Ranvir Singh's drink spiking horror as she says 'everything started to swim'

Daily Mirror01-07-2025
Good Morning Britain presenter Ranvir Singh opened up about the terrifying moment her drink was spiked and how she 'couldn't remember getting home'
Good Morning Britain's Ranvir Singh bravely shared her harrowing experience of having her drink spiked during a night out, leaving her with no memory of getting home.
On the July 1 episode of the popular ITV breakfast programme, presenters Susanna Reid and Ed Balls welcomed guests Rachel Ovens, a drink spiking victim in 2022, and campaigner and DJ Ashley James.

Rachel recounted the frightening ordeal of feeling vulnerable after her drink was tampered with at a seemingly safe local pub gathering with mates.

She had felt secure drinking with friends, but her sense of safety was shattered when she suspected someone slipped something into her drink, resulting in disorientation and numbness in her lower body.
Ranvir seized the moment to share her own chilling encounter with drink spiking, which occurred years earlier while she was still working in Manchester before moving to London, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Recounting the incident, she said: "It happened to me, it was years ago when I was still working in Manchester before I came to London."
She added: "It was about 7.30 in the evening and it was my first drink. I had gone to the bar and I was waiting, I think it was a work thing. I can't remember why I was there but no one else had arrived.
"I had arrived early and I went to the bar and ordered one glass of wine as you would do. I probably drank half of it and I thought I'm just going to nip to the loo before everyone arrives.

"And before I had even got to the loo everything had just started to swim."
The presenter recounted a horrifying experience, saying: "I remember feeling my legs go when I went downstairs.

"And by the time I came upstairs, I sort of managed to get myself up, I couldn't hear anything, my hearing had gone.
"I just remember coming up the stairs and looking down the bar thinking I can't go back there and I just left. I can't remember what happened that evening, I can't even remember getting home."
Susanna probed: "Did you report it?" To which Ranvir confessed: "I didn't. This was probably about 12/13 years ago so it didn't occur to me to report it.
"But interestingly we've just been talking about it and my female producer who is just in the gallery said that 'it also happened to me' It's amazing how common it is."

Chelcee then added clips of of Rachel in a hoodie with no makeup and another video of her at a pottery class in a sweatshirt. She joked that that was her "second girlfriend." The footballer quipped: "Not sure which one I prefer, what do you think?!" with a laughing face emoji. Rachel appears to work in the art world and spend most of her time in Dubai. She posted a sweet post of them earlier this month looking cosy while out for dinner and in the back of a taxi. Chelcee simply posted a red love heart emoji in the comment section. Rachel bares a similar resemblance to Chelcee's ex model pal and Real Housewives of Cheshire star Christine, 37. Chelcee appeared to brand Christine "fake" after the pair fell out, despite their previously close friendship. It's been revealed how Christine got "incredibly close" to footballer Chelcee before splitting from husband Paddy, 51, in 2022. Despite their once tight bond, the two women are thought to have "little to no contact" these days. Christine McGuinness gives update on relationship with Paddy after soap star fling They suddenly unfollowed each other on social media in 2023. And last year Chelcee teased a new romance on Instagram before liking a damning comment about Christine. It read "Christine is fake as they come, Chelcee deserved so much better. "Christine can keep trying to get attention and fake a new romance." The former pals met while taking part in ITV's The Games in 2022 - months before Christine and Paddy announced their shock split. Last year Christine revealed she is currently celibate - but Chelcee, who also previously abstained from sex, blasted her for "copying" her. Writing on Instagram she said of Christine: "Honestly just gotta laugh at this point. Copies everything I do." Christine recently opened up about having relationships with both men and women. Speaking on the How To Fail podcast, Christine said: "It shouldn't matter somebody's gender. "It never mattered to me, which was why once me and my ex-husband were separated and I met people, I didn't properly date. 'It was more like blurred the lines of friendships for me, that was normal. "It felt comfortable because I'd done that as a teenager and I, as a teenager, I dated both men and women." Last month Christine, who shares twins Leo and Penelope, eight, and 11-year-old Felicity with Paddy, made the decision to quit Celebs Go Dating after flying to Ibiza for filming. 5 The footballer looked loved-up with new girlfriend Rachel Credit: Instagram

Furious This Morning viewers rage 'she shouldn't be glorified!' as Peru Two drug mule Michaela McCollum recounts time on Celebrity SAS - blasting ITV for 'promoting criminality'

Furious This Morning fans raged 'she shouldn't be glorified!' as Peru Two drug mule Michaela McCollum recounted her time on Celebrity SAS while on Friday's instalment of the ITV show. The 31-year-old, who served three years in a hardcore prison near Lima when she was convicted of drug smuggling back in 2016 when she was just 19, is due to appear on our screens very soon as part of the upcoming series of the Channel 4 show. Michaela appeared on This Morning to talk about what it was like taking part in the challenging programme, which is run by Billy Billingham, Jason Fox, Rudy Reyes and Chris Oliver. But viewers watching at home blasted the channel for 'promoting criminality' and many rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts. 'Literally promoting criminality it would seem #ThisMorning.' 'She shouldn't be glorified at all.' The 31-year-old is due to appear on our screens very soon as part of the upcoming series of the Channel 4 show 'I give up on this nation.' 'Why has she joined the 'so called' celebrity sas? 'Money Attention What else? Another person who's trying to be a 'celeb' that are paying to talk to! Seriously guys how low will you go in the barrel for cheap ratings?' 'FFS, a drug mule celebrity, what is with this country's obsession with promoting the stupid and evil people in society?' 'So crime doesn't pay?' '#ThisMorning This guest isn't a 'celebrity'. She's a convicted drug smuggler and should be given any sort of publicity!!!' 'She'll be presenting #thismorning next.' 'So you get done for smuggling drugs like Michaella Mccollum and that somehow now makes you a Celebrity? #ThisMorning What the f*** is she famous for other than being a criminal? #SASWhoDaresWins in what way is she a celebrity?' Michaella McCollum and Melissa Reid were 20 when they became friends holidaying in Ibiza back in August 2013. They were soon coerced into sneaking £1.5million worth of cocaine into Peru. They were arrested when they got off the plane in Lima, convicted of drug smuggling and sentenced to six years and eight months in the hardcore Ancon 2 prison - though they were released in 2016. Michaela has since become a mum and is a public influencer and speaker. Dermot was interested to know her thought process behind agreeing to take part in the show. He asked: 'To go back into something in the public eye, means you're going to open up a level of scrutiny and opinion. 'Did that come into your head? Michaela: 'Not really because I know that it is always going to exist. 'Any kind of decisions that I make are scrutinised so I thought whether I do the show, there will be some kind of talk about that.' When asked what it was like in prison, Michaela revealed: 'It was extreme. I was incredibly adaptable. I just got along with it. 'I think for the first part, I felt so guilty and bad and thought I deserve it. 'I'll suck it up. But I feel like it made me an amazing person. I came back when I was 23.' Olivia mentioned the backlash that she has received and asked Jason Fox, who was sitting on the sofa next to her, if it was necessary. Jason said: 'There is always going to be backlash. I personally don't think it's warranted. 'There's a reason people go to prison, pay their penance, when it's, done it's done. 'Why not give people the opportunity to see if they can move forward. Obviously other people have different opinions, that's up to them.' Michaela added: 'I am so pulled back from all of that, I don't expose myself to that. 'But I know it exists. I know people are always going to say that no matter what I do. 'I very much have stayed out of the public eye, went to university, had a normal career. I've had my normal life. 'If things pop up, like the likes of this show, I'm going to do that, I think its an amazing experience of life. 'It's going to happen whatever I do. It's going to exist.' The likes of Adebayo 'The Beast' Akinfenwa, 43, Troy Deeney, 35, Conor Benn, 27, Louie Spence, 55, Tasha Ghouri, 25, Harry Clark, 23, Hannah Spearritt, 43, Rebecca Loos, 46, Bimini, 31, Lady Leshurr, 36, Lucy Spraggan, 32, and Adam Collard, 28, will also be starring in the upcoming series of Celebrity SAS.
