves estimated at 9.8 million barrels of oil and 2,706.3 million standard cubic meters of gas.
