Coronation Street fans slam obnoxious character on ITV show
Taking to the Reddit page for Coronation Street, one fan of the ITV show penned: "She is very unlikable and her behaviour has been obnoxious.
"The writers must think they have our emotions in their bag and can easily manipulate our response to any character.
"First she had a bad in your face barking personality and stole booze from the hair salon.
"Now she has Gary on her side promoting a supposedly sympathetic person who is, wait for it, a victim."
Many viewers agreed with this assesment, with one person writing: "Exactly... She has been nasty... Rude."
A third user said: "The actress is fine but the writing for her character is dire. This is Corrie now, characters change personality like the wind which makes it really hard for viewers to care."
However, some voiced support for her, with one fan telling the others: "I must admit since Mick went to prison she's somewhat grown on me.
"Showing a vulnerable side as opposed to being bolshie all the time.
"Although if she supports Mick after what he's done then she needs to go."
Lou Michaelis was introduced to the show in February and has since made waves in Weatherfield.
She is also the mother of Brody, Joanie and Shanice Michaelis.

Kym Marsh to star in new play Single White Female
A new stage production of Single White Female is set to tour Ireland and the UK, starring Kym Marsh. The play, written by author, journalist and broadcaster Rebecca Reid, is described as a 'bold and modern reimagining' of the 1992 psychological thriller. Advertisement Former Coronation Street star Marsh said: 'I am so excited to be bringing this brilliant, brand new and thrilling play to theatres across England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. 'I remember being totally gripped by the movie when I first saw it in the cinema and could never have imagined back then that I'd be starring in the world premiere of its life on stage. 'Get ready to be thrilled, shocked and entertained and watch out for those stiletto heels.' Marsh, who first shot to fame in the band Hear'Say, went on to play a major role in Coronation Street from 2006 to 2019, before starring in Waterloo Road. Advertisement The new play updates the plot of the film, which was itself based on a novel called SWF Seeks Same by John Lutz. 'Full of dark humour and sharp and suspenseful storytelling, this new play updates the original story to the age of social media and all that it brings, in a gripping tale of ambition, obsession, and the desperate need for belonging in an isolated world,' producers said. The play will open at Brighton's Theatre Royal on January 9, and will then tour Ireland and the UK until June 13th. Full casting is yet to be announced. Tickets are on sale now. Advertisement

Coronation Street, Emmerdale and EastEnders pulled in major TV schedule shake up
Emmerdale and EastEnders will not air tonight and Coronation Street is off the schedule on Friday. Soap fans are in for a frustrating few days as a major schedule shake-up means Coronation Street, EastEnders and Emmerdale have all been pulled from screens tonight and tomorrow. Thursday evenings usually feature a full hour of Emmerdale and a visit to Albert Square via EastEnders, but neither will air tonight (Thursday, July 3). And Coronation Street viewers are in for disappointment too, as Friday's episode (July 4) has also been bumped from the schedule, Mirror reports. It's all down to the BBC and ITV's blanket sports coverage, with Wimbledon taking centre stage this week. The tennis tournament has dominated BBC programming, joined by live coverage of the Women's Euros, as football teams across Europe fight to make it through the group stages. ITV, too, has made space for the beautiful game. On Friday night, they'll be broadcasting the clash between Germany and Poland, following Portugal's meeting with Spain tomorrow, leaving Corrie fans with an extended wait for their next trip to Weatherfield. While EastEnders devotees had a double helping earlier this week, with hour-long specials on both Monday and Tuesday, those tuning in live had to head over to BBC Two, with others opting to stream the soap on iPlayer. There's some good news for fans of the Walford drama: when it returns next Wednesday, another double bill awaits. Emmerdale will be back a day earlier, returning to screens at 7.30pm on Tuesday, July 8. But Corrie fans will need to wait until Wednesday for the next dose of drama, with its usual Monday slot also falling victim to the Euros. Despite the disruption, ITV has softened the blow with a major digital update. From Monday, June 30, full episodes of both Coronation Street and Emmerdale have been available to stream on YouTube from 6am, hours before their TV debut on ITVX and traditional broadcast. Announcing the move on Instagram, the official Coronation Street account posted: 'Soap fans, rejoice! Starting tomorrow, full episodes will be available on YouTube from 7am, the same day they air on TV!' The update was paired with a graphic showing characters from both soaps beaming beneath their iconic show logos. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! From 2026, ITV will launch a new soap power hour, with half hour episodes of Emmerdale airing at 8pm followed by Coronation Street at 8.30pm. To mark the change, a one-off crossover special will air in January 2026, bringing characters from both shows together in a dramatic hour-long episode. Producers have promised 'everlasting consequences for everyone involved' and teased that the two fictional universes in Yorkshire and Manchester have been linked in an 'ingenious way'. So while the soaps may be missing from the evening line-up, fans still have a way to keep up, just not in the usual way.
