Netflix actor 'furious' after being confronted for biting co-star

Metro24-06-2025
A Cobra Kai actor has been accused of assaulting one of his co-stars by biting her.
Martin Kove, best known for playing the villain John Kreese in the original The Karate Kid movie and its sequels, reprised his role for the reboot series, which ran from 2018 until earlier this year.
However, a few days ago he was 'escorted out' of a fan event after grabbing his co-star Alicia Hannah-Kim and 'biting' her.
Alicia, 37, joined the show as Kim Da-Eun for the fifth and sixth seasons.
After the alleged incident on Sunday, she went to police, with a report detailing what was said to have unfolded.

The document, reviewed by Entertainment Weekly, stated that Alicia and Martin both appeared at the Washington State Summer Con in Puyallup.
When she stopped to greet the 77-year-old, she told police he grabbed and bit her.
'I walked past Martin Kove, tapped him on the shoulder and said hello and he turned around grabbed my arm and BIT DOWN HARD almost drawing blood,' she shared in a handwritten statement to police.
'I yelped and drew back and then he grabbed my arm again to kiss it.'
The actress said she then went to her table and told her handler as well as her husband, Sebastian Roche, an actor who most recently appeared in the Yellowstone prequel series 1923.
'I had visible teeth marks and immediate bruising and pain,' she said in her statement.
'We approached Martin in the green room later (30 mins) and he was furious and outraged and visibly angry when I told him calmly not to bite me. He insisted he bit me for fun.'
After Kove failed to take her concerns seriously, Alicia and her husband approached an officer at the event to 'resolve the situation'.
When questioned by police, Kove said he was 'messing around', but was told by an officer what he'd done was illegal.
Soon after he 'admitted to biting Alicia's arm'.
The report explained: '[Kove] said he did it out of jest and he thought he was being funny, and they play fight all the time on the set of Cobra Kai, and he did not think it was a big deal.'
Police then wrote in the report that Kove went on to apologise to his co-star, who chose not to press charges.
She did however file a report, while her injury was documented 'in case of future incidents'.
Kove was then escorted out of the event.
The actor initially joined the franchise in the original 1984 movie The Karate Kid, returning for its 1986 and 1989 sequels, The Karate Kid Part II and The Karate Kid Part III. More Trending
He then reprised his role 34 years later when Cobra Kai was released.
Meanwhile Alicia, who has also appeared on Grey's Anatomy, Hawaii Five-O and Minx, played Kim Da-Eun, a South Korean sensei who is also the granddaughter of Kim Sun-Yung, the master who initially taught Kove's character when he was a child.
Metro has contacted Netflix and representatives for Martin Kove and Alicia Hannah-Kim for comment.

Netflix director working on 'boundary-pushing' movie after film seen 185m times

The director of one of Netflix's most watched films ever has landed a deal with the streaming platform and is already working on the follow-up movie. Jaume Collet-Serra, 51, has signed a rare overall agreement with Netflix after his 2024 action thriller Carry-On – which starred Jason Bateman and Taron Egerton – became Netflix's second highest viewed film of all time. Variety reports it has managed a staggering 185million views, while Netflix's own charts on Tudum – which track a title's performance during its first 91 days – claimed 172.1m. The director told the publication: 'From production to release, my experience making Carry-On with the Netflix team was everything a filmmaker could hope for. 'I'm thrilled to call Netflix my creative home and excited to keep pushing boundaries together, beginning with An Innocent Girl.' Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. The upcoming psychological thriller will have Collet-Serra at the helm as director and producer, alongside Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video While Collet-Serra has been helming movies successfully for 20 years, from slasher flick House of Wax to Disney blockbuster Jungle Cruise, based on the company's theme park ride, with Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, this deal could be what propels him to household name status. An Innocent Girl follows a young and ambitious woman who gets seduced by a high powered couple in Washington DC as she gets pulled into a dangerous world of power, sex and murder. No cast has yet been announced. Netflix film vice president Doug Belgrad praised Collet-Serra as 'one of the most in-demand directors out there right now' as well as his ability to 'deliver big, high-stakes stories that audiences love'. 'The fact that he chose to make this deal with us, especially after the great experience we had together on Carry-On, says a lot,' Belgrad added. 'He's never been hotter, and we look forward to keeping that momentum going with him.' According to Deadline, the filmmaker – who is also working on survival thriller Play Dead – has another project lined up, potetially for his Netflix deal. As well as An Innocent Girl, his slate includes a reimagining of 1993 mountain rescue action movie Cliffhanger, which starred Sylvester Stallone alongside John Lithgow, Michael Rooker and Janine Turner. The new version will star Lily James and Pierce Brosnan. Fans shouldn't necessarily expect a Carry-On sequel as part of the Netflix agreement though, after he revealed in January that a follow-up to the airport action thriller was 'not in the cards' at the time. However, he did tell Variety: 'I would like to definitely make another one. 'When we started with the movie, it certainly felt like one unique story in a moment in time with a set of characters. 'If an idea comes to us that feels like we can do something that is as original as the first one, and that can connect with the audience in the same way, then we'll explore that.' He was speaking after Carry-On became a streaming smash-hit over Christmas, dominating viewing figures to become the most watched movie title of 2024 in just a matter of weeks after its release on December 13. It then leap-frogged films such as Millie Bobby Brown's Damsel and 2021 star-studded satire Don't Look Up, with Meryl Streep and Leonardo DiCaprio, to claim second place on the all-time watchlist, behind comedy thriller Red Notice, starring Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot. More Trending Carry-On centred around young TSA officer Ethan Kopek (Egerton) who gets blackmailed by the mysterious Traveller (Bateman) into letting a nerve agent onboard a Christmas Eve flight carrying 250 people. Previously, Collet-Serra has also directed the likes of Orphan, Liam Neeson in The Commuter and Black Adam, with his most recent release earlier this year being psychological horror flick The Woman in the Yard. Carry-On is streaming on Netflix now. Got a story? World's most famous hippo has her own birthday festival and a £3,300 cake

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Thailand's rosy-cheeked and chubby celebrity hippopotamus is turning one year old today – and the zoo is going all out for her first year. Pygmy hippo Moo-Deng, a name which translates to 'bouncy pork', was dubbed an 'icon' and 'legend' by Time Magazine by the time she was two months old, and has amassed millions of followers. She lives in Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi, Thailand, and gained fame for her sassy antics, including biting her keepers and making unforgettable faces. Thousands of people are now coming to the zoo for a four-day festival to celebrate the little hippo's big day. Activities at the festival include a lecture on 'Moo Deng's cheekiness', and skincare tips (Miss Moo sparked a beauty craze last year thanks to her glow). There's also an auction for some of her belongings – whatever those might be – and a massive £3,300 fruit cake will be presented to her as a gift. One of Moo Deng's keepers, Attaphol Nundee, said: 'Moo Deng used to be very naughty and jumped around all the time. Now she only eats and sleeps.' Though the internet icon's popularity has slowed a bit as she grew, she still has a devoted fan base and her own line of merchandise. But her popularity has helped raise awareness of her species, which is listed as endangered. Estimates from the Pygmy Hippo Foundation suggest there are currently no more than 2,000 living in the wild. Attaphon added: 'I hope that the cuteness of Moo-Deng will raise awareness for people to come and learn about the species.' The adorable hippo has siblings also named after pork – Moo Wan, which means Thai sweet pork; Pha Lor, which means pork belly stew; and Moo Tun, which means stewed pork. If you're unable to celebrate Moo Deng's first birthday with her in Thailand, you can find a pygmy hippo closer to home. Edinburgh Zoo hippos Gloria and Otto welcomed wee Haggis last October, with staff saying she would be a little 'ambassador' for her species. Haggis has a bit of a personality as well – her keepers previously told Metro she was feisty and fun. More Trending Metro spoke to Penny Jack, a hoofstock keeper who works with Haggis, about how the zoo will celebrate the baby hippo's first Christmas. Hoofstock workers help with animals including giraffes, hippos, rhinos, zebras, antelopes and other hoofed species. Jack said: 'She's definitely feisty enough – she takes after her mum – but Otto is a chill dad. He usually lies down and keeps himself comfy. 'The girls will join him if they're in the mood to, otherwise Gloria tells him that she needs space so he'll leave her and the baby to it.' Full list of Coronation Street cast returns and exits coming in 2025

Changes are currently taking place at Coronation Street, and there's a lot going on. There's been plenty of exits this year already – from Max Turner (Paddy Bever), who is now serving a six-year prison sentence, and Yasmeen Metcalfe (Shelley King) who left for a new life in London. Let's not forget Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) who also bid farewell to the cobbles earlier this month. We've also been introduced to Kevin and Debbie Webster's (Michael Le Vell and Sue Devaney) estranged brother Carl (Jonathan Howard). However, there are still plenty more changes ahead as we prepare to say goodbye to some beloved characters, as well as welcoming some familiar faces home. Here's the lowdown on who's returning and who's leaving… Fans rejoiced when news broke that Eva Price is set to return to Coronation Street, with Catherine Tyldesley reprising her role on a full-time basis. The character was last on our screens in 2018, when she departed Weatherfield with daughter Susie, following Aidan Connor's devastating suicide. Her storyline is set to be an 'unmissable' one, with Cath set to start filming in the Summer. But will Eva have Susie by her side, and what will that mean for Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor)? When is Eva Price returning to Coronation Street? Autumn 2025. Amy Robbins will return to Coronation Street later this year, and her villainous alter-ego won't have changed her ways! In her most recent stint, Christina has teamed up with daughter Daisy to enact a vicious plot on Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) – setting up a fake dating profile in the hope Jenny will give her savings to her new lover, while they'd secretly reap the benefits. Despite Christina's exit this week, she will come back to Weatherfield soon. When is Christina Boyd returning to Coronation Street? Currently unknown Bethany Platt is set to return to the cobbles later this year as actress Lucy Fallon returns from maternity leave. Bethany left the cobbles for a new job opportunity in London earlier this year, but she will be back before we know it, with Lucy already filming again. She posted a selfie from her dressing room to Instagram, exciting fans ahead of the character's return. 'And just like that she's back,' the star wrote. In April, a Coronation Street spokesperson confirmed to Metro that 'Lucy will be returning to filming in the summer after maternity leave, as always planned', and that 'Bethany will be back on screen in October'. When is Bethany Platt returning to Coronation Street? October 2025. Although she's only just left the show, executive producer Iain MacLeod has already teased a return for Gail. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'Helen and I have had a conversation where she's said, 'There might be times in my future where I'll come back',' he told The Daily Star. 'If there's a big storyline going on with the Platt family, she might want to come in and play a role in that. 'We certainly wanted to leave the door open so that was possible. We wanted that to still be on the cards.' While there are no plans yet for the beloved character to return, we're hopeful we may see her again. When is Gail Chadwick returning to Coronation Street? Currently unknown (when or if!). Producer Kate Brooks as also teased returns for other characters, but her lips are tightly sealed. 'There are other familiar faces coming back in 2025 which I will not disclose, but a few people will be returning to the street to cause their own forms of chaos,' she told us. Debbie Webster is set to be killed off in a harrowing storyline, which kicked off earlier this year. Viewers have seen the character – first played by Sue Devaney in 1984 – diagnosed with dementia, with a long-running storyline planned as the disease takes hold. It's one of many major plots new Corrie boss Kate Brooks has planned after taking the helm earlier this year. A source exclusively told Metro 'there will not be a dry eye in the house' as Debbie's story unfolds, saying her exit will be 'one to remember for years'. 'It's one of the show's biggest storylines of the year and a real chance for Sue to finally get her time in the spotlight – it will just be devastating for fans that it will effectively be her final storyline,' the insider told us. When is Debbie Webster leaving Coronation Street? 2027. The present regular cast of Coronation Street is made up of: William Roache as Ken Barlow Barbara Knox as Rita Sullivan Kate Ford as Tracy Barlow Sue Nicholls as Audrey Roberts Ben Price as Nick Tilsley Michael La Vell as Kevin Webster Sue Devaney as Debbie Webster Sally Ann Matthews as Jenny Connor Sally Dynevor as Sally Metcalfe Tina O'Brien as Sarah Platt Simon Gregson as Steve McDonald Jack P. Shepherd as David Platt Rob Mallard as Daniel Osbourne David Neilson as Roy Cropper Jane Danson as Leanne Battersby Georgia Taylor as Toyah Battersby Alan Halsall as Tyrone Dobbs Jimmi Harkishin as Dev Alahan Samia Longchambon as Maria Connor Andy Whyment as Kirk Sutherland Gareth Pierce as Todd Grimshaw Sam Robertson as Adam Barlow Jennie McAlpine as Fiz Dobbs Antony Cotton as Sean Tully Sam Aston as Chesney Brown Elle Mulvaney as Amy Barlow Adam Hussain as Aadi Alahan Tanisha Gorey as Asha Alahan Ryan Prescott as Ryan Connor Alison King as Carla Connor Liam McCheyne as Dylan Wilson Mikey North as Gary Windass Patti Clare as Mary Taylor Charlie Wrenshall as Liam Connor Jr. Peter Gunn as Brian Packham Cherylee Houston as Izzy Armstrong Kyran Bowes as Jack Webster Isabella Flanagan as Hope Stape William Flanagan as Joseph Brown Billie Naylor as Ruby Dobbs Joe Duttine as Tim Metcalfe Bobby Bradshaw as Jake Windass Brooke Malonie as Lily Platt Sair Khan as Alya Nazir Carter-J Murphy as Harry Platt Dolly-Rose Campbell as Gemma Winter Daniel Brocklebank as Billy Mayhew Liam Bairstow as Alex Warner Julie Goulding as Shona Platt Harriet Bibby as Summer Spellman Sally Carman as Abi Webster Trevor Michael Georges as Ed Bailey Ryan Russell as Michael Bailey Jane Hazlegrove as Bernie Winter Mollie Gallagher as Nina Lucas Tony Maudsley as George Shuttleworth Jude Riordan as Sam Blakeman Vinta Morgan as Ronnie Bailey Vicky Myers as DS Lisa Swain Jodie Prenger as Glenda Shuttleworth Channique Sterling-Brown as Dee Dee Bailey Cait Fitton as Lauren Bolton Claire Sweeney as Cassie Plummer Jacob Roberts as DC Kit Green Sydney Martin as Betsy Swain Star Adam Hussain has left his role as Aadi Alahan. Taking to Instagram, Adam announced his departure with a sweet post. 'I guess the secrets out now! As some of you may have heard, I will be leaving Coronation Street for new pastures,' the actor penned, alongside a recent photo of the full Corrie cast. 'Over the 5 years I've spent there I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little. I have made friends that will last a lifetime and will surely miss such a special family! 'This isn't a farewell for Aadi however, more like a see you later! 'I'm excited to see what the future brings! Thank you Coronation Street for giving me such a privilege of portraying this character for you. Until next time!' When is Aadi Alahan leaving Coronation Street? At the end of Summer. A Coronation Street spokesperson has confirmed that newcomer Farrel Hegarty will leave alongside co-star Joe Layton later this year. The duo arrived in the ITV soap in February as Lou and Mick Michaelis and were tipped to be the Battersby family of the 21st century. However, just months after their high-profile arrival on Mawdsley Street, both actors are set to leave. Branded the 'neighbours from hell' by show boss Kate Brooks, the couple have ruffled feathers throughout Weatherfield, sparking complaints from the likes of Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) and George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley). When are Mick and Lou Michaelis leaving Coronation Street? Currently unknown. It's been confirmed that Daniel Brocklebank is leaving Corrie, after playing vicar Billy Mayhew for the past 11 years. Discussing his departure, Daniel said: 'I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life. I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not look forward to going into work. He added: 'I love everyone who works on this show and whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds.' Producer of the show Kate Brooks noted: 'Billy will be involved in a major storyline over the coming months, which will see him tested in ways he never imagined, as friendships and his faith are pushed to the limit. 'We're incredibly sad to bid farewell to Dan, who has been fantastic in some of Corrie's biggest storylines over the past few years, most notably Paul's MND. 'An actor of immeasurable talent and skill, and an absolute treasure behind the scenes – he will be missed by all of us on the cobbles.' When is Billy Mayhew leaving Coronation Street? Later this year. 2025 is also set to see some other characters make unexpected exits from the show, as Kate revealed. More Trending 'There are a few exits this year, and some unexpected ones that will send shockwaves. People might not expect the exits, but there are a few.' Once again, she is keeping quiet about exactly who is set to say farewell, but it sounds like there will be more than one… This article was originally published on November 25, 2024.
