Jason Aldean and Travis Tritt bring 'It's A Great Day To Be Alive' to CMA Fest 2025 ABC special

Yahoo2 days ago

For the past year, Georgia-native country hitmaker Jason Aldean has chased cementing his status as a 30-time chart-topping performer.
He arrived at CMA Fest to celebrate his latest hit "Whiskey Drink," achieving that success. As well, he metaphorically tipped his ever-present cowboy hat to one of his childhood musical heroes, the Grand Ole Opry member and "Class of '89" favorite Travis Tritt.
The two country singers performed a rendition of "It's A Great Day To Be Alive" at CMA Fest 2025 in Nashville on June 5, the festival's opening night. The performance will be part of the ABC CMA Fest TV special on June 26.
'This next song's not one of mine, but it's by one of my musical heroes growing up in Georgia,' Aldean said before the performance. 'This guy was from Georgia, and 25 years ago, he had a hit song… so we're going to play this one for you.'

Aldean began singing Tritt's 2000 hit, belting out: "I got rice cooking in the microwave / Got a three day beard I don't plan to shave / And it's a goofy thing but I just gotta say, hey / I'ma doing alright."
Mid-way through the song, Aldean invited Tritt to join him onstage. As the duo strummed guitars, they sang the tune's feel-good chorus alongside lively fiddle.
"And it's a great day to be alive / I know the sun's still shining / When I close my eyes."
The song originally appeared on Darrell Scott's record "Aloha from Nashville" in 1997, which Scott wrote after recovering from a back injury.
When Scott was finally able to care for himself again after being bedridden for a week, the tune of gratitude poured out of him.
Tritt released his version of the track on his album "Down the Road I Go," with the single reaching number two on Billboard's Hot Country Chart.

Beyoncé's Loewe 'Cowboy Carter' Bandana Dress Is a Sparkly Homage to Her Destiny's Child Fashion Era

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Sure, Cowboy Carter is Beyoncé's first explicitly country album. But as a Houston native, Western culture is deeply engrained in her music, and most notably, her style. Beyoncé and cowgirl style go way back. During her Destiny's Child days, the singer regularly took center-stage in full Western garb. For example: On July 9, 2000, the girl group performed their greatest hits at London's Hyde Park. The dress code? Red bandana tops and low-rise jeans. The look was likely designed by her mother, Tina Knowles, who created all of her daughter's Destiny's Child costumes at the time. Her waistline was distressed—a signature early aughts accent—while each pocket of her jeans displayed retro embroidery. Fast-forward 25 years to June 21, 2025—opening night of the Cowboy Carter tour's Paris leg. While performing the chart-topping hit, "Texas Hold 'Em," Beyoncé channeled her younger self in yet another red bandana look. She wore head-to-toe Loewe, looking straight out of '00s. The pop star sported an asymmetrical, bandana print dress that was covered in thousands of Swarovski crystals. (A round of applause for her stylist, Shiona Turini.) Just like her Destiny's Child look, she paired the paisley number with jeans. Instead of low-rise skinnies, however, Loewe created denim hot pants, which peeked out from underneath her skirt. She then added a dash of pop star energy, with a pair of dazzling rhinestone cowboy boots (one of her performance favorites). Even her crimped blonde hair paid homage to the 2000s. A few feet behind Beyoncé, Blue Ivy stood out as the spitting image of her mom. The 13-year-old nailed the country-coded choreography and also wore Loewe. She was outfitted in a high-low paisley top, plus distressed light-wash jeans—a direct homage to Beyoncé's own paisley moment. To finish, Blue Ivy popped on a red cowboy hat and complementary boots, before tucking a matching handkerchief into her pocket. Let this look stand as a reminder to any naysayers: Beyoncé has always been country. View Deal $270 at NDG Paris View Deal View Deal $45 at Poppy Lissiman View Deal View Deal View Deal

Savannah Chrisley on How Trump's Election Win Led to Todd and Julie Chrisley's Prison Release: 'We Knew That Was Our Only Way Out'

Savannah Chrisley says Donald Trump's 2024 presidential election win was her parent's 'only way out' of prison. The well-known reality TV family sat down for their first TV interview since their release from prison on Fox News' My View with Lara Trump Saturday night. There, Todd, Julie, Savannah and Grayson Chrisley discussed their release from prison that was ignited by Trump's pardon. During their conversation, Savannah, an avid advocate for her parent's release since they went away in 2023, said they were at an 'all-time low' before they got the call that Todd and Julie were being pardoned. She recalled getting into a fight with Grayson, her younger brother whom she gained custody of when her parents went to prison, the day that they got the life-changing news. 'Just going through this together has been such a whirldwind, and the that day they got pardoned, he and I were fighting. It was the worst day ever,' she said. 'I had just reached a point of, like, I've done everything I can do. At this point, there's nothing more I can do. And then, I got the call from [Margo Martin].' Savannah added that she believes Trump winning the 2024 election was Todd and Julie's 'only way out.' 'On a personal level, we watched the election together, and he got to vote in the election for the first time,' Savannah said of her brother, Grayson. 'And when we were watching it and saw the president win, we both started sobbing and he just grabbed me and hugged me because we knew that was our only way out.' 'We owe thanks to God… and God touched President Trump's heart,' Todd added. 'God led the people to advocate for us. And so I'm grateful because every night I would pray that God would return me home to my wife and my children. And he did that, so I'm grateful.' After her parents went away, Savannah gained custody of not only Grayson but Chloe, the biological daughter of Todd's eldest son Kyle, whom they adopted in 2016. During the interview, their youngest son said that he was happy his family didn't have to 'hide their political views anymore,' nodding to their outspoken support of Trump. Lara, too, asked Todd and Julie if they'd spoken with the president since their release. They both answered no, though Savannah reminded her father that he briefly spoke with Trump on FaceTime while she was speaking with Margo Martin, the president's special assistant and communications adviser. Todd said when he talked to Trump, he told him, 'Thank you, you reunited me with my family.' In late May, Martin shared a video of Trump on the phone with Savannah and Grayson alerting them that their parents were being granted full pardons. Todd and Julie were found guilty on federal charges including bank fraud and tax evasion in June 2022. The couple was later sentenced in November of the same year, with Todd receiving 12 years in prison plus 16 months of probation, while Julie Chrisley got seven years behind bars and 16 months of probation The news of their pardon came almost a week after Lifetime announced the family's return to reality TV with a brand-new series. The Untitled Chrisleys Project will be 'pulling back the curtain' on the Chrisleys' 'unprecedented access to their lives in a deeply personal and dramatic new series.' Cameras followed Todd and Julie's post-prison reunion. At a press conference following their release, Todd and Savannah teased their forthcoming show. The Special Forces season two contestant said they 'had been filming and we had just wrapped filming for all intents and purposes. And then we get the call that they had been pardoned. So we picked right back up and we're excited because I think this new show is going to give, first off, it's going to give people a look into the trial and things that we went through and we're going to set the record straight, put some documents out there.' 'You will see the first time he and Mom see each other for the first time,' Savannah added. During their sit-down with Lara, Todd and Julie further spoke about their individual experiences in prison. They both shared stories about the men and women they met while locked up, and said they're committed to advocating for people in prison. Matty Healy Takes A Subtle Shot At Ex Taylor Swift, Fan Says He 'Was Very Drunk'

, frontman of The 1975, seemed to throw some shade at his ex-girlfriend, , during his performance at the Glastonbury Festival on Friday, leaving fans buzzing with speculation. The 36-year-old British rocker, who was sipping on a Guinness and smoking a cigarette while on stage at the iconic Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm in Somerset, made a cheeky toast to himself. 'What this moment is making me realize is that I probably am the best,' Healy told the crowd, raising his glass. 'I'm probably the best songwriter of my generation. The best, what do we say… A POET… ladies and gentlemen, is what I am,' he proclaimed, which many took as a subtle dig at his ex, Taylor Swift, whom he dated briefly in 2023. Fans quickly picked up on the reference, with one person in the crowd suggesting he was alluding to Swift's latest album, "The Tortured Poets Department." This comment stirred further intrigue, as many of Swift's followers have speculated that her song 'Peter' might be about Healy. Healy went on to call himself a 'Generational wordsmith,' adding, 'I just wanted to remind you in the next couple of minutes, these lyrics, this poetry, 'I Bleed For You'... take it away boys.' The band then launched into "Chocolate" from their 2013 self-titled debut album before Healy followed up with a playful 'I was only joking about being a poet' at the song's conclusion. However, the comments quickly sparked mixed reactions, with many fans who were in attendance at the show taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share their thoughts on Healy's performance. Some accused the rocker of being 'drunk,' with one user writing, 'That lad was very drunk tonight, and will look back at his big once-off night in regret. Very poor performer.' Another fan added, 'Genuinely the most cringe singer on the planet atm,' while a third quipped, 'Not even the best songwriter in the field. Alexa, play 'The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,'' a song off of Swift's "The Tortured Poets Department." The public was highly interested in the romance between Healy and Swift, which had a brief but highly publicized run in 2023. Now, Swift has moved on with NFL star , but it appears Healy isn't quite ready to let the past go. In the midst of the show's controversy, Healy also made a bold statement about the band's stance on politics, which has often sparked debate. Midway through the performance, the stage went dark, and a message appeared announcing, 'Matty is changing his trousers.' When the lights returned, the band was dressed in full suits, and they performed 'I Couldn't Be More in Love.' It was during this moment that Healy shared his most sincere sentiment of the night. 'People who are watching this may, I don't know… They may be disappointed in the lack of politics in this show and our forthcoming shows and probably our future shows. I want you to know that it's a conscious decision,' Healy began. 'We honestly don't want our legacy to be one of politics. We want it to be that of love and friendship." He continued, "I'm not trying to be too earnest, but you can go out into the world and there's loads of politics everywhere. We don't need more politics. We need more love and friendship.' The band has often found itself at the center of controversy, especially after Healy made headlines for kissing various band members and audience members mid-performance, including at Malaysia's Good Vibes Festival in 2023. At that time, Healy spoke out against the country's anti-LGBTQ laws and then kissed his bandmate MacDonald on the lips. The act led to the festival being canceled and the band being banned from Malaysia. The band's most recent album, "Being Funny in a Foreign Language," was released in 2022 to critical acclaim. Since their debut EP in 2012, they've built a loyal fanbase, with many fans even getting tattoos of their signature box logo.
