Nate Diaz plots UFC return, would like to 'f*cking whoop someone's ass there'
Could Nate Diaz seriously be plotting a UFC comeback? He's at least talking like he is.
Diaz (21-13 MMA, 16-11 UFC) amicably parted ways with the UFC after submitting Tony Ferguson in September 2022. He has since boxed Jake Paul and Jorge Masvidal, but is still interested in returning to the octagon.
"I plan on going back to UFC," Diaz said on "The HJR Podcast." "If they'll have me, I would like to go back and f*cking whoop someone's ass there. I'm not fighting at (155 pounds), though. Right now I'm not fighting in there because there's nobody to fight really. It's kind of slow rolling. I don't really have a name in mind right now in the UFC. That's why I'm not there right now."
Completing his trilogy bout with Conor McGregor is always an option for Diaz, but McGregor's future remains unclear. Diaz was the first to hand McGregor a loss in the UFC when he submitted him at UFC 196, but he lost the rematch by majority decision at UFC 202.
"Whenever he's back, I'm sure we're going to fight," Diaz said of McGregor. "Me and him for sure got unfinished (business). Got to happen."
Outside of McGregor, the Diaz-inspired BMF belt is also something of interest for the Stockton star. Diaz lost to Masvidal for the inaugural BMF title by doctor's stoppage TKO at UFC 244, and the belt has since changed hands a couple of times. Max Holloway (26-8 MMA, 22-8 UFC) is the current BMF champion, and he defends his belt against Dustin Poirier in the UFC 318 headliner July 19.
"Those are the guys right there who I would want to fight, like Max Holloway" Diaz said of BMF champions. "I would like to fight the other guy who's really good too, Topuria. He's really good, but he's smaller than me. I'm done with 155. I'm cool off that. It always was (a hard weight cut). When I was 18, it was hard. I'm staying at '70. I'll fight at 185, too."

Neil Magny vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos prediction, pick, start time for UFC on ESPN 71
Neil Magny and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos meet Saturday on the main card of UFC on ESPN 71 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom. Last event: 2-3 UFC main cards, 2025: 72-56-1 Neil Magny vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos UFC on ESPN 71 preview Magny (29-13 MMA, 22-12 UFC) will aim to avoid dropping three straight for the first time in his career. Magny was finished in the first round in back-to-back fights against Michael Morales and Carlos Prates. The last win for Magny came at UFC 297, a third-round comeback stoppage against Mike Malott. ... Dos Santos (25-9-1 MMA, 11-5-1 UFC) is also entering on the heels of a loss – a second-round stoppage to Chidi Njokuani. Prior to that setback in March, dos Santos finished Zach Scroggin just 75 seconds into their November fight. Neil Magny vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos UFC on ESPN 71 expert pick, prediction Serving as a solid offering of two "old heads" is a welterweight clash between Neil Magny and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos. I'm a fan of both fighters, but there's no denying that we're looking at two post-prime products given their recent form. It's hard to tell who is more shot at this point in their careers, and there are good cases to be made for either side, regardless. I came incredibly close to changing my pick to Magny given how the smaller octagon will likely assist his style, but it's hard to discount the underrated wrestling and grappling of dos Santos. I'm not sure we get a classic performance from either fighter, so I'll semi-reluctantly side with dos Santos to win on the scorecards for being the more offensively potent competitor in pockets. Neil Magny vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos UFC on ESPN 71 odds The oddsmakers and the public are favoring the Brazilian fighter, listing dos Santos (-194) and Magny (+156) via FanDuel. Neil Magny vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos UFC on ESPN 71 start time, how to watch Magny and dos Santos are expected to walk to the cage at approximately 9:40 p.m. ET. The fight broadcasts live on ESPN and streams on ESPN+.

Danny Silva vs. Kevin Vallejos prediction, pick, start time for UFC on ESPN 71
Danny Silva and Kevin Vallejos meet Saturday in the main card opener of UFC on ESPN 71 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom. Last event: 2-3 UFC main cards, 2025: 72-56-1 Danny Silva vs. Kevin Vallejos UFC on ESPN 71 preview Silva (10-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) will look to extend his four-fight winning streak while remaining undefeated in the UFC. The Dana White's Contender Series veteran has won both of his UFC fights, both by split decision over Josh Culibao and Lucas Almeida. ... Vallejos (15-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) shares some similarities to Silva. He is also a DWCS veteran riding a four-fight streak. Vallejos has one less fight under the UFC banner, though. His debut came in March, and didn't last long as he finished Seung Woo Choi in just over three minutes. Danny Silva vs. Kevin Vallejos UFC on ESPN 71 expert pick, prediction Kicking off the main card in appropriate fashion is a featherweight action fight between Danny Silva and Kevin Vallejos. Silva trains under UFC veteran Cub Swanson and is a well-rounded fighter who primarily likes to figure things out on the feet. However, considering the boxing acumen of his current counterpart, I'll be curious to see if Silva looks to mix in more takedowns this Saturday. Although there's not a huge sample size of Vallejos grappling against UFC-level fighters, the Argentinian has shown no shortage of ideas when it comes to counter wrestling or scrambling so far in his short career. I don't know if I agree with the betting odds next to his name, but I can understand the hype on Vallejos when looking at how he transitions through offense on the feet. It should be a competitive fight from the jump, but I'll take Vallejos to pull away down the stretch by successfully extending exchanges and working Silva's body en route to a clear win on the scorecards. Danny Silva vs. Kevin Vallejos UFC on ESPN 71 odds The oddsmakers and the public are heavily favoring the Argentinian fighter, listing Vallejos (-430) and Silva (+320) via FanDuel. Danny Silva vs. Kevin Vallejos UFC on ESPN 71 start time, how to watch As the main card opener, Silva and Vallejos are expected to walk to the cage at approximately 9:10 p.m. ET. The fight broadcasts live on ESPN and streams on ESPN+.
