Teen changed with manslaughter in deadly head-on collision in Howard County
On Friday, May 9. a stolen 2017 Hyundai was driving east on Guilford Avenue in Jessup when it crossed the double yellow lines on Guilford Road in Jessup.
Video obtained by WJZ shows the Hyundai attempting to speed past a 2021 Tesla Model Y preparing to make a left turn onto Twelve Sons Court.
The Hyundai sideswiped the Tesla, and a 2010 Honda Fit before crashing head-on with a 2021 Honda Civic.
After the accident, four teens hopped out of the Hyundai and fled the scene. One of the juveniles, who was injured in the collision and taken to a hospital, is now charged with auto manslaughter and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.
He has been released from the hospital and is now in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Services.
Family and friends cope with devastating loss
69-year-old Bonnie Fuller Griffith of Columbia was taken to the hospital after the crash but was pronounced dead.
As friends and family of Griffith mourn her loss, police continue to search for the three teens who fled the scene.
Griffith was originally from Miami but was living in Columbia. She is remembered as a dedicated dance mom and arts patron, with an "infectious smile, a giving spirit, and a zeal for life."

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Authorities Tuesday evening released more information on a fiery crash in Poway that left five people dead Friday afternoon. The San Diego County Sheriff's Office reports three vehicles were involved in the deadly crash that happened at 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 18, on State Route 67, north of Iron Mountain Drive and east of the city of Poway. The sheriff's department reports all five people in the three vehicles died at the scene. Detectives are investigating what caused the pickup truck to veer into oncoming traffic and are reviewing video they received from a passing Tesla that shows the pickup truck hit the other vehicles head-on in the opposite lanes of traffic. While the family has since identified two of the victims— Marcial Rivera, 59 and his son, Emmanuel Rivera, 32 — and has set up a GoFundMe and is planning a Sunday fundraiser, the names of the other three victims have yet to be released by authorities. Tesla owner wants harsher charges after vandal caught on video scratching car with box cutter
A Tesla owner in Miami's Little Haiti neighborhood said a man used a box cutter to scratch his car and it was caught on video. "It's frustrating. I don't know what he was thinking!" said James Lipari, whose Model 3 Performance Tesla was vandalized just after 11:30 a.m. Sunday on Northeast 59th Street. Lipari had parked one street away from a nearby event when his Tesla's Sentry Pro app sent him a push notification. "I started a free trial of an app called Sentry Pro, which gives you a push notification to your device if Sentry is activated," Lipari said. Video from the vehicle's security system shows a man approaching, pulling out what appears to be a box cutter, and dragging it across the car's front end twice. "The hood alone would cost around $1,200," Lipari said. After bringing the car to Tesla on Tuesday, he was told the repair cost could be even higher. "He told me normally what they do is they'll repair not only the hood where it's damaged, but also the two other panels here, to kind of blend all the colors in. That's what makes it more costly." The video also shows the man vandalizing a nearby truck in the same way. "It just makes me think he's done this before," Lipari said. Lipari filed a police report. So far, the incident is classified as criminal mischief under $1,000, but he wants it upgraded to a third-degree felony. "It's important that people are aware that this gentleman is walking around not only with a box cutter in his pocket but also that he's just randomly targeting vehicles — and who knows what else," Lipari said. Georgia Bulldogs OL arrested, faces felony charges
Georgia Bulldogs sophomore offensive lineman Jahzare Jackson was arrested on July 16 on four separate charges. Jackson was booked in Clarke County Jail at 11:50 p.m. ET and was released at 4:17 a.m. on July 17 after spending approximately 4 and 1/2 hours. Jackson faces three drug-related charges including possession of marijuana over one ounce, possession and use of drug-related objects, and possession of marijuana less than one ounce. Jackson was released from Clarke County Jail after posting a bond of $5,030. The vast majority of Jackson's bond ($5,000) is due to possession of marijuana over one ounce, which is a felony. Jackson was initially pulled over in his 2017 Tesla for holding a cell phone while driving (a misdemeanor in Georgia). The 6-foot-10, 350-pound offensive lineman is known for playing three years of basketball with Overtime Elite before coming to Georgia. He appeared in all 14 games last season for Georgia in primarily a special teams role. Jackson was named to the SEC's first-year academic honor roll. The University of Georgia did not comment following Jackson's arrest. Jackson's arrest came the night after coach Kirby Smart addressed the media at the 2025 SEC media days event.
