
Network of uplift projects laid across Punjab: CM
LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif said on Monday that a network of development projects has been laid across Punjab and the government is working on important sectors comprising health, education, infrastructure and environmental pollution.
She said this during a meeting with the Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan in which Members Punjab Assembly Sardar Muhammad Asim Sher Maken and Khurram Khan Virk were also present. Matters pertaining to mutual interest, political situation, public welfare projects along with national as well as political affairs, budget and development projects were discussed in the meeting.
The Chief Minister said, 'History bears witness that whenever PML-N government comes into power, all the problems and grievances of the people are redressed promptly.' She vowed, 'The journey of providing public service will be further accelerated across the province.'
The CM said the price of bread in the entire province is lower as compared to other provinces. The incumbent government is resolving the problems of farmers on a priority basis, she added.
The Chief Minister appreciated Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan for conducting affairs of the Punjab Assembly in a nice manner.
The Speaker Punjab Assembly congratulated Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for building a record number of houses under 'Apni Chhat, Apni Ghar' program. He appreciated Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's initiatives for granting 'Honhaar' scholarships and laptops to the talented students across Punjab.
Member Punjab Assembly Sardar Muhammad Asim Sher Maken appreciated Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's vision of launching Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology project. He paid tribute to her for launching record development projects in a short span of time in the province. He acknowledged that Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology project being launched in Sargodha is an example of its own.
Khurram Khan Virk MPA extolled that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif by launching record development projects in the province has refreshed the memories of Quaid PML-N Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif.
Both the MPAs lauded Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's preference to hold consultation while launching development projects across Punjab.

PM calls to strengthen democratic institutions
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged the nation to renew its resolve to strengthen parliamentary institutions, uphold democratic values, and ensure that the voices of the people are truly reflected in the lawmaking process. In a message on the International Day of Parliamentarism, he said, "The day is observed every year on June 30 to reaffirm our global commitment to reinforcing democratic institutions." "The day also celebrates the vital role of Parliaments in promoting inclusive governance, ensuring meaningful representation of women and youth, and embracing technological innovation in legislative practices," he said. The PM noted, "Our Parliament occupies a central place in our democratic framework. Through its legislative authority and the vigilant work of its standing committees, Parliament ensures accountability, transparency, and oversight of the executive." "The Constitution of Pakistan enshrines representation of women through reserved seats under Articles 51 and 59. Our women parliamentarians have also risen to leadership positions: currently, eight women Senators and four women Members of the National Assembly serve as Chairpersons of Parliamentary Committees, breaking glass ceilings and setting an example of inclusive and empowered leadership," he remarked. The prime minister said, "Parliament has also remained proactive in enacting progressive legislation, particularly to advance gender equality and social protection." He said, "As we mark this important day, let us renew our resolve to strengthen parliamentary institutions, safeguard democratic values, and ensure that the voices of the citizenry are truly reflected in the lawmaking process." Chaudhry Nisar Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the residence of disgruntled PML-N leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and inquired after his health. According to a statement issued by the PM House, both leaders discussed national and international issues. The meeting was held in a very pleasant atmosphere, and they relived their past memories.

Evening OPDs open at social security hospitals
In a move aimed at improving access to healthcare for workers, the Punjab Employees Social Security Hospitals — including the facility in Islamabad — will begin offering evening Outpatient Department (OPD) services starting July 1. The announcement was made by Social Security Hospital Islamabad Medical Superintendent Dr Tabinda Zaman during a press conference following the inauguration of the evening OPD service. She stated that the decision aligns with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and is being implemented under directives from Provincial Labour Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar and Chairman Punjab Employees Social Security Muhammad Ali. Dr Zaman noted that the evening OPD will allow labourers and their dependents to receive quality medical care outside their regular working hours. "This will make it easier for workers to access healthcare without disrupting their jobs," she said. She added that under the leadership of Labour Minister Khokhar, hospitals managed by the Labour Department are striving to provide top-tier medical facilities to the working class and their families.
