Revealed: Who Cleveland Browns players want as their starting quarterback with Shedeur Sanders in four-way race
It is a four-man race to become the team's starting quarterback with the void left by Deshaun Watson, who is likely out for the season with an Achilles injury.
Hoping for the opportunity is the rookie duo of Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel, alongside fellow veteran Kenny Pickett.
Yet, the roster prefers to have Joe Flacco under center in Week 1, including the influential Myles Garrett, per Cleveland.com.
Flacco is in his second tour of duty with Cleveland, having led the team to the playoffs during the 2023 season before spending one year with the Indianapolis Colts.
Sanders was viewed as a sneaky choice to start in Week 1 after his NFL Draft fall from top prospect to fifth-round selection.
The team is likely to retain all four quarterbacks into the regular season, as most franchises typically have three on the active roster, while one is a practice-squad member.
The practice-squad designation looks to be between the two rookies, as Pickett looks to have the second-easiest route to being the starter due to his NFL experience.
Flacco, 40, is not the team's long-term answer at quarterback, with his possible insertion as the signal caller coming as a way to give the Browns time to make that decision.
Pickett is already on his third NFL team after a promising start to his NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. That did not last as the team preferred Russell Wilson and Justin Fields before both of those signal callers left for separate New York teams.
It is only a few weeks before the start of training camp, and less than two months until the start of the NFL season. Only time will tell if the Browns locker room will get its wish.

Angels place RHP Hunter Strickland on IL with shoulder inflammation
July 8 - Los Angeles Angels right-handed pitcher Hunter Strickland landed on the 15-day injured list Monday due to right shoulder inflammation. The Angels recalled right-hander Victor Mederos from Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move. Strickland told reporters in Anaheim that he will undergo an MRI on Tuesday and was hopeful about the results. The 36-year-old veteran reliever is in his second season with the Angels, his eighth major league club. He has gotten into 19 games this year, including Sunday, when he threw one perfect inning in a loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. Strickland owns a 1-2 record and a 3.27 ERA across 22 innings this year. He is 26-25 with a 3.39 ERA in 499 relief appearances all-time. Mederos, 24, made one three-inning appearance for the Angels this season back in April. He scattered two runs on two hits and three walks for a 6.00 ERA. He has made 11 starts at Salt Lake this season and is 5-4 with a 4.09 ERA there. --Field Level Media

Simone Biles flaunts eye-popping new look in string bikini after sparking boob job rumors
Simone Biles continued to fuel rumors that she's had a secret breast augmentation with sizzling new vacation photos. The 28-year-old Olympic gymnast — who was recently embroiled in a feud with Riley Gaines — showed off her busty new look in snaps shared to her Instagram on Monday. The athlete wore a Fendi bikini that highlighted her ample cleavage as she enjoyed a getaway to Belize with her NFL player husband Jonathan Owens, 29. In one snap Simone was pictured relaxing in a cabana with a drink. Her sultry bikini look was accessorized with a gold chain and eyeglasses. Another showed her cozying up to the football player, wearing a pair of black mesh pants. There was also a snap of Simone — who seemed to have a noticeably smaller chest in a Sports Illustrated photoshoot from January — dipping her toes in the water while taking a photo on a disposable camera. Meanwhile Owens sported a graphic short-sleeve set and matching shorts. It comes days after Simone sparked speculation she's had a secret breast enlargement after posting a series of snaps from her tropical getaway. She unveiled a glaring new busty look while posing in a string bikini. The new snaps set the internet is alight with surgery rumors, with Dana Omari - who runs a popular plastic surgery-themed account @IGFamousByDana - among those reposting the image to her stories to offer her thoughts. Omari speculated that the sports star had work done on her breasts by penning, 'Simone Biles with the breast aug!! She looks incredible.' Biles has not yet publicly addressed the speculation. The athlete - who has previously admitted to using Botox - also uploaded a selfie that showcase a closer look at her new cleavage while she posed in a mirror. Last year, the gymnast revealed that she had Botox in celebration of her 27th birthday - but was not a fan of the procedure. In a TikTok video, she explained: 'For my 27th birthday I got Botox, like baby botox, in my T-zone and I did not like it. 'I haven't got it again because I would be standing there in practice and my eyebrow would randomly go like this [pulls it up]. So not doing that again.' During a past interview with Vogue, Biles opened up about her body image and dealing with past negative comments. 'They focused on my hair. They focused on how big my legs were,' the star told the outlet. 'But God made me this way, and I feel like if I didn't have these legs or these calves, I wouldn't be able to tumble as high as I can and have all of these moves named after me.' While talking to Harper's Bazaar last year, Simone also talked about how her confidence has evolved over the years. 'My relationship with beauty has changed a lot over time, sometimes with the trends and sometimes not.' The gold medalist added, 'Now, I would still say my personal preference is always having a clean face and just being confident in who I am. 'I'll have semi-permanent lashes the majority of the time, even if I don't have make-up on, but I think that it's really special to fall in love with what your natural face looks like.' She later reflected, 'For athletes, I think that beauty looks a little bit different for us. We love the fun aspects of beauty but it's not what we do everyday.' Biles also expressed, 'I do think that beauty standards are changing when it comes to that; it's okay to not be wearing as much make-up when we're out there performing, because that's not the main focus.' Simone competed last year for Team U.S.A. at the 2024 Paris Olympics - and she has since shared that she plans to attend the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, but doesn't know if she will compete. 'Whether on the [gymnastics] apparatus or in the stands, I still don't know that,' she told the French outlet L'Equipe, per The Guardian. 'But 2028 seems so far away, and my body is aging. I felt it in Paris.' 'I went back to the [Olympic] village, I took the elevator and my body literally collapsed. I was sick for 10 days,' Biles recalled. 'The other day, we were sprinting in the garden with friends, I had aches and pains for three days. So, I honestly don't know. We'll see.' Simone has recently been embroiled in a feud with former swimmer Riley Gaines. Last month in June, Biles publicly disagreed with Gaines' views on trans athletes in sports. Weeks later, the Olympic star deleted her X account, but it has since been activated once again. It came after she came to the defense of a transgender high school athlete that Gaines had been attacking. But after Biles personally insulted Gaines - for which she later apologized - it opened up a flood gate of attacks. Gaines decided to deliver a parting shot to the gymnast, despite saying that she'd be interested in forming an alliance with her. Gaines claimed that Biles 'has an incredibly unpopular and morally indefensible take - gets rightfully ridiculed for it - issues a groveling public apology after unrelenting backlash - deletes account to pretend it never happened.' Riley attacked a Minnesota high school on social media for fielding a softball team with a trans player. This came after she also led the charge against a trans girl competing in track events in California. Biles snapped, lashing out at Gaines and calling her views 'truly sick', before getting personal and telling her to 'bully someone your own size, which would ironically be male'. A few days later, Biles apologized to Gaines for the personal remarks, saying, 'These are sensitive, complicated issues that I truly don't have the answers or solutions to, but I believe it starts with empathy and respect. 'I was not advocating for policies that compromise fairness in women's sports. My objection is to be singling out children for public scrutiny in ways that feel personal and harmful. 'Individual athletes - especially kids - should never be the focus of criticism of a flawed system they have no control over.' 'I believe sports organizations have a responsibility to come up with rules supporting inclusion while maintaining fair competition. We all want a future for sport that is fair, inclusive, and respectful.' While Gaines accepted the apology at the time, she continued to criticize Biles for her views and opinion.

Agent: Paolo Banchero, Magic agree to $239M max rookie deal
July 7 - The Orlando Magic are locking up cornerstone player Paolo Banchero, agreeing to a five-year, $239 million maximum rookie extension with the star forward on Monday, his agent told ESPN. If Banchero is either named to an All-NBA team or wins NBA MVP or Defensive Player of the Year next season, the extension could reach $287 million, per Miller. Banchero's deal includes a player option in 2030-31, which has not happened since Luka Doncic (then with the Dallas Mavericks) and the Atlanta Hawks' Trae Young finished out their rookie max contracts in 2021. The Magic appear poised to be serious contenders in the Eastern Conference for the foreseeable future, with Franz Wagner and Jalen Suggs also under contract for the next five seasons, newcomer Desmond Bane signed through the 2028-29 season and Tyus Jones joining on a one-year deal. Banchero, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 draft, has guided the franchise to two consecutive postseason appearances, despite missing 34 games last season with an early oblique injury. After the All-Star break, he carried the Magic with averages of 29.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists. He is also coming off a campaign in which he averaged career-high 25.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game along with 4.8 assists, becoming just the third Magic player to average more than 25 ppg (Shaquille O'Neal, Tracy McGrady). Over his three seasons, the 2022-23 NBA Rookie of the Year and 2023-24 All-Star has averaged 22.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 198 games (all starts). --Field Level Media
