Bukit Aman launches disciplinary investigation into Ampang cop over alleged hotel invite in viral clip
KUALA LUMPUR, June 15 — Bukit Aman's Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) is conducting a disciplinary investigation into a police officer accused of inviting a woman to meet and check into a hotel, as alleged in a video that has gone viral on social media.
Its director, Datuk Seri Azri Ahmad, said a police report on the incident was lodged yesterday by the chief of the Pandan Indah police station.
'The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
'JIPS Bukit Aman is also carrying out a concurrent disciplinary probe into the junior police officer involved, including aspects of supervision,' he said in a statement today.
He added that firm action would be taken against any officer or supervisor if complaints are found to be substantiated.
Earlier, national news agency Bernama reported that the woman who uploaded the video of the conversation — allegedly insulting to female modesty — has been urged to come forward to assist with the investigation.
Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said police had detected a 1-minute-30-second video showing a conversation between a police officer and a woman of unidentified ethnicity.
The clip, which allegedly demeaned the woman's modesty, was posted on TikTok by a user named shaamajinbuulalu and later spread to Instagram.

Zamzuri said the officers were conducting surveillance to prevent illegal street racing activities in Kuala Lumpur. He said Amirul had been serving with the department since completing his training and had been attached to the intelligence/operations division for over a year.

Police to probe scuffle between cop, protester at anti-graft rally

PETALING JAYA : Police are investigating a scuffle which broke out between a cop on duty and a protester at an anti-corruption rally attended by about 100 people in Kuala Lumpur earlier today. Dang Wangi police chief Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said one of the rally-goers had lit a flare at about 4.30pm, producing thick smoke which could have endangered participants, security personnel on duty and members of the public nearby. Because of this, policemen on duty took preventive action, he said. 'As this preventive action was being taken, a scuffle broke out between the rally-goer and a policeman, leaving the latter with minor injuries. The scuffle was broken up by other policemen. Three reports were later lodged over the incident,' he said in a statement. Sulizmie said the investigation was into the use of criminal force against a public servant, the letting off of fireworks, and insulting behaviour. Around 100 protesters gathered outside the Sogo shopping complex at about 2pm today before moving to Dataran Merdeka through Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman. They urged Putrajaya to strengthen the legal system and reinforce the independence of anti-corruption institutions.

Federal CID chief to be transferred to border control agency
Shuhaily Zain will be replaced by M Kumar as CID director at Bukit Aman. PETALING JAYA : Bukit Aman criminal investigation department director Shuhaily Zain will be transferred to the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency on July 1. Shuhaily, who was appointed federal CID chief in August 2023, confirmed the transfer with Berita Harian but declined to comment further. He will reportedly take over as the director-general of the border agency until June 30, 2027 and replaces Hazani Ghazali who retired in February. Johor police chief M Kumar will take over from Shuhaily as Bukit Aman CID director. Kumar's replacement has yet to be announced. In August last year, Malaysiakini reported that Shuhaily and deputy inspector-general of police Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay would be involved in a major shake-up of Bukit Aman's leadership. The news portal quoted a source as saying Ayob might be transferred to lead either the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency or the border agency, while Shuhaily was speculated to take over as director-general of the national anti-drugs agency. The then IGP Razarudin Husain rejected the report, which led to a police investigation into Malaysiakini over its article, with three of its journalists summoned to give their statements last year.
