Remember the Ineos Grenadier LeTech prototype we drove up a mountain in Iceland, and then again in a muddy field in the UK? Well, after over 1,000 people expressed their interest in buying one, it'll soon be officially available to order at your local Ineos showroom.
Well, so long as you live in Germany, with the LeTech being offered to the rest of Europe thereafter. And so long as you have a spare €170,000 excluding VAT lying around for the Station Wagon version, or €171,000 excluding VAT for the giant Quartermaster pickup.

Yeah, it's not cheap. But you are getting a lot of off-road kit for the cash. These Grenadiers will start life at the Ineos factory in Hambach as muddy spec Trialmasters with front and rear locking diffs. They will then be taken to LeTech's facility near Stuttgart in Germany where they'll be fitted with 'a new heavy-duty five-link front and rear suspension layout, portal axles with wheel hubs offset from the main axle and larger 37in BFGoodrich Mud Terrain off-road tyres'.
The 3.0-litre turbo straight-six from BMW remains unchanged no matter whether you spec the petrol or diesel option, but LeTech also adds 18in forged beadlock alloy wheels, new brakes, wider wheel arches and running boards, a front winch, a rear ladder, a roof rack and a lightbar with six LED spotlights. A tyre pressure control system and LED rear lamps are also options. Yes, give us all of the spotlights. The tiptoed Grenadiers also come with a full leather interior, heated front seats, safari windows and a 'premium sound system'.
Orders will open later this month and Ineos has had 'numerous enquiries' from rescue services and aid agencies that operate in less-than-ideal driving conditions. They will be pleased to hear the modifications enhance ground clearance to 450mm (a 186mm improvement) and wading depth to 1,050mm (up from 800mm as standard). The new setup also provides much greater wheel travel and improved axle articulation, while the 3,500kg towing capacity remains. As does the standard car's five-year, unlimited mileage mechanical warranty, apparently. Very sensible.
Anything else you should know? Ah yes, it's now officially called the Ineos Grenadier Trialmaster X LeTech, because every collaboration needs to include an 'X' these days.

Drivers need to do three checks before using their car during hot weather, RAC says

DRIVERS are being urged to carry out three vital checks before hitting the road in scorching weather. As UK temperatures soar, motoring experts say failing to prep your car properly could leave you stranded in the heat. 3 3 Breakdowns are already on the rise - leaving thousands of drivers are being left stranded every day. And with the heatwave chaos, rescue wait times are soaring. Experts are warning Brits to act now before hitting the road and say a few simple checks could save your motor - and your wallet - from a summer meltdown. RAC breakdown spokesperson Alice Simpson said: 'We're seeing a surge in breakdowns as this latest period of hot weather takes hold, with up to 20% more vehicles failing than expected at this point in July. "With above-average temperatures in many parts expected for the foreseeable future, very high volumes of breakdowns will persist through this coming weekend and well into next week. "Our teams are working incredibly hard to help thousands of stranded drivers every day, but waiting times are longer as a result." What to check? Drivers are being urged to check oil and coolant levels, as well as tyre pressure and tread, before setting off. And if you spot a problem, don't risk it - get it looked at by a mechanic or trusted garage before heading out, or you could end up broken down on the hard shoulder in blistering heat. Alice continued: 'Drivers should do whatever they can to avoid their vehicles letting them down in these conditions - oil and coolant levels, as well as tyres, must be checked before journeys are made. "If anything isn't right, get the problem diagnosed by a mobile mechanic or reputable garage, rather than running the risk of driving. "Taking plenty of breaks on long journeys, to give themselves and their cars a rest, is also important." Breakdown Survival Tips Motorists are also being told to prepare for the worst - just in case the car does conk out. Always carry plenty of drinking water, especially if you're travelling with kids or pets, and don't forget sun cream, a sun hat, and even an umbrella to provide shade while you wait for help. Experts say if you do break down, it's vital to get out safely and seek shade where possible - as sitting in a sweltering vehicle can be just as dangerous as being stuck outside. Alice added: 'Staying safe in the heat, especially if a breakdown is unavoidable, should be in the mind of every driver. "Carrying plenty of water for all passengers is a must, as is keeping sunscreen and a sun hat or even umbrella to hand to reduce the ferocity of the sun. "When waiting for assistance, look for a safe location in the shade and well away from moving traffic." 3 Find Your Next Car by What You Can Actually Afford Sun Motors has created the UK's First Finance-First Marketplace * Finance Powered by DSG Finance who are a Credit Broker Not A Lender. Car smashes through care home wall with eight people injured

Eight people have been injured after a car crashed into a care home. The BMW crashed through the wall of Highcliffe Care Home in Witherwack, Sunderland, at about 9.40pm on Wednesday. A huge hole has been left in the side of the building, with rubble and debris scattered inside and the brick wall cracking. Police, the fire service and paramedics were all called to the scene, where patients living at the care home were evacuated. It's not yet clear whether the eight injured people were patients at the care home, staff, or a mixture of both. A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: 'We received a call at 9.41pm on July 9 to reports to a vehicle colliding into a premises in the Whitechurch Road area of Sunderland. More Trending 'We dispatched three emergency ambulance crews, a specialist paramedic, a duty officer, a clinical team leader, three crews from our Hazardous Area Response Team (Hart), our tactical advisor, our tactical commander, and two crews from our patient transport service (PTS) to the scene.
