Reddit Fan Art Made 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' Relook Andrew Garfield And Tobey Maguire's Introduction
At the Mediterrane Film Festival 2025, Watts spoke to Collider's Steve Weintraub and revealed that when he saw fan-rendered concept art on Reddit, which coincided with his initial vision for the characters' introduction onscreen, he knew he had to rewrite the scene in order to blindside audiences.
Watts explained that he'd initially planned to have the two older Spider-Men step out from Doctor Strange's (Benedict Cumberbatch) portals to console Tom Holland's grieving Peter Parker. However, when Watts saw that the fan art depicted the exact same scene taking place on a rooftop, he knew that they could not proceed with the original plan.
Watts referenced American comedian, Buster Keaton, explaining that he trusted his audience to cleverly foresee certain storytelling beats, hence necessitating his move to upend their expectations and 'double-cross them', thereby fulfilling the hopes of fans in an unexpected twist. This led to the reveal eventually being in Ned Leeds' (Jacob Batalon) grandmother's house, which Watts knew would not be foreseen by fans. It also fit perfectly into the narrative, given that it would be the first time that the audiences were moved away from Peter's perspective in the film, adding more emotional depth to the scene.
It was this unfortunate fan art coincidence that was ultimately woven into a web of Watts' masterful design, delivering what many have considered to be the perfect end to the MCU's Spider-Man trilogy, giving not one, but three Spider-Men the fanfare they rightfully deserved.

In a recent panel interview, Jon Watts, director of 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home , revealed that Reddit fan art had led to him rewriting the pivotal introduction scene of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Men. Founding Xbox Member Says Company's Hardware Ambitions Are "Dead"
Laura Fryer, one of the original founding members of Xbox, has reflected on her time with the company and lamented its current roadmap, claiming that its hardware ambitions are 'dead'. In the latest video on her YouTube channel titled 'The Future of Xbox', Fryer spoke on her years at the company shipping the original 2001 Xbox console and 2005's Xbox 360, and reflected on Xbox's latest hardware collaboration, the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally gaming handheld, questioning the appeal of the device and what this means for the future of the company. 'There is literally no reason to buy this handheld,' she remarked, 'Obviously, as one of the founding members of the Xbox team, I'm not pleased with where things are today. I don't love watching all of the value that I helped create slowly get eroded away. I'm sad because, from my perspective, it looks like Xbox has no desire – or literally can't – ship hardware anymore.' 'So, this partnership is about a slow exit from the hardware business completely. Personally, I think Xbox hardware is dead.' Fryer then touched upon Xbox's current focus, its Game Pass subscription service, which provides gamers with an extensive library of titles for a monthly fee. Xbox has seemingly doubled down on this service, with recent big-name releases like Doom: The Dark Ages , Indiana Jones and the Great Circle , and even highly anticipated upcoming titles like Ninja Gaiden 4 or Wuchang: Fallen Feathers due out day one on Game Pass. 'Maybe it will work,' Fryer added, questioning what the company's long-term strategy is, 'Xbox has a deep portfolio… they can continue to outsource that work to external companies and make a lot of money releasing their older games – older games from an era when Xbox knew how to build them. But what is the long-term plan? Where are the new hits? What will make people care about the Xbox 25 years from now?' 'Next year marks the 25th anniversary of the Xbox, and I'm sure that they will have some big announcements and plans for honouring the milestone. Maybe next year is the year. Maybe next year is the year that the fog will clear, and all of us will see the beauty in these latest announcements. I guess we'll just have to wait and see…' And wait and see we shall, as the future of Xbox isn't looking too bright at the moment, with the company slowly losing console game exclusives in favour of moving to a multiplatform format, such as releasing its games on the Nintendo Switch 2, further reducing the appeal of buying an Xbox especially considering recent price hikes for its consoles and games. True to Fryer's words, Xbox seems to be focused on hardware collaborations at the moment rather than first-party devices, as apart from the ROG Xbox Ally, the company also recently released the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition VR headset, so it remains to be seen if this will be their strategy moving forward, or if Xbox is just biding time until the next major console announcement. Vin Diesel To Reunite Dom & Late Paul Walker's Brian In 'Fast & Furious' Finale Film
Vin Diesel has stunned audiences with the announcement that Brian O'Conner, the character played by the late Paul Walker, will return to the Fast & Furious franchise for its upcoming finale, Fast X: Part 2 . Fast Five (2011) Announced at FuelFest 2025 in Los Angeles, the action movie star made a surprise appearance to inform fans that he was bringing the franchise back to LA, with the movie now returning to the series' street racing roots. These were just two of the three non-negotiables Diesel raised in discussions with Universal Pictures executives for the final instalment's tentative release window in April 2027. Diesel then cryptically remarked that the final condition was the reunion between Brian O'Conner and his character, Dominic Toretto, drawing raucous cheers from the audience. Despite this, the announcement was met with mixed reactions from fans, with some excited for the return of the fan-favourite character, while others denounced the return of O'Conner given Walker's poignant send-off back in 2015's Furious 7 due to the actor's untimely demise in 2013. Furious 7 (2015) With no further news on how O'Conner could be returning to the silver screen, the feasibility of his resurrection remains to be seen. Furious 7 utilised CGI and Walker's brothers, Caleb and Cody, as physical stand-ins, while 2023's Fast X used actual footage of Walker as O'Conner during a flashback. Meanwhile, with mentions of O'Conner living out his family life in the Fast & Furious universe, even being seen pulling into the Toretto's driveway in his signature 1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R in 2021's F9 , the production team has clearly demonstrated the willingness to leave the door ajar for the character's inclusion. Furthermore, film director Louis Leterrier also stated during an interview with TotalFilm that 'the Walker family is still very much a part of this franchise… It just has to be the right moment, the right tone.' With much uncertainty on how they will bring back O'Conner, and in what capacity, fans can only wait and see how things will rev up when Fast X: Part 2 hits the road in April 2027.
