Land Public Transport Agency revokes lorry firm's licence over Teluk Intan crash that killed nine FRU personnel

Malay Mail30-05-2025
PUTRAJAYA, May 30 — The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) has revoked the licence of the operator of the stone-laden lorry company involved in an accident that claimed the lives of nine Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel on Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam, Teluk Intan, on May 13.
The revocation of Tashveen Trading's operator license is effective May 29, 2025.
'With the revocation of the operator's license, the company is not permitted to operate or provide any services using any vehicles licensed under that operator's license,' APAD stated in a press release today.
APAD's investigation also found that the company failed to comply with the Industrial Code of Practice (ICOP) safety requirements, failed to ensure the Global Positioning System (GPS) was functional and had expired, was carrying loads that violated the type of goods specified in the vehicle's permit, and did not prioritize the safety of other road users.
APAD wants to emphasize its stance that it will never compromise on any dangerous driving offences by public land transport vehicles that cause accidents and can threaten the safety of road users.
'APAD also wishes to advise all licensed operators to comply with the license conditions set from time to time to avoid undesirable incidents, which could then lead to license revocation,' APAD said.
In the incident at 8.50am on May 13, an FRU lorry carrying 18 personnel from Unit 5, based in Sungai Senam, Ipoh, was involved in a collision with a stone-laden lorry while on its way back after completing duties for the Chitrapournami celebration in Teluk Intan. The accident also resulted in two serious injuries and seven other injuries. — Bernama

(Rawpixel pic) PETALING JAYA : A school teacher was arrested after he was alleged to have molested a 16-year-old female student with an intellectual disability in Rembau on May 5. Rembau police chief Hasani Hussain said the student, who is enrolled in the Integrated Special Education Programme (PPKI), lodged a report at 5.15pm yesterday, alleging she was molested by the 36-year-old male teacher, Bernama reported. Hasani added that the incident is believed to have occurred after the student had completed a cross-country run and was experiencing some pain in her leg. 'According to the student, the teacher massaged her legs, starting from the soles of her feet to her calves and then to her thighs. 'At this point, she said she felt the teacher had touched a sensitive area,' Hasani said in a statement today. He said the student initially confided in a friend and later informed another teacher about the incident on June 30. Hasani said police detained the suspect at around 10pm last night, adding that the man denied the allegations. 'The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017,' he said.

I'll think about it, says KJ after Akmal offers to help with Umno return

Khairy Jamaluddin (left) said he will consider Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh's offer to help facilitate his return to Umno. KUALA LUMPUR : Khairy Jamaluddin has responded coolly to Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh's offer to help facilitate his return to the party. 'That's very nice of him,' he said briefly to reporters when met at a product launch event today. 'I'm thankful for his comments and support, and I'll certainly consider it.' Yesterday, Akmal said he was open to facilitating the return of suspended and sacked Umno leaders such as Khairy, Hishammuddin Hussein and Shahril Hamdan. 'Those who were disciplined had contributed in ways we cannot forget. That's why I say unity in Umno is crucial, and that unity cannot come from just one side,' he was quoted as saying. Akmal also said those who had been suspended or sacked must set aside their egos if they truly cared about the party. Khairy, himself a former Umno Youth chief and ex-Rembau MP and health minister, was sacked from Umno in January 2023 over alleged disciplinary breaches. The Sembrong Umno division has also passed a resolution urging the party leadership to lift the suspension of Hishammuddin. However, the former Umno vice-president has hinted that he will not appeal his suspension as he had not been officially informed of his wrongdoing.
