Panicky pushers: Trio nabbed during anti-drug sweep in Kota Belud
The suspects, aged 40 to 45, were in the Kampung Kelawat area when police mounted an anti-drug operation, Ops Tapis Narkotik, on Thursday (June 26).
Kota Belud OCPD Supt Shahrudin Mat Husain said police caught up with the suspects after a chase and found drugs, believed to be syabu meant for distribution in the area, in their possession.
They were brought to the police station for questioning and also tested positive for methamphetamine, he added.
He said the suspects will be remanded before being charged in court soon.
Supt Shahrudin said police will continue conducting raids against drug and ketum abuse in the district.
In another operation in Tawau, police detained a man with drugs in his possession following inspections at the Sabindo Bus Terminal on Wednesday (June 25) evening.
Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin said the arrest was made at 4.15pm by a team from the district Narcotics Crime Investigation Division.
'There was a small plastic bag filled with what we believe is syabu, weighing around 5.60g and valued at RM300, on the suspect,' he said.
The suspect tested negative for drugs, and police believe he is part of a network in the district, he added.
ACP Jasmin urged the community to help fight crime in the district by providing the police with information on any suspicious activities.

KUALA LUMPUR: Aidil (not his real name) admits he lost his temper when he brandished a replica gun during an argument with a man whom he said had been very rude to his mother. "I only wanted to scare him into thinking I would shoot him after he used very course language and was very rude to my mum. "I didn't actually want to shoot him," said the 20-year-old, who was sentenced to 240 hours community service for the incident last year. Aidil is one 26 people serving their community service orders today at the 2025 Beret Community Service Order Programme at the Civil Defence Force's (APM) Pahang headquarters. He said he was working as a security guard in Bentong at the time of the incident, and did not expect the brash decision would land him in trouble. "The pistol could fire only metal pellets. I bought it for RM300. I had no intention of hurting the man. I only wanted to scare him, nothing more. "I did not expect to be arrested by police just hours after the incident, charged in court and eventually sentenced to 240 hours of community service," he said. Aidil was charged with possession of a replica firearm and making criminal threats. He must complete his community service within two years under the supervision of the Pahang Social Welfare Department. Pahang Social Welfare Department director Khairul Amri Ahmad said there were 52 people in the state, including children, youths and adults, who are under community service orders. He said today's programme was designed to build inner strength, discipline and resilience, as well as helping them to develop physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally in facing life's challenges. Khairul Amr added that those involved had committed various offences, including theft, sexual offences, traffic violations, rape, drug offences, threats, abuse and illegal street racing. Aidil's lapse in judgment in dealing with life's challenges is not unique, even among among older and supposedly more mature people. Forty-year-old Aida (not her real name) said that the extreme stress of living in Kuala Lumpur drove her to abuse her 18-month-old niece, which left bruises on the child's back. "The hardship of living in a cramped room made it difficult for me to control myself, and I ended up hitting the child. "At the time, I was also caring for my four children, aged 1 to 14. "I never imagined that when the child was taken to the hospital for seizures, the doctor would discover bruises on her back, which led to a police case. "The damage was done, and I was sentenced to 240 hours of community service," said Aida, who now lives in Cameron Highlands. For Salmah, 19, from Temerloh, she became involved in a mule account syndicate last year, which resulted in legal consequences when police traced a deposit of RM2,000 made by an individual into her bank account. Johor cops call on the public to help find missing six-year-old
ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a six-year-old boy who has been reported missing in Taman Bukit Indah near here. Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the police received a report on the child's disappearance at about 2.15am on Thursday (July 24). 'The report was lodged by the boy's father, a 36-year-old local man, who claimed that his son went missing near a kopitiam at Taman Bukit Indah. 'The missing child has been identified as M. Tishant, a Malaysian male aged six. He was last seen at the Tiong Nam kopitiam in Taman Bukit Indah,' he said in a statement here on Saturday (July 26). ACP Kumarasan added that Tishant is described as having a dark complexion, with a sharp nose, standing about 110cm tall and weighing around 19kg. He urged members of the public with any information on the child's whereabouts to contact the investigating officer, Insp E. Komaty at 010-381 2804. ACP Kumarasan said those with information may also reach out to the Iskandar Puteri district police control centre at 07-511 3622 or its hotline number at 07-511 4486. 'Our top priority is to locate the child and ensure his safety. We appreciate any assistance from the public to help reunite him with his family,' he added.

Five injured in multi-vehicle crash in Penang
Five people were severely injured, and one escaped with minor injuries after a multi-vehicle crash along Jalan Perak, ending on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway towards Batu Uban, on Friday (July 25). George Town OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the George Town police received information about an accident involving a sports utility vehicle (SUV), two cars, and two motorcycles. "Preliminary investigation revealed that the accident occurred on Friday (July 25) at about 8.30 p.m. when the SUV driver, upon reaching the traffic light junction at Jalan Perak, collided with the rear of a Perodua Myvi," he said. The SUV driver then continued driving and collided with two motorcycles along Jalan Perak. Subsequently, the SUV proceeded towards the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway, heading towards Batu Maung, and crashed into the rear of another vehicle. As a result, the drivers of the SUV and cars, along with the motorcyclists and pillion riders aged between 15 and 56, sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at Penang Hospital. The case is being investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
