Kempegowda led a life of Vishwamanava: DKS
Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has lauded Bengaluru's founder Kempegowda as a 'Vishwamanava'.
Speaking at an event organised to celebrate the 516th birth anniversary of Kempegowda, he said, 'Kempegowda was born a Vokkaliga but he lived a life of a 'Vishwamanava'. He has left an indelible mark on our society.' He also laid the foundation stone for Kempegowda Bhavana and awarded Kempegowda awards.
'Bengaluru is making waves around the world, but we should not forget that Kempegowda was the one who laid the foundation for the modern Bengaluru. He spread the message of secularism by giving opportunities to all sections of the society.'
'I would like to send out a message to our community. Nobody seeks to be born in a particular community. Dharma must be part of politics, but politics has no place in dharma. Kempegowda belongs to all communities, he is an asset of the society.'
'Managing Benglauru is not an easy task. I have been trying to give the city a new shape keeping in mind the scale and size of the city. Tunnel road and elevated roads are getting ready. Projects worth over Rs one lakh are being planned for Bengaluru.'
'We are planning a new 60,000-seater stadium. A land parcel of 50 acres has been identified for the purpose. We are also fighting the garbage mafia. Our government is trying to do whatever it takes to develop the city,' he said.
'We should not forget three Ks- Kempegowda the founder of Bengaluru, Kengel Hanumanthaiah who built the Vidhana Soudha and SM Krishna who built the Vikasa Soudha,' he said.
'We got the approval of the Cabinet for five-acre land for Kempegowda Bhavana in just one week. We have allocated Rs 100 crore for the Kempegowda Bhavana, a few architects have submitted the design concepts. This will be brought to the attention of Sri Nirmalananda Swamiji,' he noted.
'When I was the Energy minister, we worked out the modalities for celebrating Kempegowda jayanthi.
Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji cleared the air about the exact date of Kempegowda's birthday. This effort was the prelude to these celebrations today. I would like Kempegowda Jayanthi to be celebrated across the state,' he added.

SAD chief Sukhbir Singh challenges CM Mann to prove disproportionate assets case against Majithia
CHANDIGARH: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Saturday challenged Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to prove that Saraya Industries Limited, in which his brother-in-law and senior party leader Bikram Singh Majithia had an inherited share of eleven percent, had received even one rupee in foreign funding from 2007 to the present time. Badal was denying allegations made in the Disproportionate Assets (DA) case registered against Majithia by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau. Badal claimed the party had "conclusive proof of the alleged corrupt acts of Bhagwant Mann and his wife Dr. Gurpreet Kaur." The SAD chief stated, "The only foreign funding received by Saraya Industries was in March 2006 (one year before SAD formed government in the state) when it received Rs 35 crore from United States-based Clearwater Corporation in exchange for 25 percent shares in the company. Majithia entered politics only in 2007." He asserted that Clearwater Corporation, which had offices in several countries, had invested Rs 50,000 crore globally. "All money invested by this company through the NBFC in Saraya Industries was done after due clearance from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and approval of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB)."

Tripura needs stronger security due to current situation in Bangladesh: CM
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday exhorted various agencies to enhance security and surveillance in the state, given the current situation in Bangladesh. Tripura is surrounded by Bangladesh on three sides. Therefore, strengthening of security is needed, the chief minister said after inaugurating the state's first cyber police station here. "We all know the present situation in Bangladesh. There is a need to enhance security arrangements. The northeastern state has been made into a corridor for the smuggling of drugs and narcotic items. Infiltration from across the border is also another problem," he said. "There are reports that a section of people go close to the international border (Indian side) and have conversations with people living on the other side of the international border. The situation may turn ugly once AI-enabled 5G service is available," he said. Referring to the shift from conventional warfare during 'Operation Sindoor', the chief minister said cannons and the presence of forces were not seen in the conflict (With Pakistan). "Modern warfare requires a click," he said. "A mobile phone has become more dangerous than AK-47 rifles. Advanced technology has changed the form of battle, conflict or war," he said. Terming cybercrime a kind of shadow warfare, he said the security forces need to fight the criminals digitally to prevent fraudulent activities. Emphasising awareness among the people about cyber fraud activities, Saha said the security agencies are also required to upgrade their skills to foil fraudulent activities on digital platforms. The Director General of Police (DGP), Anurag Dhankar, urged the people to contact the newly inaugurated cyber police station if they encounter any incident related to cybercrime. The cyber police station is located in Agartala's AD Nagar and it will deal with all cyber-related crimes across the state. The Centre has given Rs 45 lakh out of the total outlay of Rs 5 crore.
