This Bills team is very good, and many around the league see them as a true title threat. But the team is currently dealing with an ongoing situation with star running back James Cook.
Cook is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and he wants an extension from Buffalo. However, the two sides haven't been remotely close on a new deal, and it has led to a lot of frustration from Cook's side.
Due to this, there has been a lot of speculation around his future with the team. During a recent edition of "The Adam Schefter Podcast," the NFL insider shared an unfortunate update on the situation.
"You've got a guy who's unhappy with his contractual situation," Schefter said. "(He) has basically disconnected himself from the organization and the city, put his house up for sale...I don't think we'll be seeing him in Buffalo anytime soon. Again, the start of training camp will be the next critical moment. If they don't have a deal done there or by then, does James Cook show up for training camp? Does he risk the penalties that come along in the collective bargaining agreement if he doesn't show up?"

If Cook comes to training camp, there is a chance he could play out the year and then earn a contract. It could be similar to how star wide-out Tee Higgins handled things with the Cincinnati Bengals last year.
But if he doesn't show up, the Bills may need to look elsewhere for the season. Cook was crucial to the Bulls' offensive attack last season, so losing him would be a major hit to Buffalo.
However, he wants a new deal and seems to be dead set on making it happen. Buffalo may need to trade him if things don't get settled to avoid any distractions around the rest of the team.
Last season, the running back rushed for 1,009 yards and 16 touchdowns. Cook also caught 32 passes for 258 yards and two scores.

The U.S. men's national soccer team has won all three of its Concacaf Gold Cup matches so far, but the knockout stage will present an entirely different challenge for Mauricio Pochettino's squad. Will ghosts of recent tournaments past haunt the USMNT? The U.S. crashed out of the 2024 Copa América in the group stage, then lost in the Concacaf Nations League semifinals to Panama. On Sunday, June 29, the USMNT faces Costa Rica in a Concacaf Gold Cup quarterfinal, looking to build some momentum heading into next year's World Cup. Those absences have created an opportunity for others to step up. Attacking midfielder Malik Tillman now seems like a lock to make the USMNT World Cup team next year. Forward Patrick Agyemang is a matchup conundrum for opposing defenders. Defender Alex Freeman, son of former NFL wide receiver Antonio Freeman, might have played his way into the conversation, too. Browns Cornerback Unhappy With Role in 2024
Browns Cornerback Unhappy With Role in 2024 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cleveland Browns' season didn't go as planned last year as the team suffered injuries to key players while entire position groups seemed to underperform. Advertisement A 3-14 mark and last-place finish in the AFC North opened the way for a successful draft, and hopefully, a turnaround season in 2025. But one Browns player wasn't happy with the way he was used last season, and it raises some eyebrows on the defensive side of the ball. 'It's been an interesting kind of relationship with Greg and sort of his role,' explained Orange and Brown Talk host Dan Labbe on a recent podcast. 'Last year was the first year ... he's been their slot guy for a few years, but last year it was really kind of the first year where, when they did have two corners on the field, he wasn't one of them.' Newsome would like a larger role in the defense in 2025, or play somewhere else, as Mary Kay Cabot of reported. Advertisement 'When I talked to Greg Newsome at the Super Bowl on Radio Row back in January or early February, he talked about the fact that he wants to be used more. He was primarily the nickel back last year. He wants to be on the field more often,' Cabot reported on the Orange and Brown Talk podcast. 'More tellingly, Newsome actually point blank said, 'You know, I need to know some things before I want to sign a long-term contract here.'" Newsome started 11 games in 2021, 15 games in 2022, 13 games in 2023, but just three in 2024. 'No Worry' Over Browns' 2nd-Round Pick's Lack of Signed Contract
'No Worry' Over Browns' 2nd-Round Pick's Lack of Signed Contract originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cleveland Browns are set to find their franchise quarterback this offseason with four options in camp. Advertisement The battle between two veterans in Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett and two rookie draft picks, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders, will take center stage this summer, into training camp and the preseason. While the quarterbacks are figuring things out, the running backs room is doing the same. Out is Nick Chubb after seven seasons in Cleveland, and one of the possibilities of a replacement is former Ohio State Buckeyes running back and Browns' second-round pick, Quinshon Judkins. While Judkins has participated in all offseason activities thus far, he's without a signed contract for one reason or the other. And he's not the only one in the league going through the same situation. Advertisement Former NFL safety Tyvis Powell discussed this on the "Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show" recently. "Must be some language in there that he wants cleared up," Powell said. "That's the only thing I can think of because it ain't negotiating money. That's Slotted, you can't negotiate that. Quinshon's ready to play. He's out there every day practicing and doing everything he's supposed to do, even without a contract. At the end of the day, it's gonna get done. I'm not worried about it." With the departure of Chubb, the Browns needed a replacement, and they found one just down the road in Columbus. The combination of Judkins and Jerome Ford could be a potent 1-2 punch in the running game for Cleveland, as long as they can figure out Judkins' contract situation.
