Driver crashes into JFK Memorial in Holyoke, police seek charges
HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Holyoke Police Department is seeking charges against a driver who crashed into the John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza Sunday morning.
Multi-car crash in Holyoke damages traffic light, parked cars
Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan stated that at approximately 4:25 a.m. on Sunday, officers were called to the area of Suffolk Street and Sycamore Street for a single-vehicle crash. The crash resulted in significant damage to several monuments located at the Memorial Plaza.
Police and fire crews were able to gain access to the vehicle and remove the driver and passenger from the car. Both occupants were administered Narcan and brought to the hospital to be evaluated for injuries.
The driver, a 26-year-old man from Springfield, was issued a citation. Chief Keenan said that officers will be seeking a criminal complaint against him for OUI – Drugs and Wanton Destruction of Property.
The Holyoke Department of Public Works has been contacted about the damage to the memorial. 22News will provide updates as more information becomes available.

Holyoke police website down, but it's not hacked ... just an expired credit card
HOLYOKE — Residents were unable to access the Holyoke Police Department's website — — for about three days, after an expired credit card disrupted the city's vendor payment, officials said Friday. The site was inaccessible starting on Wednesday. A spokesperson for the department said on Thursday afternoon that the agency was aware of the issue, but its IT staff were on leave until Monday. It returned by 4:25 p.m. Friday. On Friday, Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan said the department filed a new credit card with the vendor on Thursday to settle the hosting invoice. According to Keenan, once processed, the website came back online. Email services were not affected, nor were sensitive police records, according to the department. 'The information on the website is public, as in it is all informational,' said Keenan. Keenan noted that the website does not store sensitive data like criminal records or internal police communications. The department clarified it does not host the website internally and has no control over backend operations. Keenan did not disclose which vendor manages the site or how much was owed for renewal. Southgate man injured after a pickup hit a highway wall, police say
A Southgate man got emergency medical aid on site and was taken to the hospital after a Ford F-150 he was driving struck a highway wall Thursday in Metro Detroit. Several 911 calls had been made to the Detroit Regional Communication Center about the situation that was noticed about 6:40 p.m. Thursday on Westbound I-94 near Miller Road, the Michigan State Police reported. Some of the calls indicated that the driver appeared to be in convulsions. Another witness was trying to get into the vehicle to provide first aid. When police arrived, the 55-year-old man was still in the car and unresponsive. "Signs of potential drug use were also found in the vehicle," the state police report said. Troopers and Dearborn Police officers attempted CPR and Narcan until Dearborn EMS crews arrived and took over. The man's pulse returned while medics were tending to him. After he was taken to a hospital, he regained consciousness and was alert. "Great work by troopers and officers in using their training to stabilize this driver prior to EMS arriving," F/Lt Mike Shaw said about the incident. "Once the investigation is completed, troopers will forward an investigators report to the prosecutor for review."
