Air India venture sacks four employees over viral celebration video
New Delhi [India], June 28 (ANI): Air India SATS Services (AISATS) has expressed regret and taken disciplinary action against four senior employees, asking them to resign following a viral video showing its employees dancing and celebrating at the office, allegedly after the fatal Air India AI 171 crash in Ahmedabad.
The incident has drawn significant attention, with the company subsequently issuing a statement to address the matter. A video recently went viral on social media, showing AISATS employees partying in the workplace. However, the date has not been specified; it might have been shot days after the Air India AI 171 crash.
On Friday, AISATS released a statement that said, 'At AISATS, we stand in solidarity with the families affected by the tragic loss of AI 171 and deeply regret the lapse in judgment reflected in a recent internal video. The behaviour does not align with our values, and firm disciplinary action has been taken against those responsible as we reaffirm our commitment to empathy, professionalism, and accountability.'
The AISATS spokesperson further stated, 'Firm disciplinary action has been taken against those responsible as we reaffirm our commitment to empathy, professionalism, and accountability.' This decisive action underscores the company's dedication to maintaining high standards of conduct within its workforce.
According to sources, four senior employees of Air India's airport gateway services provider, AISATS, have been told to resign after a video showing employees partying in the workplace went viral on social media.
Meanwhile, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) Lab in New Delhi, is currently working intensively to examine data retrieved from the black boxes of Air India Flight AI-171, which crashed in Ahmedabad earlier this month.
The crash occurred on June 12, when a London-bound Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed into a hostel complex of BJ Medical College in the Meghani Nagar area of Gujarat's Ahmedabad shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, The tragedy claimed 241 lives out of 242 onboard, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. West Bengal: Another key accused arrested in Kaliganj blast case, says police
Nadia (West Bengal) [India], June 28 (ANI): The West Bengal police have arrested another key accused in the Kaliganj bomb blast case in the Molandi area of Borochandghar under Kaliganj police station limits. The blast, which resulted in the tragic death of a minor girl, has now led to the arrest of a total of 9 individuals connected to the case. According to the police, the accused has been identified as Gaowal SK. 'In a late-night development, Gaowal SK, one of the key accused in the Kaliganj bomb blast case, was arrested by the Police. With this, the total number of arrests in the case has reached nine, out of the 24 individuals named in the FIR,' the West Bengal police said in an official statement. Earlier, on June 24, Krishnanagar police arrested four individuals in connection with the incident. The arrested accused were Adar Sk, Manowar Sk, Kalu Sk, and Anwar Sk. 'In an incident of explosion at Molandi, Borochandghar under Kaliganj police station area, which led to the death of a minor girl, 4 prime accused persons were arrested yesterday- Adar Sk, Manowar Sk, Kalu Sk and Anwar Sk. Kaliganj PS Case No. 534/25 dt 23.06.25 u/s 191(2)/191(3)/190/118(2)/109/305/103 BNS & 3/4 ES Act is registered. Investigation and legal proceedings are underway,' the police said in a post on X. On June 25, BJP MP Samik Bhattacharya made serious allegations regarding the blast, termed it as a 'well-thought-out attack' rather than a mere bomb blast, further claiming that the family targeted in the incident was not a voter or supporter of the Trinamool Congress (TMC). 'It was not a bomb explosion. It was a well-thought-out attack. The family on which the bomb was dropped is not a Trinamool Congress voter or a supporter. They were identified, then the bomb was thrown at father of the deceased child is saying that he is giving 24 hours' time and if there is no solution, then he will demand a CBI inquiry,' BJP MP said. A 13-year-old girl died in a bomb explosion during a victory procession organised by Trinamool Congress in Kaliganj police station area after the party swept Kaliganj Assembly bypoll. In a post on X, West Bengal police confirmed that the 13-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries sustained from the explosion. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed shock over the incident and directed police to 'take strong and decisive legal action' against the culprits. (ANI)

AAIB Chief GVG Yugandhar Gets CRPFs X Category Security Cover
The Centre has granted Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) X category security cover to Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) chief GVG Yugandhar, as per sources. According to sources, the X category security was extended to AAIB Director General GVG Yugandhar, effective from June 16. This move comes as the AAIB is spearheading the investigation into the Air India plane crash that claimed the lives of 241 passengers and crew members. According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Crash Protection Module (CPM) from the front black box was safely retrieved. On June 25, 2025, the memory module was successfully accessed, and its data was downloaded at the AAIB Lab. Sources familiar with the process told ANI that an identical black box, referred to as a "golden chassis," was used to confirm whether data could be accurately recovered from the black boxes. One black box was recovered from the rooftop of a building at the crash site on June 13, and the other from the debris on June 16. The investigation is being led by AAIB officials and includes technical members from the Indian Air Force (IAF), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of the United States--the official investigative agency of the country where the aircraft was designed and manufactured. The Director General of AAIB is heading the probe. An aviation medicine expert and an Air Traffic Control officer have also been included in the investigation team. Sources confirmed that the NTSB team is currently stationed in Delhi and working closely with Indian authorities at the AAIB Lab. Officials from Boeing and GE are also present in the national capital to assist with the technical process.

AI-based CCTV cameras, traffic restriction: High security at Puri Rath Yatra
The Puri district administration has deployed AI-based CCTV cameras to monitor the festivities and ensure security, surveillance, including traffic management during the Ratha Yatra 2025, All rituals related to the Rath Yatra are being conducted as per schedule amid heightened security arrangements.(PTI) Speaking on the matter, Additional Director General of Police (Traffic), Dayal Gangwar, highlighted the significance of this technology in maintaining order and safety of devotees coming from cities, including Bhubaneswar and Konark. Gangwar informed that the AI-powered CCTV cameras are playing a crucial role in assisting with surveillance and security. "Yesterday, devotees followed the traffic restrictions and traffic regulation plan, and the same will remain in place today. We request everyone to cooperate with us in this... The arrangements made yesterday for devotees coming from Bhubaneswar and Konark will remain the same today... We request everyone to adhere to our restrictions... The AI system is greatly assisting us.", ADG Traffic Dayal Gangwar told ANI on Saturday. A sea of devotees gathered in Puri on Friday to witness the world-famous Jagannath Rath Yatra, as Lord Jagannath, along with his siblings Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra, embarked on the ceremonial journey from the Shri Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple. All rituals related to the Rath Yatra are being conducted as per schedule amid heightened security arrangements, with coordinated efforts from multiple security forces and district authorities. Speaking to ANI about the arrangements, Puri District Magistrate Siddharth Swain said, '...The yatra route is full of devotees. All rituals related to the Rath Yatra will be conducted on time. Police have been deployed since last night. This time, NDRF has also been deployed... Yesterday, we removed illegal 6-7 drones. Flying of drones over Shri Jagannath Temple and the Gundicha temple is not allowed.' A team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been stationed in Puri as a precautionary measure due to the high footfall and scale of the event. NDRF Deputy Commandant Naveen Rana said, "Our personnel are trained to handle all situations, including any medical emergency, structure collapse or any other. We had conducted four mock drills along with the District Administration here." The yatra drew lakhs of devotees, many of whom had travelled from different parts of the country and abroad to to witness the grand chariots of the three deities, Lord Jagannath, his brother Lord Balabhadra, and sister goddess Subhadra, at the Gundicha temple, where the deities reside for a week and then return to Jagannath temple. Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended a heartfelt welcome to devotees on the occasion of the annual Rath Yatra, urging them to participate with utmost faith and his message, CM Majhi said, 'Join the Rath Yatra with faith and devotion, witness the divine glimpse of Mahaprabhu atop the chariot, and receive His blessings.'
