Strictly's Rachel Riley takes drastic action before TV show where 'anything can happen'
Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Rachel Riley has confessed that she "wrote my will" prior to participating in a new reality TV programme which involves celebrities plunging into shark-infested waters.
The 39 year old Countdown host joins a star-studded cast including Sir Lenny Henry, McFly's Dougie Poynter, actress Lucy Punch and Call the Midwife's Helen George in Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters, set to broadcast on ITV on Monday, July 14.
Rachel revealed that her trip to the Bahamas prompted her to ensure "everything is signed".
Speaking to the Daily Mail, she said: "I wrote my will before we went. This trip made me want to make sure everything was signed, just in case. They're wild animals. You're scuba diving. Anything can happen," reports Devon Live.
The Countdown maths genius has two children with her husband Pasha Kovalev. The couple first met when they were partnered on Strictly in 2013, and were the fifth pair to be eliminated.

Their daughters Noa and Maven are only three and five years old respectively. Rachel admitted that she didn't inform her children about what she was going to do because she didn't want to frighten them.
The airing of the show has been timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Steven Spielberg's iconic Jaws film, which premiered on June 20, 1975.
At the time of its release, the film was the highest grossing movie in history and was considered a landmark moment in cinema due to its music and editing.
The series' synopsis describes how celebrities "first-hand experiences will provide immeasurable excitement and new perspective; they'll come to appreciate sharks' valuable place on the food chain and in our ecosystem, recognising that a world devoid of these notoriously terrifying creatures is downright frightening".
Rachel confesses to being quite trusting and believes the TV producers wouldn't have put the contestants in harm's way.

She shared with the Mail: "I've got quite a rational brain so the way there I was thinking: 'How can they get insurance for this unless it's safe? How bad could it be?'
"Also, I'm quite trusting. But then Paul, who's been through the worst thing that could possibly happen, was like: 'No, don't be complacent, these are real sharks.' The killer instinct was never far from the surface."
Paul de Gelder, a former Navy diver, lost a limb in a shark attack in Sydney Harbour, Australia. He has since become an advocate for shark conservation.
Rachel's television career took off when she secured the role as Carol Vorderman's replacement on Countdown in 2009, beating out 1,000 applicants. She also hosts the comedy spin-off, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

Coronation Street fans gobsmacked as they realise two stars are mother and son
Coronation Street has seen a number of real-life family members appear on the cobbles over the years - but fans were left stunned after realising two stars are mother and son Two stars of Coronation Street share more than just their ability to captivate audiences. Over the years, the ITV soap has welcomed several real-life family members onto its iconic cobbles. Real-life siblings, cousins, and even parents and their children have all graced the set. Cousins Brooke Vincent and Ellie Leach have made a name for themselves on the soap, while the late Rick Neelan (Greg Wood) was actually the real-life brother of footballer Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn). But they're not the only ones with familial ties both on and off screen. Fans have recently been taken aback by one mother and son duo that appeared on the soap years ago. Back in 1985, Sue Jenkins joined the ITV soap as Gloria Todd. She became a regular face on the show as a barmaid at the legendary Rovers Return, reports the Daily Star. Sue also worked alongside Julie Goodyear who famously played landlady Bet Lynch. In addition to her Corrie role, Sue portrayed Jackie Corkhill in Brookside for nine years between 1992 and 2001. She also had a brief stint in Emmerdale in 2008, appearing in five episodes as Bonnie Drinkwater. However, it turns out she has a very famous son who also made an appearance on Corrie. In reality, Sue's son is Richard Fleeshman - who played Craig Harris. Richard joined the cast of Coronation Street back in 2002 with his TV family, the Harrises, who were hiding due to the witness protection programme. His character Craig certainly had some memorable moments. He adopted a goth persona, much to his father's dismay, and became Rosie Webster's (portrayed by Helen Flanagan) first boyfriend. The drama escalated when Katy Harris, Craig's sister, murdered their father following a heated argument about her clandestine relationship with Martin Platt. Their mother, Angela Harris, attempted to shield Katy, but overwhelmed by guilt, Katy took her own life. In the aftermath, Craig planned to flee to Berlin with Rosie, but ultimately departed alone, bidding farewell to the cobbles in 2006 for good. The revelation of Sue and Richard's Corrie connection left fans online astounded. On X, previously known as Twitter, one viewer posted about Sue's stint on Corrie. Another fan responded: "That's Richard fleeshmans mum!". Another added: "Her real life son played Craig Harris, son of Psycho Tommy!".

Rod Stewart 'noticing change' in wife Penny Lancaster after career move
Rod Stewart has shared his thoughts on his wife Penny Lancaster's career change as she became a special police constable a few years ago - and he's noticed a change in her Sir Rod Stewart has revealed that his wife Penny Lancaster has become more assertive since trading in her glitzy lifestyle for a uniform, having completed her training as a special police constable in 2021. Penny, who at 54 swapped the runway for policing duties, including prestigious occurrences such as the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III's Coronation day, has seemingly taken her new role in her stride. In a candid chat with The Times, the beloved singer of Maggie May voiced his observations about Penny's professional pivot. With a hint of amusement, Sir Rod said: "I have noticed she's got more bossy since she's been a copper." He continued: "The kids have noticed, we've all noticed. She seems to think she knows everything now," reports the Express. Penny previously discussed how her switch in careers was initially met by scepticism from Rod and their sons. Recounting her family's initial reaction, she disclosed to The Times: "When I first told them the idea of joining, they thought I was absolutely mad. "And also, being young lads, my sons didn't think it was cool. But now they're so proud. It's a complete turnaround." She believed their opinions shifted after witnessing the transformation in her character, influenced by her policing experiences. Penny recounted: "To begin with they were like: 'Mum, you've become stricter. I don't like this'." Rod himself echoed the sentiment: "And even Rod would say: 'You've changed. You're more forceful, you're more this, you're more that'." Despite any initial doubts, according to Penny, Rod's support has been unwavering in her pursuit of law enforcement. "He's seen the dedication I have with the force and what it gives me back, as well as what I can give them," she revealed on Loose Women. Unfortunately, last year, Penny faced a setback in her role when a knee injury forced her to switch from frontline duties to desk work. The mum-of-two suffered a torn meniscus in her right knee during a trip abroad. Speaking about her career shift on the We're Not Getting Any Younger podcast last month, Penny delved into her experiences making arrests. She divulged: "I've been doing it for four years now so he's kind of got used to it and he's met a lot of my colleagues and he respects the amount of training I've done. "I have [arrested people], two people, for drink driving and drug driving. Every accident you have to test for drink and drugs. It is an adrenaline rush...I wasn't arresting on live TV." Don't miss Penny on Tipping Point: Lucky Stars today at 4.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
